Place 72 – Day 896: Vancouver, BC – Our First Art

We woke up at 09:45 and Curtis had to go and meet our landlord outside quick to give them their mail that was delivered here.

We were pretty awake after that, so we got up and had some breakfast. We had some scrambled eggs on toast and relaxed until we spoke with Kim’s family for a while.

After we spoke with Kim’s family, we got ourselves ready and went out to Homesense, grabbing a coffee on the way.

We got ourselves a few more items for the apartment, most notably a large canvas of a nice art piece! We will need to hang it, then we will show a picture then, but we think it’s going to look great.

Kim then went out to a few more shops to get a few other items and well as return a few things.

Whilst Kim was our doing this, Curtis watched hockey.

We ordered Thai food for dinner as we really fancied it after we saw it in a TV show yesterday. The food was pretty good!

We ate dinner and then for the remainder of the evening we watched TV.

Place 72 – Day 890: Vancouver, BC – Homemade Cappuccinos

Cappucinos

For breakfast, we had croissants we bought yesterday, but also homemade cappuccinos which were delicious!

Kim is excellent at steaming the milk correctly, so we really enjoyed our fancy coffee for the morning.

Longer Walk Than Normal

We had no plans today and the weather was lovely, so we went for a nice long walk. W

We walked down the seawall, as usual, but we also went through to 2 different beaches and through the park, which was less busy, beautiful and just overall very nice!

Thai Green Curry

We did a bit of housework once we got back home and then made a chicken Thai green curry! It was delicious though we do like it a little spicier.

Bath

Kim had her usual weekly bath in the evening and then we relaxed together. Kim is off work for the week, so she is excited to relax a little, though she will likely do some work still.

Place 72 – Day: 387 – Locarno Beach Walk

Locarno Beach Walk

Today was a day off for Labour Day, and we wanted to get out the house today, but not do anything crazy, so we decided a beach walk was perfect!

We had some toasties and then slowly got ready.

We drove out to the Jericho Park/Locarno Beach area and struggled to find any parking.

After a long while of driving around, we managed to get some parking a bit further away.

We walked up to the beach and just walked, walked and walked!

The beach was pretty busy, but we managed to walk around safely distanced.

We got back home around 17:00 and relaxed a bit before having leftovers from yesterday’s thai curry for dinner.

We watched a film and some TV and then headed to bed to get ready for the short work week.

Place 72 – Day 181: Vancouver, BC – 3 Year Wedding Anniversary!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had his whole day mapped out on his calendar by 10:00!

After his usual admin and team catch up, Curtis started the day setting up a laptop remotely for someone in Charlotte.

Once that laptop was complete, an hour or so later, Curtis got started on a laptop he needed to setup in his office.

Along the way, he was claiming some tickets and completing some quick ones too.

The afternoon consisted of completing said tickets he took earlier in the day as well as doing some research for some more challenging tickets and a ticket in which someone had requested an alternative software to a supported software at the company.

Curtis left the office and headed to meet Kim.

Kim’s Day

Today Kim did the Wiki project. That’s about it really. She had her weekly catch up in the morning with her colleague and the focused on the the Wiki project for the day.

She removed old pages and condensed information. She also booked a dentist appointment and sorted out her expenses for her glasses in the morning.

3 Year Wedding Anniversary!

Today is our 3 year wedding anniversary!

We celebrated with our meal on Saturday, but we celebrated a little more this evening, too!

We met after work and went for a cheap but nice Thai dinner not far from Kim’s workplace.

After our dinner, we had plenty of time to kill, so we went for a drink and dessert at Cactus Club.

We each got an espresso martini, which wasn’t very nice, and Kim got a chocolate lava cake.

We sat here for a bit until we had to leave to head to the cinema!

We watched the film The Gentleman, which is a new UK gangster film. This was really, really good, though it was very rude!

The Gentleman

Our Rating:- 10/10

We left here and headed home, after a really good night! We relaxed for a bit more with some wine and then headed to bed.

A perfect Tuesday night and a perfect anniversary day!

Place 72 – Day 144: Vancouver, BC – Snow Prepared!

Snow Prepared

We got up and out fairly quickly this morning, to try and get ourselves prepared with snow clothes!

We plan to go skiing/snowboarding, so we needed to make sure we had the right clothing.

We started about a 20 minute walk from our house at a store called Sport Junkies.

This place is mostly a used sporting goods store, but it has been recommended to us by a few people so we checked it out.

Curtis successfully found some trousers for the snow, and pretty fast, but Kim was unable to find anything.

We left here and went to Winners to see if Kim could find anything for herself, which she did! She got some white Superdry snow trousers.

After this success, it certainly seemed that we deserved a reward, so we sat in Starbucks with a coffee for a bit.

After this, we did a larger shop at the supermarket as we needed a few general items that we don’t purchase too often.

We got these and then headed back home.

Homemade Thai Green Curry

Once we got back, it was time to make dinner!

Kim made a Thai green curry, which was terrific!

We ate this, watched some TV, did some laundry and cleaned the bathroom…because fun Sunday things!

Place 72 – Day 181: Vancouver, BC – Thai Oil Massage, ‘Luzia’ Cirque Du Soleil & Cheese & Wine!

More Pole

Kim left fairly early to catch the sea bus over to Granville Island so she could watch a couple more pole dancing performances from people she knows.

After she was done with that, she walked to meet Curtis near a massage parlour they were going to.

Coffee & Thai Oil Massage

We stopped at Starbucks as we still had time to use and we got a coffee. Curtis’ was free as he had enough ‘stars’ on his account and Kim got the limited edition Peppermint Mocha which was terrific.

We then walked the additional 5 minutes to the massage parlour.

Curtis booked a massage for us both as a birthday present to Kim and to help after her rigorous training for her performance.

We were having a couple massage, so it was in a couple room.

It was a really great massage and we both felt amazing after!

‘Luzia’ Cirque Du Soleil

We stopped at the shop to get some cheese and chutney for dinner and then headed back home.

Curtis started to watch hockey and planned to watch most of it as the cirque performance wasn’t until 19:00…That was where he was wrong!

He had bought these tickets for Kim’s birthday also, but had thought it was at 19:00..luckily, at 16:30, he got a reminder that it was starting at 17:00!

After checking the tickets, it was indeed starting then, so we had to rush out the door!

We got there with more than enough time left, which was lucky.

We were pretty squished in our seats, but the show was pretty good.

There were some great elements, but we felt it wasn’t as good as ‘O’ or Absynthe that we watched in Vegas.

We still had a very fun evening, though!

Cheese & Wine!

For dinner, we had some cheese and wine.

We had some of our cheddar, we got some camembert and some smoked gouda as well as Curtis’ favourite cheess, wensleydale with cranberries!

We had these with crackers, nice bread and some apples/grapes.

This was the perfect end to a great weekend, with some quality TV too!

We even have a day off tomorrow, which we plan to use as a sleep day.

Place 72 – Day 174: Vancouver, BC – Long, Long Day

Curtis’ Day

Curtis arrived at work at a pretty good time, but was not tired, surprisingly, seen as he didn’t get much sleep last night, for some reason.

Curtis started the day with a bit of project work, but most of the day was other things, like admin stuff, meetings and ticket work, which was a nice change.

Curtis finished the day with something a little challenging, but mostly to test and teach himself.

Curtis walked home alone as Kim had to stay at work for a while, as you’ll read below!

Kim’s Day & Evening

Kim knew today was going to be a long one! She got in early to decorate for Halloween.

At about 9 Kim did a new hire tour for two new people, they did the full floor tour, went to the roof and checked out the facilities.

Kim then took some time to set up some of the drinks for the evening, as there is a drinks and nibbles going on just after work.

Kim collected a small fridge and filled that with white wine, filled a larger fridge with the beers and cider. She also made room in the drinks fridge for the platters to go in.

As they had to collect the platters, Kim and a colleague went over to up the road from Kims house to pick everything up, so they got dropped off at the supermarket and Kim went home to pick up her car.

She then went and picked up her colleague who collected almost everything that was ordered.

Everything expect the 15 pumpkins as the supermarket had run out. This surprised Kim as she saw some over the weekend when she went in!

Once they had driven back to the office Kim had some pizza left over from a meeting for lunch.

She then had a little time at her desk and attempted to catch up on things!

Kim then set more drinks up, by clearing space in the drinks fridge for more soft drinks!

She then had a few minutes before the she needed to start setting the kitchen up for the evening drinks so Kim stuck some more decorations up.

Her favourite is a skeleton hand and a skill with a google eye glued in on the top of the vending machine!

Kim and a couple of teammates then set up the room by moving all the tables out and setting up a bar area in front of the fridge.

Kim also used the high chairs to act as a lower bar and set up a fan to keep her cool for the evening. It was a beautiful set up and Kim was very happy with it.

They the set up all the crackers and cookies to go around the room with the platters.

Kim.then spent the evening serving drinks which was great fun!

Kim will always love serving behind a bar, but doesn’t really miss the long nights and sore feet too much!

Towards the end of the evening Kim started packing down the bar and mixing the platters all together to be put in the fridge.

After a while Kims teammates notices that she was cleaning up and told her to go home as it had been a 12 hour day, so instead Kim sat and finished her doughnut from.ealier on in the day and tidied up the front desk as it was a tip from setting up earlier.

She then gave someone a lift home and headed home herself!

The Usual Monday Clean

Curtis got home and instantly took all of the bins out and emptied them. It was very full today!

Curtis then cleaned down the counters in the kitchen, followed by vacuuming the whole apartment, emptying and putting away the clothes from the dryer and emptying the dishwasher.

After all of that, Curtis was hungry, so it was time to have some food.

He had some leftover thai green curry that we had a while ago (which we defrosted) and cooked up some nice rice to go with it.

Curtis ate this and then played quite a bit of call of duty, whilst Kim was out.

Once Kim got back, she showered and we watched a little bit of TV but more than anything, we just wanted to sleep.

Place 72 – Day 107: Vancouver, BC – Back To Sport

Curtis’ Day

After getting to the office, Curtis helped someone with a few settings on their new laptop and copying over some things from their old laptop.Once that was done, Curtis did a couple of tickets and then had a long, 1 hour 1-to-1 which was very productive, informative and a good chat.

Curtis did some more tickets and then spent an hour at someone’s desk trying to get something sorted, which he did but was then a little late for lunch with Kim!

Curtis left and walked to Quiznos for a quick lunch with Kim.We sat and ate our sub, which was actually pretty good, and then had to quickly get back to work.

Once Curtis got back, he started setting up a new macbook for someone as well as doing the odd thing here and there.Curtis left work and walked to the shop to get a some vegetables for dinner and a few other supplies.

When Curtis got back home, he did a few things that needed to be done and then just played some games.Once Kim was on her way home, Curtis started chopping/prepping the vegetables for dinner.

Kim’s Day

Today the fridge wasn’t leaking, which was brilliant! So Kim was able to start her day by continuing on conversations about the new food ordering Portal.

Kim was also inundated with calls for the morning. One was a repeat caller that was a recording of the phone number, after a while Kim just got it blocked.Kim spent some time going through parts of the Wiki project and making notes on things she wants to add and updating parts of pages with a little more information.

Kim had also been asked to update the office information areas for the two other offices, one part of this includes a map of the office layout.

Kim started to try and make one and then checked if there was better software she could be using. After finding out the application she was trying to download is IOS only, she decided to park the idea and head out to meet Curtis for lunch.

She arrived just before him so placed the order and waited!

Once she was back in the office Kim had a chat with the drinks delivery man and spoke about the layout for the new drinks that will be coming in on Friday.

Kim spent a little bit of time setting herself up online for the health insurance ans seeing how all of that worked. This plan faltered when Kim didn’t have her membership number! So she will try again tomorrow.Kim then found that there was a way to make the floorplan of the office on Wiki itself.

Kim did realise that the outline was still easier to make on paint, so she did that and transferred it across and it came out looking great!

As Kim worked the extra 2 hours last Thursday she was able to head out of the office about 30 minutes early to ensure that she got to her into to aerial arts class on time. She obviously ended up arriving 30 minutes ahead of time, but that just meant she wasn’t rushing and had time to get changed! The class was great fun, Kim used the aerial hammock, which is similar to silks, just all in one and not seperated. Then they practised on the hoop, just moves Kim had practiced before, but it was great to get up there and try everything again.

Kim then had another class after and was completely exhausted at the end of it all! In the second class, Kim spent a lot of time upside down! It was great fun!

Thai Green Curry

We made a Thai green curry for dinner and it was actually great! Pretty solid spice, too.We had just vegetables, but we also had a ‘lazy egg’ on the side.

We watched a few videos and an episode of Vikings but Kim got home fairly late so we went to bed not too long after dinner.

Place 73 – Day 3: Seattle,WA – First Starbucks Store & MOPOP

The Actual First Starbucks

We had to pay for the bus this morning, which was a change from yesterday!

We got into the centre and went straight to the actual first ever Starbucks.

We waited in line to get into the store and before long, we got in!

It is a little tight and crowded and you cannot sit inside, but we got our coffee and headed back outside.

We sat and had our coffee on a bench with a great view of the mountains!

Museum Of Pop Culture

We next planned to go to the Space Needle, so we walked towards it.

Once we got there, we got some good photos of the space needle and then realised we didn’t have enough money on us to go in, so we’ll have to do it another day, but we did have other plans anyway!

The Space Needle

Instead, we went to the MOPOP (Museum Of Pop Culture).

This has all things from video games to movies of different genres to TV shows and also music.

There were a few different sections within the museum and the first we came to was the Sci-Fi section, with a brief stop off at the video game area!

Video Games

We played a few indie games and it felt like we were right back in the UK at EGX!

Sci-Fi

The science fiction section had mostly costumes that had been worn for science fiction characters, such as enemies from Doctor Who, the hoverboards from Back To The Future as well as Star Wars and Star Trek items.

Star Trek Weapons

Horror

We accidentally went through to the next area which was the horror section.

It was similar to the Sci-Fi section, but with horror. There were a lot of props as well as things like the costume from Friday 13th.

There was an area which had fake dead people wrapped in sheets and hanging, which was quite creepy!

Fantasy

We moved on upstairs to the fantasy area. This spoke about movies and games based in the fantasy genre, the big two it mentioned being Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings.

There were more items on display from both of these films, as well as other items.

Pearl Jam

There was a whole floor on the band Pearl Jam, from Seattle.

We had not heard of them, but we enjoyed reading about them as well as looking at their memorabilia.

MOPOP | Seattle,WA

Rating:- 7/10

Lunch

We left the museum after this and found somewhere delicious for lunch.

Just before we left for lunch, we found the International Fountain, which is just a big fountain which is synchronised with music.

We went to a place named Michou.

This place was fairly busy when we arrived but it was an Italian style deli with a lot of, large, sandwich options.

Curtis got a roast chicken & chipotle sandwich and Kim got a beef and cheese sandwich. Both sandwiches were delicious, so we ate those up and then got out the way.

Michou Deli | Seattle,WA

Rating:- 9/10

Cinema

We walked down to the cinema to watch the film Fighting With My Family.

Neither of us realised this was based on a true story and then when Curtis realised who it was about, it all made sense!

We really enjoyed the film, actually. We aren’t sure how anyone from any other country would understand it as it has a lot of British humour and slang, but it was good for us!

Fighting With My Family

Rating:- 9/10

Dinner

We got back home via an Uber and had leftover Thai green curry, which was, as last night, delicious!

We watched some TV and did some research for tomorrow and future travels before hitting the hay.

Place 73 – Day 2: Seattle,WA – Wrong Starbucks,Public Market & Wine Tasting

Free Bus Tickets

We went down to the city for a walk around, as well as some things we had planned.

Firstly, we left the house and waited at the bus stop for the bus to arrive. Whilst waiting for the bus, a lovely lady gave us a box of Sugar Babies, an American candy, as she said we have to try them. We can confirm, they are delicious!

The bus was late and, when we got on, we had our $2.75 each ready.

The bus driver was kind enough to give us tickets for free!

Wrong Starbucks

We first went to Starbucks as the first Starbucks was opened in Seattle!

We didn’t think it was much different, other than the logo.

Curtis had a nitro cold brew, which he’s been wanting to try for a while. Kim had a cloud caramel macchiato.

The nitro cold brew looked like a Guinness, but tasted just like coffee that has gone cold. Kim’s caramel macchiato was good, though!

We later realised we had gone to the WRONG Starbucks and the first one was actually down the street, right where all the people were queuing. Guess we’l be heading there tomorrow.

Gum Wall

We walked down a side street and saw a wall completely covered in chewing gum. This wall is world famous and, for some odd and disgusting reason, people stick their chewing gum on the wall and people come along and take photos of it. That being said, here is a photo;

History & Information Of Gum Wall | Seattle,WA

Public Market

We walked to the public market for a wander around. Being Saturday, it was absolutely rammed but great fun!

There are all sorts of things at the market.

There are food stalls, drink stalls, people selling homemade items, a bakery or two, wine tastings, model car shops & BBQ areas!

Fish Stalls

Seafood Restaurants

Wine Tasting

We found a wine tasting place and thought ‘why not?’.

For just $5, we each got to try 6 wines of different types. White, red and Rosé wine.

The man serving us was very knowledgeable, funny and helpful. We sat and played connect 4 with an incredible view whilst we drank some wine.

Northwest Tastings | Seattle,WA

Rating:- 10/10

Home Time

We wandered around a bit more and then found a bus stop to catch a bus home.

Our ticket was valid still so we were still able to ride for free!

We got back to the apartment and Curtis watched the Leafs game whilst Kim did some laundry.

Food Run

After the game, we went to get something for the next few dinners from the supermarket. We met some really nice people at the store, too, which was lovely.

Thai Green Curry

We decided on Thai green curry for dinner, so we made that when we arrived home.

Dinner was delicious! We then watched some TV before heading to bed as we have another fun filled day tomorrow!
