Place 72 – Day 190: Vancouver, BC – Skate Sharpening & Visor Struggles

Skate Sharpening

We had breakfast and then went out once we were ready.

We went just up the road to Max Performance, which is a hockey store.

Curtis wanted to get his skates sharpened (not something he does often!) And so he handed those in and we went for a coffee.

After our coffee, we headed back to the store and the skates had been sharpened. Curtis also got some skate laces and asked about a visor as his visor is very scratched up, so wanted to get a new one.

He eventually bought one and then we went to the shop on the way home.

Visor Struggles

We got back home and we cleared out some of our clothes, planning to get rid of old clothes that don’t fit or we don’t wear anymore.

After this, Curtis attempted to fit the new visor.

Unfortunately, it seemed there wasn’t a screw in the packaging, some how, so Curtis went up to Home Depot to see if they had any, which they didn’t. Eventually, he used another screw which worked, but the visor wasn’t right, so he put the old one back on and packaged up the new one again to take back.

Curtis also noticed his helmet seems to be a little broken, possibly (or maybe not sitting right), either way, he plans to buy a new one this week, as well as see if he can get another visor.

Curtis put his new skate laces on whilst Kim made a veggie Thai green curry and then we ate that.

Pink Panther 2

We watched Pink Panther 2 as Kim thinks it is better than the first. Curtis wasn’t too keen, but we watched it all anyway.

We watched a few smaller things and did things like getting the lunches sorted and emptying the dishwasher and then we headed to bed.

Place 72 – Day 144: Vancouver, BC – Snow Prepared!

Snow Prepared

We got up and out fairly quickly this morning, to try and get ourselves prepared with snow clothes!

We plan to go skiing/snowboarding, so we needed to make sure we had the right clothing.

We started about a 20 minute walk from our house at a store called Sport Junkies.

This place is mostly a used sporting goods store, but it has been recommended to us by a few people so we checked it out.

Curtis successfully found some trousers for the snow, and pretty fast, but Kim was unable to find anything.

We left here and went to Winners to see if Kim could find anything for herself, which she did! She got some white Superdry snow trousers.

After this success, it certainly seemed that we deserved a reward, so we sat in Starbucks with a coffee for a bit.

After this, we did a larger shop at the supermarket as we needed a few general items that we don’t purchase too often.

We got these and then headed back home.

Homemade Thai Green Curry

Once we got back, it was time to make dinner!

Kim made a Thai green curry, which was terrific!

We ate this, watched some TV, did some laundry and cleaned the bathroom…because fun Sunday things!

Place 72 – Day 136: Vancouver, BC – All Day Typing & Post Work Massage

Curtis’ Day

As made apparent from the title, Curtis’ day was a lot of writing (technically typing).

He started the day with some admin and then doing a couple of tickets, but he did have it planned to get guides written for his project. There are around 8 guides to get written, so Curtis has to get those all done, and ASAP!

Curtis just did those all day and got half done, which is better than none.

Curtis walked home and there was no rain, which is much better, and then he watched the last 2 periods of the leafs game.

He had leftover Thai curry which he cooked up some chicken for and ate.

Kim went out to exercise and Curtis played some games.

Kim’s Day

This morning Kim had to grab a cake for a team so she headed to the shop up near home and planned to take a taxi in. She called for a taci before going in to.the store, but as the answered the line cut out. So kim grabbed the cake and waited outside while she called again, it took 5 minutes to get through and there was no estimated arrival time.

While Kim was at the bus stop waiting for the taxi a police escort came down the road and blocked it off, then came a group of cyclists followed by more police and an ambulance or 2. The best part was that the police van was playing ACDC, a great way to start a morning!

When the taxi eventually arrived Kim made her way into work and was about 30 minutes later than she had anticipated! Kim then hid the cake at her desk before running back out to post a letter and pick up some dairy free cakes.

While she was out in the morning Kim was asked to do some printing, so she got all of that sorted.

During the morning Kim felt very strange, she had a pounding headache, felt neasous and had funny vision. So Kim took 5 and sat in a meeting room to see if it would pass, and then went and grabbed some fresh air on the roof. This helped a fair amount.

It was then cake time! So Kim arranged the main cake in the kitchen, but hid the dairy free ones! There was a nice little talk and then everyone grabbed some cake.

As she still wasnt feeling 100% Kim then changed her settings on her computer to cause less of a strain on her eyes, this was Curtis’s great idea and he walked her through how to do it over the phone! He is so wonderful and really does take good care of Kim.

This helped immensely and throughout the course of the day all the issues went away! During the call, the gentleman who put on the presentation snuck Kim some cake, which was very appreciated.

Kim then took some time to go through the emails received today and had a little catch up with her team mate who had been in another office for the past week.

It was then lunch time, and despite Kim saying that she would sort her lunch in the morning and to no surprise to Curtis, Kim had not made her lunch. As she had felt so groggy in the morning Kim decided to get a McDonald’s, and she picked a great day to as well, she got a free cheeseburger! So she grabbed her lunch and then went back to eat. She ended up in and out of her seat for the first half of her lunch sorting things out for people!

Kim then spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on the invoices. Its going to be like that for a fair few days as she hadn’t saved an invoice until yesterday since the 4th September. Kim is very glad to announce that she is now up to the 9th September!

In the middle of the invoices Kim had a bit more of a proper meeting with her colleague, mainly a catch up from the last week and plans on the Christmas parties. Kim ended up giving a great idea for the UK office that will possibly be used, so that was great!

After work, Kim used her benefits to get a quick massage. She had booked herself in for a 30 minute neck and back massage to sort out her painful shoulder, but as a result of her morning, Kim changed it to a head, neck and back massage and it was alright!

Kim class today was good! The conditioning nearly killed her and she was utterly rubbish at it all. She was able to nail some of the moves which was great.

Bake Off, Again!

Kim got back from exercise and we watched the latest bake off episode before sleeping.

Place 81 – Day 9: Orlando,FL – Go Karting

Breakfast

We got up just as Tom was arriving back from his cycle, so we all needed some food.

We had a lack of breakfast items in the house, so we decided we would go out for breakfast on the way to go karting.

We stopped at IHOP and had some breakfast there.

Go Karting

It took a while to get to the go karting place, but we weren’t disappointed when we got there.

Watching The Briefing

This was outdoor karting and the track looked sizable and fun.

We paid for 30 minutes in 3 x 10 minute stints.

The first time out we were with a few random people but the other two was just us.

For the first 2, Tom was first followed by Curtis, but Abbie made improvements and got 2nd just ahead of Curtis on the 3rd race.

We left here incredibly sweaty but we had a lot of fun.

Even More Card Games

We played all the card games this evening, for a good few hours, before everyone got too tired and went to bed.
