Place 72 – Day 864: Vancouver, BC – Sofa Is Built & Registered For Vaccine!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis went to the office in the morning and had to setup 2 laptops, as well as find equipment to send out to the new hires.

The office is running low on equipment before they get an order, so finding some items was a bit of a challenge.

Curtis finished that up at about 12:00 and then did some tickets whilst he waited for someone to arrive to collect a monitor.

Once that person was gone, Curtis had a meeting with a colleague to discuss a process and then once he was done with that meeting, he walked home and had some lunch.

After lunch, he had to generate some reports for someone and had some tickets to deal with which took him nicely to the end of the day.

Kim’s Day

Kim had a day full of back to back meetings and interviews! In the morning Kim had her team meeting to go over the plan for the week. She went from this into an interview, then straight into the weekly meeting and then into a second interview. She then had a meeting with the hiring managers to discuss the interviews. It was a really productive and interesting morning!

To start the afternoon Kim had a meeting about planning and next steps for a project. It was so interesting and it turns out Kim was approaching it all the wrong way, she learnt so much!

For a good chunk of the afternoon Kim worked with her teammate on setting up interviews and sending out paperwork. She then had a chat with another teammate before heading out to the new apartment to continue building the sofa. She also had a great chat with a friend while she did the final bits to the sofa.

Sofa Is Built & Registered For Vaccine!

Before work this morning, we registered for our notification to get a vaccine! We don’t get a vaccine for a while, but a new registration site went live so you can get instructions and a code for when you can get a vaccine.

This makes it feel just that little bit closer!

After work, Kim went over to the apartment to complete the sofa as the items we were missing arrived in the mail and we now have a constructed sofa, which is great.

Kim chatted with a friend after that and then headed back to our current apartment so we could have some dinner.

We ate delicious lemon chicken!

We got notice that there will be a viewing tomorrow, which is the first one with the new owners. We’ve been enjoying not having any, and our final week is the worst possible time, but what can we do. That’ll be happening tomorrow evening but maybe we get out for an evening walk.

Place 72 – Day 558: Vancouver, BC – Offered An Apartment!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis didn’t have many meetings today, which was good as he had quite a bit to do!

He did have a team meeting at 10:30 but then the remainder of the day was mostly free to get tickets done.

At 15:00, Curtis had a meeting with an external company and some colleagues to discuss some integrations and that was very successful.

At the end of the day, as well as some tickets, Curtis had to review an invoice and see how some money can be saved.

Kim’s Day

Today there were two new starters and one is in Kim’s team, which is exciting! To start the day Kim had a quick catch up with her colleague to go over tasks for the week and chat about on going projects.

Kim then hosted the onboarding for the two new starters. It went well and they finished early, which was good! The team Kim is on then met for an informal chat to welcome the new starter. It was really lovely to make some time to hang out on the first day!

To end the morning Kim joined the HR meeting to go over the projects going on for that side of the team. So much happened towards the end of last week so there was a lot to update people on.

In the afternoon Kim was in various team meetings with the new starter to ensure that they have everything they need and give them some direction on things that need to be done. It was a busy and good day.

Evening

We found out today that we got offered the apartment we really like, who is exciting, and we think we’ll take it but we want to go and have another look tomorrow just to make sure.

We went out for a nice walk after work just to get out.

We got back and made the last Hello Fresh meal, which was chicken with lemon pesto and couscous. It was actually very delicious!

Curtis then watched hockey once we ate and we the chilled out together once that was finished.

Place 72 – Day 557: Vancouver, BC – A Day of Playing Games

We woke up at the same time as yesterday and got ourselves ready to go to another viewing.

We got to the viewing and took a look around. We weren’t massively impressed, to be honest, it was mostly just ok.

We left here and went to the place we got breakfast yesterday to get another one today! As well as our croissant and coffee, we got a cinnamon bun to share as they always looked so good. It was actually pretty nice.

For some of the day, we watched TV and got some tax documents done.

For most of the afternoon and evening we played some games which was super fun!

We eventually got pretty hungry so made another of the Hello Fresh meals, which was vegetarian and the best one yet. It was a Greek inspired dish with chickpeas and vegetables with a tasty sauce. Very delicious.

We watched TV and Kim had a bath to round out the day.

Place 72 – Day 556: Vancouver, BC – A Great Apartment

We woke up, got showered and went right out to view an apartment. This apartment is just down the street from us and we had high hopes about it.

The apartment was almost perfect for us. We really liked it, so much so that we applied for it!

We left here and went to get ourselves some breakfast and then came back home. We got croissants and coffee which was the perfect pick me up.

We then had a chat with Kim’s family as it is her Dad’s birthday and she then played some games with her family whilst Curtis went to get his haircut.

Curtis finished his haircut and then walked right to meet Kim and go for another apartment viewing. This apartment was the one Kim went to view during the week so she went to have a second look and Curtis got his first look.

We actually didn’t like the apartment really at all on the second look, which was a shame.

We walked back home and Curtis watched hockey whilst Kim relaxed.

We then had leftovers from last night and watched some TV and a film.

Place 72 – Day 553: Vancouver, BC – Training, Training, Training

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a small team meeting at 09:30 and then at 10:30 he had a training session from someone on his team that was showing everyone how to do some something with a security software. This was very helpful and interesting!

After that was done, they’re was another team meeting that lasted for 2.5 hours!

Once Curtis had some lunch, he then had a training session in which he went over some software with someone so that they knew how to use it and had the chance to ask any questions. The person really appreciated that and Curtis felt good helping them!

He did a bit of admin after that and then the day was over and it was time to watch hockey.

Kim’s Day

To start the day Kim set up accounts for new starters and set up a few things for them. Kim then joined a meeting in regards to hiring with another department. She then joined a team meeting to discuss all things operations.

At midday Kim hosted the social lunch and they played a couple of games of among us. It was so fun and everyone had a good time!

In the afternoon Kim sent out a few emails and worked in some projects. She also had a meeting about HR things and then hosted a training session with her team mate. To finish the day Kim continued setting up a laptop for a new starter.

Evening

Kim went to go to a viewing of an apartment whilst Curtis was watching hockey, but the person was late, which actually meant that Curtis was able to go too as hockey finished in time.

Curtis met Kim there and we looked around the apartment. It was large and very nice, but there are a few things that we aren’t sure about.

We got back home and Kim chatted with a former colleague and then made Butter Chicken from our HelloFresh box which we got for free! It was pretty tasty and super easy to make.

We watched some TV and relaxed and chatted about the apartments we have seen to decide our current rankings.

Place 72 – Day 551: Vancouver, BC – Re-Viewing An Apartment

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had to help someone that messages his last night and was able to fix their issues!

Curtis then had a meeting with his team, followed by a meeting to go over a process flow with some of the members of his team.

There were some changes needed to the flow, so Curtis spent some time doing that and then had some lunch.

Once that was done, Curtis had some tickets to do in the afternoon.

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day by sending a few emails and making plans. She then had two meetings with her colleagues to discuss the week coming and what happened last week.

Kim then had a meeting with someone from another team to discuss a project that they are working on together. The meeting overran but they managed to get so many things done, it was such a success!

Around midday Kim cohosted an interview that went really well. Then once she was back from lunch Kim managed to get some more paperwork done before meeting with the other person from the interview to discuss how it went.

In the afternoon Kim also managed to take some time to get a few things done for an event happening soon. Then she popped out to look at the apartment that they saw a few weeks ago. Now that Curtis and Kim are getting a bit more serious about looking for places Kim wanted to see the unit again to be sure it might be a good fit for them.

When she got home Kim continued working on paperwork and the event.

Evening

Curtis watched hockey whilst Kim viewed the apartment and whilst she did a bit more work once she was back.

Once that was done, Kim made a delicious egg fried rice and we relaxed for the remainder of the evening.

Place 72 – Day 550: Vancouver, BC – Busy Sunday!

We woke up around the same time as yesterday, with really no plan.

It was meant to rain all day, so we didn’t think we would get out for a walk, but the weather wasn’t bad so we went out!

Before that, though, Kim ran out and got us a croissant each for breakfast and a coffee and we chilled out for a while.

We did a bit of laundry and got ourselves ready, then left.

We got a coffee and just walked and talked for way longer than we planned to, but it was nice and wasn’t actually too cold outside.

We got back home and watched a bit of TV for a bit, as well as doing some more laundry and house work.

We had another apartment in the building to view, so we did that and then went right to do our weekly shop.

We got the shop done and got back home, fairly hungry! Kim made a really nice white wine chicken pasta which was perfect.

We took out the recycling after dinner and then we watched a bit of TV before Kim had a nice relaxing bath.

Place 72 – Day 528: Vancouver, BC – More Apartment Viewings

We woke up at a decent time and got ourselves showered and breakfast.

We then cleaned up and tidied the apartment for a couple of hours whilst we waited for the agent to arrive.

Once they arrived, we left and went to get something Kim ordered from Sephora and then we found another place doing the fancy hot chocolates.

We got Kim a mint hot chocolate and Curtis for a coffee.

We walked for a while and were wearing good clothes this time so we didn’t get cold!

We got back and a few viewings had overran so we waited in the lobby for a bit.

We got back up to the apartment and got ourselves warmed up!

Curtis watched hockey and Kim had a call with a friend, followed by a call with some colleagues to play some games and chat a bit.

We then went to the supermarket as we have pretty much no food in the apartment.

We got back home, had some dinner and just relaxed for the remainder of the night.

Place 72 – Day 477: Vancouver, BC – Showing Off Some Projects

Curtis’ Day

Curtis checked on someone this morning with regards to the email work he did yesterday for them.

It didn’t work! So he scheduled a time to try and fix it for them.

After this, Curtis had another email fix to do for someone, but with a different mailbox. He’ll need to do this with a couple of others too, but he’s testing it with this person first. This one seemed to go well, but only time shall tell!

Curtis then did the fix for the other person from the morning and then he discovered a new project through something someone was discussing in the company.

In the afternoon, Curtis did some security training which is company mandated, which was just watching some videos.

He did some other work and admin and then was done for the day.

Kim’s Day

Today Kim arranged for another chat with someone who had interviewed earlier in the week, as they had a couple of questions that came up after reviewing the interview and their application. So before that happened Kim hopped on a call with her colleague to go over the questions they wanted to ask. They both then joined the call and had a wonderful chat with the candidate.

After the chat Kim and her colleague called again to go over some information needed for the HR software. They updated all the missing fields in one section, which means the software is pretty much set up and ready to go.

Today Kim was also showing the CEO and other executive members the facilities project, so Kim headed out to the location, showed them the projects, informed them of ideas and answered any questions. Kim was so pleased with how it went as everyone seemed to be happy with the options.

Once Kim was home and had eaten lunch she organised the delivery of the laptop thats going out to a new starter. She also sent out some invites for the connect four tournament games next week.

For the rest of the day Kim worked on the quiz for the winter party! She added all the media and answers for the first 13 questions and then added an additional 10 questions! So she only has a few more to do before its finished!

Evening

We didn’t have much of a plan for dinner, so we just had some frozen pizza.

We watched some TV and played some games then Kim watched the remainder of her film she was watching whilst Curtis played some games.

Place 72 – Day 268: Vancouver, BC – Back To Viewings Again!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a pretty relaxed start to the day and then had to get some information for some security metrics.

Once Curtis got those, he had his team meeting quickly.

Curtis did some tickets and then had a meeting with a vendor, which wasn’t overly successful.

Curtis had lunch shortly after and then had 3 meetings back to back.

Curtis had his weekly team meeting and then after that he had a project update meeting.

After the update meeting, Curtis had a call with someone to free up some space on their laptop.

Curtis got some more admin done and then was done with the day. Someone was meant to be coming to look at our sofa, but they did not.

Kim’s Day

All of the invites for Kims social events ran out last week, so she started her day by adding new links and extending the recurrences.

One if Kims colleagues is unable to get the mail this week, so Kim said she would. It also makes no sense to just walk there and back, so Kim spent the rest of the day in the office. Once she got there, Kim joined the Yoga class.

On the way into work, Kim saw a cool painting on the wall!

Kim then met someone who dropped their old laptop back at the office. Once she had the laptop she helped IT with trying to set it up. They hit a roadblock so decided to let it try to sort itself out and come back to it later.

Kim then hopped on a call with someone in sales to go over a mini project they need doing. She will be helping the team categorise and organise their filing system online. After this Kim had a quick question for her colleague in regards to some of the older marketing stock thats lying around, so she called her and they had a quick chat.

Kim spent a lot of the afternoon reaching out to people in regards to sending things back to the office. Midway through the afternoon she had a quick call with a friend from another department. It was great to have a nice chat with him.

After that call Kim had another meeting with IT where they bailed on the original laptop and ended up getting a second laptop to work. After this Kim sent a few more emails out and then headed home.

On the walk home, kim timed how long it will take to get from their new apartment to their building and its about half the time it currently takes her, which is good. She also saw someone wearing a purge mask, which was a little unsettling.

Back To Viewings Again

We were told that someone had got our apartment already, so noone needed to view it, but that fell through, meaning we had to get the apartment ready for viewing!

We cleaned the apartment and then we waited for people to arrive to view it. There were about 7 people coming to see our apartment and the first 2 did not show up!

A few people did arrive and came to look at the apartment.

By 20:00 they were gone and we had leftover risotto for dinner.

We got some things tidied and packed around the apartment ready for Thursday’s move out/in day!
