Place 72 – Day 440: Vancouver, BC – Making Strides With Norwegian

Curtis’ Day

Curtis was meant to have a meeting with someone in his company and an external support person, but the external person didn’t appear, so it didn’t happen!

Curtis therefore got some other work done.

At 10:30, Curtis had his Norwegian ‘lesson’ and learned a lot, actually, which he was really happy about! He felt he wasn’t speaking very good Norwegian, but learning a lot was a good feeling.

After that, Curtis spent most of the rest of the day getting tickets done as well as some security work that came up.

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day with the weekly company wide meeting, it was great to meet everyone, hear what is happening in other departments and get to know the product a bit better.

For most of the day Kim was researching softwares that might be needed soon. So it was a lot of finding one thing, reading about it, heading to a comparison site and then writing up about it.

In the afternoon, one of the companies got back to Kim so they had a quick call to go over some questions, talk about what Kim is looking for and learn more about pricing. This was a great help and Kim was then able to write a more precise overview as a result. She will start to set up a few more meetings with other companies over the next couple of days.

Towards the end if the day Kim reached out to a friend to see if they would be interested in a collaboration between the two companies that they both work in, so that could be interesting!

Evening

We had chicken chilli with potato for dinner which was delicious and we watched some Bake Off with it.

We played a lot of Need for Speed and Curtis was keeping up on the (far too close) US election.

Place 72 – Day 268: Vancouver, BC – Back To Viewings Again!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a pretty relaxed start to the day and then had to get some information for some security metrics.

Once Curtis got those, he had his team meeting quickly.

Curtis did some tickets and then had a meeting with a vendor, which wasn’t overly successful.

Curtis had lunch shortly after and then had 3 meetings back to back.

Curtis had his weekly team meeting and then after that he had a project update meeting.

After the update meeting, Curtis had a call with someone to free up some space on their laptop.

Curtis got some more admin done and then was done with the day. Someone was meant to be coming to look at our sofa, but they did not.

Kim’s Day

All of the invites for Kims social events ran out last week, so she started her day by adding new links and extending the recurrences.

One if Kims colleagues is unable to get the mail this week, so Kim said she would. It also makes no sense to just walk there and back, so Kim spent the rest of the day in the office. Once she got there, Kim joined the Yoga class.

On the way into work, Kim saw a cool painting on the wall!

Kim then met someone who dropped their old laptop back at the office. Once she had the laptop she helped IT with trying to set it up. They hit a roadblock so decided to let it try to sort itself out and come back to it later.

Kim then hopped on a call with someone in sales to go over a mini project they need doing. She will be helping the team categorise and organise their filing system online. After this Kim had a quick question for her colleague in regards to some of the older marketing stock thats lying around, so she called her and they had a quick chat.

Kim spent a lot of the afternoon reaching out to people in regards to sending things back to the office. Midway through the afternoon she had a quick call with a friend from another department. It was great to have a nice chat with him.

After that call Kim had another meeting with IT where they bailed on the original laptop and ended up getting a second laptop to work. After this Kim sent a few more emails out and then headed home.

On the walk home, kim timed how long it will take to get from their new apartment to their building and its about half the time it currently takes her, which is good. She also saw someone wearing a purge mask, which was a little unsettling.

Back To Viewings Again

We were told that someone had got our apartment already, so noone needed to view it, but that fell through, meaning we had to get the apartment ready for viewing!

We cleaned the apartment and then we waited for people to arrive to view it. There were about 7 people coming to see our apartment and the first 2 did not show up!

A few people did arrive and came to look at the apartment.

By 20:00 they were gone and we had leftover risotto for dinner.

We got some things tidied and packed around the apartment ready for Thursday’s move out/in day!

Place 86 – Day 1: Comox, BC 🇨🇦 – Travel, Forest Walk & Evening Get Together

Travel

We were up early, around 06:00, and hopped in the car and headed up to horseshoe bay.

We got to the ferry port and had a little nap on the car until we boarded.

We got onto the boat and got a coffee for the crossing.

We got to the other side and drove from Nanaimo to Comox, where our friend lives!

We met him at his house and had some lunch which his mum prepared for us.

Forest Walk

Brody took us our for a walk around and to a town up the road for a walk around the forest!

There was some very large trees and beautiful views. This was a great relaxing walk, exactly what we needed!

Evening Get Together

We went and had a beer at a local brewery and then we went to meet Brody’s friends out at a beach so they could walk their dog.

We walked the dog and then headed to the supermarket to get some food and snacks.

We went to Brody’s friends house and took a lasagne that Brody’s mum made.

We all chatted and met a bunch of people and had a bunch of really good food, from salads to pasta to the lasagne!

We just hung out at this house and had some really good chats and a really good time.

Place 72 – Day 158: Vancouver, BC – Hot Chocolate & Jojo Rabbit

Shopping

We had our breakfast then got ready to head out.

We went out to get some stuff for the week at the shop.

We weren’t out at the shop for too long, so when we got back we decided we wanted to go to the cinema!

Hot Chocolate & Jojo Rabbit

We had been talking about watching Jojo Rabbit for a while, so we booked in to see that.

We didn’t have anything to do until that time, so we walked down to the Lindt store in the city to get a hot chocolate! It was pretty nice, though the definitely burned the milk.

This used enough time before the film, so we then walked to the cinema.

We got to the cinema very early so queued for some drinks and then secured seats, which was lucky as it was very busy!

We really enjoyed the film! We thought it was the perfect blend of comedy, story telling & drama. Really good film, 10/10!

Jojo Rabbit

Our Rating:- 10/10

We came home after the film and just chilled out. We had some leftovers for dinner, watched some TV and got an early night.

Curtis has an exciting delivery coming tomorrow!

Place 72 – Day 133: Vancouver, BC – Christmas Day 2019

The Breakfast

Kim went out at 06:00 to go and feed the cats, but came back and went back to bed.

We had the breakfast that Curtis’ family used to have at Christmas, which is pastries and strawberries!

Curtis had some coffee and that was the breakfast done!

The Families

We spoke with Kim’s family after breakfast, which was really nice! Kim opened her presents from her sister, which were some thermals and some items from Lush! Curtis got a thermos, which is orange, his favourite colour!

We then spoke with Curtis’ family and it was really nice as we haven’t spoken to them in a long while.

The Gavin & Stacey

We watched Gavin & Stacey’s Christmas special and it was excellent…exactly what we wanted to be and it’s setup to have more episodes, which we REALLY want!

Whilst we watched this, we had some cheese as a snack.

The Presents

We opened the rest of our presents from each other after watching the TV show.

Curtis got some whiskey and some cocktail mixes, which are things Curtis loves! He also got a hat and a jumper, but he did know of these before Christmas.

Kim got a small LED alarm clock for the bedroom as Kim wanted one that wasn’t too light but was bright enough to see the time at night.

Kim got a new handbag and purse, but she knew about these. She also got a cheese board with a built in utensils draw with the cheese knives in! All of it is made of bamboo, too.

The Dinner

We eventually made dinner, which didn’t take that long.

It was excellent though! Kim got some pigs in blankets brought over from England by someone at work and we had those with chicken, Yorkshire puddings, potatoes, stuffing and vegetables.

After our terrific meal, we watched some TV and then watched some shows on Netflix.

We plan to do more of the same tomorrow and the rest of this evening!

Place 72 – Day 194: Vancouver, BC – Exciting News!

Coffee & Weekly Shop

We went out for our usual coffee and weekly shop this early afternoon.

We had a grilled cheese for breakfast and then got ready to head out.

We got christmassy coffees today. Curtis got a cinnamon dolce latte which is phenomenal and Kim got the equally phenomenal peppermint mocha.

Once we were done with coffee, we went up to Homesense so Kim could look for a new purse. We found one and just bought that.

We went from here to the supermarket where we did quite a quick, small shop for the week.

Hockey, Exciting News & Curry

We got back home and Curtis watched hockey. Kim got some meal prep done and put some things away into the freezer for future use.

We got a message from our friends Danielle & Josh in New Zealand who said they would like to chat with us! We spoke with them and they said they are planning to come out and see us next year!

We were so excited, we’ve already started planning what we want to do with them.

We chatted with them for quite a while, just catching up and talking about what we might do when they’re here.

We are very excited to see them again as we have missed them!

After hockey was done, we ordered a curry! We learned from the portion sizes last time and just ordered one curry, some popodoms, a samosa each and one naan.

This was exactly the food we wanted! We watched Stuber whilst we ate which was a silly film, but very funny and easy to watch.

After that, we watched a couple more TV shows and that was our night!
