Place 72 – Day 860: Vancouver, BC – New Home Purchases!

Not A Great Sleep But A Great Breakfast

We ended up sleeping quite early last night (at least for us). Curtis had a bad headache and we had a nap and then decided once we woke up from our nap that we would just sleep instead. Curtis actually slept quite badly as his headache kept him up, but at 06:00 he took some pain medication and felt much better shortly after and we were able to sleep until 11:00. We got up and really wanted to have some strawberries and pastries, so off to our usual bakery Kim went and got some strawberries from the drug store, too. We ate our breakfast and relaxed for a bit and then Kim went out to collect a laptop from her IT guy from work so she can ship it out tomorrow.

VR Time

Once she got back and we’d both showered, it was time for some VR! We played VR for about an hour or so but Kim started to get a bit motion sick so she led down for a bit.

Hockey & Furniture Hunting

Hockey started and Curtis watched that whilst Kim went on the hunt for some furniture!

Kim found some really good furniture and secured some for tomorrow, most importantly a sofa, which we needed to get before we move in, and also a chair.

Pizza & Chair Collection

Once hockey was done, we got some pizza from our favourite place and then, once we finished eating, we went to get the new chair from an apartment just up a couple of blocks. We got the chair (just a poang from IKEA) and took that to our new apartment! We are allowed to start moving stuff in, so anything new we get we are just taking right there. We took the chair in and also checked out the views and how quiet it was (which was very!) and then left to come back home. We relaxed for the remainder of the evening and then headed to bed, thinking it was Saturday when it’s only Friday!

Place 72 – Day 507: Vancouver, BC – Finally Found An Earring

We woke up and got ourselves showered and dressed and then we headed right out.

We went out for a walk and got some breakfast on the way. We got ourselves a croissant and some coffee from the European style bakery down the road.

We had a nice long walk for a couple of hours. It was brisk outside but a pretty perfect temperature.

We stopped in at a jewelry store that Kim has bought things from before to look for a replacement earring and Kim was able to find exactly what she was looking for!

Once we got home, we watched one or two things on TV and then Kim did some admin for our PR application.

Once that was done, we played some VR for a bit and then had some chilli for dinner.

Once we ate, we went out to the shop to get the shopping done.

We got back home and Kim made cookies and then we watched some TV together for the remainder of the evening.

Place 72 – Day 500: Vancouver, BC – Best Coffee In Vancouver?

We woke up at a really reasonable time today and had some toasties for breakfast. After breakfast, we had showers and then braved the rain to get ourselves some coffee!

We had heard and read that Revolver was the best coffee place in Vancouver, so we thought we should check it out.

We got pretty wet from the rain on the way there and back, but we were excited for our coffee!

Unfortunately, it wasn’t all that impressive. By no means was the coffee bad, but we weren’t really blown away! But we are glad we got to try it and we may think about trying some different coffee from there in the future.

When we got home, we played some Minecraft and then some VR!

we played quite a bit of VR, including some Mini Golf and the other game we had been playing recently.

We then watched some more TV and followed that up with eating our remaining leftovers from our Chinese food order yesterday.

We watched Big Fat Quiz 2020 whilst we ate which was funny, then finished the night off with some more Minecraft and TV/YouTube.

Place 72 – Day 499: Vancouver, BC – New Year’s Day VR

We woke up at a decent time today and had some cinnamon buns for breakfast.

Once we got ready, we braved the rain to get a coffee. We planned to try somewhere we haven’t been yet, but it was closed so we just went to Starbucks instead.

We went back and home watched a bit of TV and then we played VR for a while!

We got a couple of new games and one of them was really good (called Pistol Whip) and we played that until we got hungry.

We ordered some dinner, but unfortunately the place was closed so they cancelled our order.

Eventually, we found a nice looking Chinese place which we ordered from and it arrived quickly!

Unfortunately, they forgot one thing and replaced another, but it was all pretty alright.

We watched some YouTube whilst we ate and then played some Minecraft.

We were really glad we got to play some VR again. We don’t do it often enough but it was so fun!

We did a batch of laundry and some work around the house and then once that was done, we took the recycling out.

We then went for a short walk and got a coffee from Small Victory.

Games & VR

We got back home and played some games together and then Kim went out to get a baguette so she could have a tuna baguette for lunch.

Once she ate that, we played some VR and actually managed to complete a game!

We then had some pizza for dinner.

We watched a few TV shows and played a few more games in the evening and that was our day. Nice and relaxed.

Family Chat

Kim had a chat with her sister and mum quickly and then got ready for the day.

Ice Cream

Kim drove out to New Westminster to have a distanced meet up with a friend!

They went to an ice cream parlour and Kim got 2 scoops, salted caramel & chocolate, both of which were delicious and the ice cream was very cheap, too!

Kim sat in a park with her friend for a long while, just chatting and catching up on things they haven’t chatted about for a while.

Sweet Chilli Potato Wedges

Once Kim got back, Curtis went out to the pharmacy nearby and bought a ceasar salad kit to go with out dinner and then we did a few housekeeping things around the apartment.

We then made sweet chilli potato wedges and had the ceasar salad as a side and it was a perfect meal! Exactly what we were thinking about.

We watched Jimmy O Yang’s Amazon Original standup special whilst we ate, followed by a bit more TV.

Kim had her Sunday bath and relaxed and then we headed to bed ready to start a new week!

We woke up and had some scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast.

We watched some comedy with breakfast and then got ourselves ready for the day.

Today was our last day in self-isolation, so we made the most of having to stay home!

As well as doing laundry, we played some Need For Speed.

We then played some VR for a long while! We discovered a new puzzle game and had a lot of fun playing that!

We had more leftover chilli for dinner and watched more comedy, followed by a film called Love Wedding Repeat which was an easy watch.

Kim had her weekly bath and pamper and then we watched more TV before sleeping.

Place 72 – Day 287: Vancouver, BC – NASA/SpaceX Launch!

We woke up at a respectful 10:30 and had a spot of breakfast. We had cheese and egg toasties which were delicious!

We watched a bit of TV and YouTube videos and then the NASA and SpaceX launch!

We then got showered.

We still need to hand over the keys for our old place and do the final check over, but we’re waiting for our former landlord to confirm when, so we expected we may have had to do that today.

The weather was terrible today, so that was another excuse to no do anything!

We played some Xbox games and watched some TV but then thought we should play some VR as we haven’t done for a while!

We have a much better area here and we can move furniture easier too, so that means we have more space!

We had great fun playing VR again but then got hungry. We had the leftover coconut rice from yesterday’s curry and our homemade chicken chili.

We watched The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo which we enjoyed but it was a little long and a little slow.

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had another busy day today.

He started the morning with setting up a laptop in Charlotte remotely, for a new starter.

After that, he had to figure out a plan for someone that had broken their MacBook screen, and after trying a few things, he decided the best thing to do was to offer an old MacBook as a replacement.

After this, Curtis did some tickets and then after lunch had a project meeting and did some project work, analysing data collected from interviews.

Kim’s Day

Kim went to join a game of cribbage but someone had dropped out, so Kim rescheduled it. She then spent a lot of her morning doing little tasks, she checked some of the policies she started at the beginning of quarantine and worked on those, reached out to her favourite venue for the winter party for a little information from them and made some plans for when she is back in the office.

Kim joined a meeting about plans for the next month. After the meeting Kim put all the information on the Wiki and even out together a calendar for it too!

Kim hosted a game of Skribbl again today, it was great fun and a fair few people joined in and got involved!

For the rest of the afternoon Kim worked on the social page for the Wiki. She put a calendar on there, as you may be able to guess, it is a new function Kim found and finally understands! She then updated it to include all the events that are coming up and added all the recurring events too.

Giving Tiger King A Go

We had cheese and crackers for dinner and then watched Tiger King we’ve been trying not to, but we decided we would give it a go anyway.

We watched some other TV and played some games/VR.

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a successful day!

He didn’t have too much planned, but a new onboard came in, so he took that on and got that done, which took a lot of the day.

He also had his daily team meeting, and his weekly team meeting, too.

After his team meeting, he had a project update meeting and then did some tickets in the late afternoon.

A pretty uneventful day!

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day by writing some documents for projects, not too exciting, but it filled her morning!

In the afternoon Kim sent out an invite to a game of Skribbl for tomorrow. She also updated the a wiki page for working at home, she added more links for people to use.

Kim then focused on mental health awareness and made an itinerary for May.

Kim has put together some calls for people to check in with themselves and each other.
As she found that most of the things she had been working on recently all related together, she made a new subsection in Wiki and moved all the pages to there.

New VR Game

We got a new VR game and we’re having a lot of fun with it!

We did our workout after work and then had some food.

We had leftover roast and watched Travel Man before playing the new VR game, Red Matter for a while.

We watched some TV and some funny YouTube videos and then headed off to bed.
