Place 72 – Day 501: Vancouver, BC – First New Cookbook Use!

We woke up and had the same breakfast as yesterday and then got ourselves ready for the day.

Once we were ready, we were finally able to go out for a walk as the weather wasn’t bad!

We stopped in at a few places to see if we could get Kim a replacement earring, but we had no luck, so we grabbed a coffee and walked to the beach.

There were quite a lot of people, but we managed to stay away from everyone and had a really nice walk.

When we got home, we looked into Kim’s new cooking book that Curtis got her for Christmas and found some nice food we can make for the week!

We left home again once we had ingredients listed out and went to the shop.

We went to Canadian Tire first to grab a rechargeable battery charger with some rechargable batteries so we don’t use up too much for our VR controllers, then we headed to the supermarket.

We queued for a bit but then headed in and got the shop done in a pretty quick timeframe.

We got home and Kim made the potato, peas & mushroom dinner from the cookbook, which we added an egg to the top of and it was pretty delicious! We wanted the potato a little crispier, but we can try it again!

Curtis vacuumed whilst Kim cooked so we were all ready to relax once we ate.

We are both back to work tomorrow and Curtis needs to head into the office, so an early wake-up it is!

We played some games and watched some TV/YouTube after we ate and just relaxed, really.

Place 72 – Day 500: Vancouver, BC – Best Coffee In Vancouver?

We woke up at a really reasonable time today and had some toasties for breakfast. After breakfast, we had showers and then braved the rain to get ourselves some coffee!

We had heard and read that Revolver was the best coffee place in Vancouver, so we thought we should check it out.

We got pretty wet from the rain on the way there and back, but we were excited for our coffee!

Unfortunately, it wasn’t all that impressive. By no means was the coffee bad, but we weren’t really blown away! But we are glad we got to try it and we may think about trying some different coffee from there in the future.

When we got home, we played some Minecraft and then some VR!

we played quite a bit of VR, including some Mini Golf and the other game we had been playing recently.

We then watched some more TV and followed that up with eating our remaining leftovers from our Chinese food order yesterday.

We watched Big Fat Quiz 2020 whilst we ate which was funny, then finished the night off with some more Minecraft and TV/YouTube.

Place 72 – Day 499: Vancouver, BC – New Year’s Day VR

We woke up at a decent time today and had some cinnamon buns for breakfast.

Once we got ready, we braved the rain to get a coffee. We planned to try somewhere we haven’t been yet, but it was closed so we just went to Starbucks instead.

We went back and home watched a bit of TV and then we played VR for a while!

We got a couple of new games and one of them was really good (called Pistol Whip) and we played that until we got hungry.

We ordered some dinner, but unfortunately the place was closed so they cancelled our order.

Eventually, we found a nice looking Chinese place which we ordered from and it arrived quickly!

Unfortunately, they forgot one thing and replaced another, but it was all pretty alright.

We watched some YouTube whilst we ate and then played some Minecraft.

We were really glad we got to play some VR again. We don’t do it often enough but it was so fun!

Place 72 – Day 403: Vancouver, BC – First Time Driving Here

We got up a little earlier today and had some toasties for breakfast.

We then did some laundry and got showered, then Kim chatted with her dad and went over her CV and got some of his feedback.

Once Kim was done with that, we left the apartment and jumped in the car.

Curtis has found out that Kim is not allowed to come and watch his hockey games and Kim had been driving since we got to Vancouver, so Curtis needs to drive to hockey himself when it starts on 7th October.

Kim drove to an industrial area and we swapped seats, and Curtis tried driving for the first time on the left side of the car and right side of the road.

Curtis didn’t mind it, though lane discipline was a bit tough. Curtis is going to drive a little more over the next week or so and then he can get used to it before he drives to hockey for his first game!

Curtis then drove onto the supermarket and where we park was absolutely full, so it took a while to find a space.

The supermarket was just as full as the parking around it and it was a little crazy in there, but we got it done and drove back home.

We got back home and had some leftover pizza which we had from yesterday.

We had that and watched a bit of TV, then played some Tony Hawk.

Kim made a slow cooked chicken chili and we ate that whilst watching some YouTube videos.

We watched some more TV and got ourselves off to bed.

Place 72 – Day 386: Vancouver, BC – Clearing Stuff Out

We woke up at 10:30 and both actually felt really good after our night of sleep.

We had cheese toasties for breakfast and then got ready for the day.

Once we got ready, we relaxed and had leftover pizza as a snack along with homemade Vietnamese coffee which turned out much better than the last time.

We finished that and then went to the shop to get our weekly shop done.

After the shop, we went down to the storage locker and loaded a bunch of stuff we are going to donate into the car. Kim is also donating a bunch of stuff from work, so it makes sense to donate it all at the same time.

Once that was done, Kim started on making dinner.

Kim made a Thai red curry along with a lazy egg. It was terrific!

We watched some YouTube videos during dinner and then played some more Tony Hawk after eating.

Place 72 – Day 380: Vancouver, BC – An Electrician

Curtis’ Day

Curtis got up and ready and then got himself sorted to go to the office.

At 09:30, Curtis walked to the office as he had an onboard to complete and setup the laptop for.

Curtis got the laptop setup and the accounts created and then had to ship the laptop out.

During this time, Curtis also had a team meeting.

Curtis had a chat with a colleague about changing people’s names in different applications and if it would break anything as he has to do so next week.

He did a couple of tickets and then the electrician turned up, who was adding a new plug socket in the office.

This took much, much longer than expected and Curtis and his colleague had planned to do something else in that room but were unable to do so as it took so long with the electrician.

Curtis ended up leaving the office around 18:00 and walked home. He’ll be back in tomorrow to do the other thing he needed to get done.

Kim’s Day

Kim had a team meeting to start her day and it went really well. They set up some good plans for the next few weeks.

She then spent some time catching up on emails and messages before deciding to finally clean out the meeting room she has been foubking up as a storage space. She collected and sorted all the stuff that will be donated and just had a general clear out of stuff that doesnt need to be in there.

In the afternoon Kim focused on sorting through the stationary that she put to one side during the office clean up. She tested all the pens, put things into the donation pile and then set everything aside to stay overnight and be put away tomorrow. She finished the cleaning day by checking out the bookshelf and finding any duplicates.

Evening

When Curtis eventually got home, Kim was amazing and had taken out all the bins and made dinner!

Curtis was able to sit down and enjoy some incredible tomato and mushroom pasta and a glass of wine, thanks to his incredible wife.

We watched some YouTube videos and some of The Umbrella Academy and relax for the evening.

Curtis didn’t sleep well last night so he was very tired today!

Place 72 – Day 365: Vancouver, BC – Sitting In The Sun

Usual Beach Walk

We got up and had some french toast for breakfast.

We watched a bit of YouTube and relaxed and then we got ready for the day.

We went out for a walk in the blistering heat! The weather was about 31°C today and felt like 33°C, so certainly warm!

We walked down to the beach, stopping for a coffee along the way, of course.

We got to near the beach and we sat on the grass in the shade, just drinking our coffee and people watching.

We walked on the beach for a bit and dipped our feet in the water, but eventually we got a bit too warm to walk around in the heat, so we walked back home.

Sitting In The Sun

Once we got home, we relaxed for a bit and then Kim went out to the park near our apartment to sit down in the sun, read a book and listen to some podcasts!

Kim got back, incredibly warm, and then we had some dinner. We had coconut and lime chicken with rice and it was really good!

Evening

We watched a few episodes of TV and then Kim did a facemask for the evening.

We watched some more TV and played some games for the rest of our Sunday evening.

Place 72 – Day 353: Vancouver, BC – Surprise Offboard

Curtis’ Day

Curtis has a lot of team members that are off for most of this week, so it’s a busy one!

In the morning, a lot of tickets were coming in so Curtis triaged them and also did a few himself.

After this, Curtis had a team meeting which also didn’t last long as there wasn’t many people.

Curtis did some security work and then some more tickets up to lunchtime.

At lunch, the Leafs game came on and Curtis watched that! He then had that on in the background for the rest of the day.

The leafs won!

Curtis had a surprise offboard come in in the afternoon to be completed today! Therefore, Curtis did this at the end of the day.

Kim’s Day

Kim was asked to print some stuff off for a colleague popping into the office, but when she went to print the waste toner cartridge was full. So she called a technician to come in and empty it. Unfortunately, the colleague had already made their way into the office so Kim spent some time on the talking with IT to see if they can set her up on another printer but had no luck. Luckily the colleague was able to get the things done that were needed without the document, so that was a relief.

She then worked out and set up a plan for someone else to come back to the office to work. She picked some seats that they can use and sent them across for the person to pick from.

Kim spent some time running through some of the party stuff with her colleague, they checked the RSVPs and went over communications that need to go out.

We had another visitor come in to drop off a few things and pick up another charger. Shortly after that the printer technician arrived and while he was in Kim worked on a shipment and ended up calling UPS to troubleshoot an issue that she has been having in regards to printing off documents. It was a really good call, Kim wasn’t hung up on and there is now a workaround for the issue!

To end the day Kim finished up the quizzes for the UK, tomorrow she will start putting them onto Kahoot and finding the media for them too.

Evening

Once Kim got back home, we had lasagna with garlic bread and salad for dinner and got a bit into a YouTube rabbit hole!

We wat he’d a bunch of videos and then played some mini golf, followed by more videos.

Place 72 – Day 252: Vancouver BC – Newly Potted Plants & Cookies!

We woke up pretty late, had some cereal for breakfast, and then watched a bit of YouTube.

After that, we both got ready for the day…very slowly.

Curtis played some games, Kim watched some Babies on Netflix and then chatted with a friend!

After that, Kim went out to buy soil for her plants (she thought she got some before but it was plant food instead!).

Kim got the plants potted and now they have more room to grow and look a lot better!

Kim watched more Babies whilst Curtis played some games and then we made dinner!

We had ginger and lime chicken with leftover coconut rice from last night.

Kim made cookies in the evening, because why not?

We watched some TV, played some games and just had a chill evening.
