Place 72 – Day 393: Vancouver, BC – Mello Doughnuts

Preparing

We woke up pretty late and had the remaining croissants for breakfast.

It took us a while to get going today, but we did eventually.

We got showered and then we started to do some packing! We are going away from Tuesday – late Friday (nowhere too far, but it should be fun!), So we needed to pack, of course.

We packed a bunch of things and decided what we need to take, also.

Mello Doughnuts

Once we did that, it was about 16:00 and we decided we wanted to get a doughnut!

We found a place which was a 20 minute walk, but it had great reviews and the flavours sounded good, so we took the walk there.

The area it was in wasn’t the greatest, but we queued up and got our doughnuts!

Kim got a chocolate old-fashioned and Curtis got a lemon doughnut.

We didn’t eat them right away as it was nearly dinner time, so we saved them for dessert.

Pirates of The Caribbean

We got home and had our dinner, which was just some sweet and sour chicken with rice, peas and sweetcorn. But, before we did that, we had a Vietnamese coffee, because why not!

We watched Pirates of The Caribbean (the first one) whilst we ate dinner.

Once we did that, Kim had a relaxing shower and did a facemask, then we watched some more TV.

We have work for just one day tomorrow, and then we’re off for our small trip!

Place 72 – Day 386: Vancouver, BC – Clearing Stuff Out

We woke up at 10:30 and both actually felt really good after our night of sleep.

We had cheese toasties for breakfast and then got ready for the day.

Once we got ready, we relaxed and had leftover pizza as a snack along with homemade Vietnamese coffee which turned out much better than the last time.

We finished that and then went to the shop to get our weekly shop done.

After the shop, we went down to the storage locker and loaded a bunch of stuff we are going to donate into the car. Kim is also donating a bunch of stuff from work, so it makes sense to donate it all at the same time.

Once that was done, Kim started on making dinner.

Kim made a Thai red curry along with a lazy egg. It was terrific!

We watched some YouTube videos during dinner and then played some more Tony Hawk after eating.

Place 72 – Day 330: Vancouver, BC – Warm Sunny Walk

Birthday Chat

We had a chat with Curtis’ family as it is his mum’s birthday today!

We chatted for quite a while and then hung up and started our day.

Shopping

We went to get the shopping done and actually paid to park underground as we were getting a lot of heavy and bulky things, so it was easier to do it that way.

We got back home and decided to go out for a nice walk as the weather was beautiful!

Warm Sunny Walk

We walked down to the seawall and just kept walking! The sun was beating down and just beautiful!

We walked all the way around to English Bay Beach, but it got a little too busy, so we headed back home.

We got a Vietnamese coffee on the way home, because they’re delicious so we can’t say no!

Homemade Thai Curry

We got home and Kim ordered some things online and then she made a Thai curry!

The curry was delicious and Kim also made a ‘lazy egg’ with it, too, which was something we really liked in Thailand!

Place 72 – Day 71: Vancouver, BC – Things Needed to Be Done

Hockey Stick

Curtis got up at 09:15 and got ready to walk up the road. He was meeting someone selling a hockey stick and it was only about 5 minutes walk from home.

Curtis got there, paid for the stick and had a little chat with the guy before he walked home.

Once he got back home, Kim was freshly awake and then Curtis made some cereal for breakfast.

We watched a bit of TV and then headed out to get stuff done!

Pharmacy

We went to collect something from the pharmacy but had to wait for about 45 minutes, so we wasted time by getting a coffee, which turned out to be a big mistake!

We went to Whole Foods who had an Allegro coffee shop which we saw does Vietnamese coffee, so we got a large one each.

This was not nice. It actually made us both feel a little sick.

We went back to the drug store and they weren’t ready yet, so we got a few items we needed, such as bodywash, baby wipes & hair wax.

We got the prescription finally and then walked back towards home. On the way, we got a few things from the supermarket.

Important Admin!

We got back and for about 4 hours we got some admin done. We sent money to our Canadian account from New Zealand as we both got big tax refunds there!

As well as that, Kim did some research for her presents for Curtis’ birthday and a few other admin tasks, such as looking for a car to buy and Curtis bought his hockey gear, too!

A very productive day, but not particularly exciting.

We had mushroom pasta for dinner and a side salad.

We watched some more TV and then went to bed. Neither of us have felt very good after the coffee earlier!

Place 72 – Day 19: Vancouver,BC – Credit Card & A Vietnamese Coffee

Picking Up A Credit Card

We had a lazy morning this morning and then Curtis got a call saying his credit card was ready to collect, so we got ready and went down there to collect it.

Once we collected it, we started walking back home and saw a Vietnamese restaurant, so we got tempted and just had to go in!

We sat and drank our coffee which was mediocre, and then walked on home.

We got back and watched TV for a bit and then decided it was dinner time.

Dinner & A Walk

Just before we had dinner, we went down to the mobile carrier store to get them to setup auto payments from the credit card so we don’t have to worry about paying it manually each month.

We had the same as we had a few days ago, with general tsao and sweet chilli sauce.

We sat and had a chat with one of the people we are currently living with and Curtis also got electricity billing setup for our next place, which is fun!

Further TV

We watched a bit more TV and then slept at a decent time as Kim has a phone interview for an interesting app in which you can take on part time work.

Kim then has an interview in the afternoon tomorrow, the 3rd interview of a role, and Curtis is hoping to hear back tomorrow, too!

Place 49 – Day 361: Auckland – Wednesday Night Vietnamese Coffee

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to the client around the same time as previously and someone arrived shorty after to let him in.

In the morning, Curtis got something completed from yesterday and another completed from scratch, also.

At 10:30, Curtis had it planned to see someone and get their PC sorted, but they were not there, so he was unable to get that done until around 11:30. Unfortunately, this one took ages to configure itself, so it wasn’t done until 15:00.

After this, Curtis started another but then left around 16:00. Curtis’ colleague got one completed also so there are only a couple remaining to complete, which means it should be completed this week!

Curtis drove home, with little traffic.

Both of us;

We had dinner shortly after we were both home. Dinner was just leftovers from yesterday, but we added more BBQ sauce to the pork, which made it even more delicous!

After dinner, we sat and watched Blue Planet 2 but we both became tired around 19:00 which is too early, so we decided to go out. We drove to Takapuna, parked up and walk to Tok Tok, where we just wanted a Vietnamese coffee!

The restaurant was very busy, but we got a seat briefly and enjoyed our coffee.

We had some people sit next to us and we briefly chatted with them. They realised we were British so asked if we’ve enjoyed our time here and we chatted about it for a bit.

After our delicious coffee, we went back to the car but taking the long route so we could have a bit of a walk.

Once we got back home, we watched a bit more TV and then went to sleep!
