Place 72 – Day 454: Vancouver, BC – Facilities Project

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a chat with someone right away in the morning as they had deleted a lot of shared files, so Curtis had to work getting those back (which took about an hour).

After that, Curtis had a Norwegian lesson which went really, really well!

After the lesson, Curtis did a few tickets and then had some lunch.

After lunch, the day slowed down for Curtis so he got some admin done and a bit of other work. He had to investigate some quarantined files for someone and see if they are safe to allow.

Kim’s Day

To get ready for the weekly company wide meeting Kim added to her notes she has been making over the past week and checked last weeks notes.

After the meeting Kim joined another meeting that was going over a job description for a potential new role. It was really interesting as yesterday Kim had made a job description template and it was really fun to see the few things she had thought of already and also learn the many things she had forgotten or overlooked.

For the last part of the morning Kim spent some time arranging meetings for Kims facilities project that she will be working on in the afternoon, which was interesting. Then Kim wrote up and sent out the invite for the winter party, which was great as it was something that Kim had wanted to get sorted for a few days!

Before Kim went out for the afternoon she wrote up a lot of the information for the connect four tournament that she will be running over the next few weeks / months. She didn’t manage to send out the information, but she got a lot of it ready!

Kim then went out and met her colleague for the facilities project and attended a few meetings. It was a really interesting and fun afternoon that Kim will be able to say more about at some point!

After all the meetings Kim and her colleague went to a craft store to pick up a few items for an upcoming event. When she got home Kim wrote up a summary of the day and then sent out the information and sign up sheet for the connect four tournament! Today was a long, successful and very fun day!

Evening

Once Kim got back home and finished her little bit of work, we had the final bit of lasagna and watched some TV. That was pretty much all we did for the evening!

Place 72 – Day 266: Vancouver, BC – Gotta Sell Stuff

Apartment Viewings

We had a bunch of people come and look at our apartment today, which pretty much took up our time.

We had breakfast and then at 12:00, the people started arriving.

We had 4 sets of people which took a look and this took us to about 14:45.

After our viewings, we listed our sofa and some other stuff we can’t take to our new apartment for sale.

Quick Shop & Spider Man

After this, Kim went and did a quick shop, which didn’t take long at all!

We had chicken tacos for dinner and watched Spider Man: Far From Home. We thought it was alright, but not as good as the previous.

Spider Man: Far From Home

Our Rating:- 5/10

We finished that up with some games and TV.

Place 72 – Day 262: Vancouver, BC – Showing Our Apartment

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a lot of tickets to do this morning.

After Curtis got the tickets done, he had a short computer checkup with someone to ensure it was working how it should be and then did another one of these shortly after.

In the afternoon, Curtis did some updates to the document he created yesterday and then had to contact an external vendor for support on some software.

After that, it started to get quieter, and then someone reached out for help with something that has been ongoing for a while now.

Curtis assisted her, but didn’t get the problem solved after an hour or so, so he has setup a call for tomorrow to discuss with the relevant people.

Curtis then left to meet Kim downtown for some apartment viewings.

Kim’s Day

Today Kim joined another cribbage game that wasn’t hers so she left that and went through her emails. She then hosted another game of who are you and it was so much fun. Less argumentative than the last game, but people really seemed to enjoy it.

Kim then soent some time reaching out to to building, cleaners and handyman company in regards to plans for tomorrow. She got most things sorted and organised which is great.

In the early afternoon Kim got a response back in regards to an invite she is sending out for a gratitude call later in the week. Kim amended the email and sent it out.

As she has to be in early tomorrow, and she forgot to set things up last week, Kim decided to head into the office and make sure she has everything ready for the renovations tomorrow. She got the whiteboards in the right place, collected the wall brackets for the TV and tested the paint too.

More Apartment Viewings & Showing Our Apartment

We met in the city to look at another couple of apartments.

The first was in the same building as one we looked at yesterday and it was nice, but the location was still not great.

We then went to another which was nice, but the bedroom was very small and the deal breaker was the building nextdoor which had some interesting characters.

We then went to another which is still a bit downtown but was very nice! A good size and then landlord was a very nice lady!

We headed back home and got back right in time for our landlord to show 3 sets of people around the apartment, one of which was virtual.

We had a bit of a discussion with our landlord and then finally got to relax at 20:00, having dinner (just a frozen pizza because we were too lazy to cook anything) and watched some TV for the remainder.

We hit 28,000 all time blog views today!

Thank you all so much!

Place 72 – Day 261: Vancouver, BC – Deep Clean & Apartment Viewings

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a pretty slow day, but tried to make the most of it.

He did some admin as usual and then had his team meeting.

Curtis got some tickets done and then scheduled some more laptop checkups with people.

Curtis had his weekly team meeting at 13:00, but he had to leave it at around 13:15 as we had an apartment viewing!

Curtis spent the afternoon making a page for new starters to use to get around the different applications and how to login to them etc. This certainly kept him busy!

Our Lunchtime Viewing

We had a viewing at lunchtime, which was just across the street!

It took us all of 5 minutes to get across there.

We really enjoyed the look of this apartment and it’s in the same area we are in now which is a plus.

Kim’s Day

Kim drafted up an invite for her department to have a games lunch on Friday. She then downloaded steam and some games for it.

This week for yoga Kim had to pick a video. The one she found was the perfect length and focused on stretching for beginners, it was really good.

One thing that Kim had forgotten to do was upload the monthly talks to the folder, so she did that and organised the general receptionist email address. Kim doesn’t often use the email address, but there are many folders that don’t make too much sense.

Kim spent some of the afternoon writing up an invite for people to join on a gratitude call this week. May is mental health awareness week or month in different countries so there are lots of activities planned with that in mind.

Deep Clean & 2 More Viewings

We had 2 more viewings in the evening, but first we had to clean! We have people coming to view our apartment tomorrow, so we have to make sure it’s as clean as possible!

We finished that and then walked down to the city.

We looked at the first apartment, it was very small and we didn’t realise it was furnished which wasn’t ideal for us, so we probably won’t be going for that.

We then looked at another that was bigger but a bit old and not in the best location.

We headed home and were hungry, so made sure we had dinner when we got back.

We had vegetable chilli, which was really good!

After dinner, we filled in an application form for the apartment we liked and then relaxed for the rest of the evening.
