Place 70 – Day 34: Victoria, BC – Hot Stone Massage & Mattick’s Farm

Hot Stone Massage

We woke up after sleeping very early last night and felt very well rested.

We had some cereal for breakfast and Kim then went out for a hot stone massage! She really enjoyed it, actually. She felt like jelly!

Mattick’s Farm

Kim got back and we went out to Mattick’s Farm.

This was only about 20 minutes away and once we got there, it was coffee time!

They had a restaurant and tea room, so we went to the tea room and got ourselves coffee and snacks. Curtis got a cinnamon bun and Kim had a tuna and mayonnaise sandwich.

We left here and went to play mini golf! They had a mini golf place at the farm, so we took Linda to play her first round ever!

The game was pretty close, actually, with Curtis coming out with the win in the end.

We really enjoyed that, actually, and it wasn’t really in the sun either, which was good for us.

We drove back toward Victoria and on the way, we stopped at a supermarket which is known for really cheap fresh fruit and vegetables, so we got in there and got some produce there.

Delicious Dinner

We got back home and relaxed for an hour or so and then we went to a restaurant that Linda has been visiting for a long while.

Curtis and Linda shared a ceasar salad and Kim had a French onion soup, which was her first time trying! She really enjoyed it actually, though it was a lot for her!

Curtis had a steak which came with potatoes and veg and Kim had chicken marsala with mushrooms and veg, too.

We really enjoyed our dinner and were perfectly full.

We headed back home and had some strawberries which Linda bought at the veg store today.

Drinks With Another Friend

We went for drinks with a friend of Kim’s from work just down at the brown’s social house in Victoria.

Curtis hadn’t met her before and Kim hadn’t met her in person but we had a good chat and a drink before heading back home to Linda’s.

We’re heading out again tomorrow, so that should be fun!

Place 72 – Day 967: Vancouver, BC – Mini Golf in Abbotsford

We woke up and had showers and then Curtis went to get croissants and coffee for breakfast.

We ate our breakfast and then we chatted with Kim’s sister for an hour and a bit. It was really nice to chat with her and catch up!

We then left to drive out to Abbotsford to go and play mini golf. We had been told that there was a really good place out there, so why not explore a little!

There were a few accidents on the way, so it took us about 1 hour 40 minutes to get out there, but we did get to drive through some nice rural areas.

We got there and it was GROSS inside! Very few masks and a lot of people. We decided to do the outdoor mini golf, as we didn’t have to worry about other people.

We did the 18 hole mini golf, but it took quite a while as we had to wait for people in front of us to finished each hole before starting and they took a while!

We finished that up, with Kim narrowly winning, and then we got hungry and thirsty, so we went across to McDonald’s to get some food. It was a pretty gross McDonald’s store, so we ate some of our food in the car and then drove back towards home. The way back was much faster, though we did have some congestion in a few spots, but that was to be expected.

We drove to the supermarket on the way back as that made the most sense and we did our weekly shop. We bought a lot of soup, as Curtis has his surgery this week and cannot have anything other than soup and soft food, Kim so managed to find some really nice soft foods and liquids for him.

We got back home and Curtis had the remaining leftover curry with some rice and Kim had some homemade egg fried rice with vegetables which was really good!

We watched a bit of TV and then Kim looked up some exciting things online!

Curtis has to be up earlier for a meeting tomorrow, so we shall sleep at a good time tonight!

Place 72 – Day 932: Vancouver, BC – French Patisserie

We woke up and had a nice breakfast at home and then got ourselves ready for the day.

The weather wasn’t good today, but we wanted to go out to a cafe or patisserie, so we found one and drove out there.

It turns out, we actually went to the wrong one! That being said, we did get to have a delicious chocolate coffee cake there!

Chocolate & Coffee…A delicious combo!

We did have a coffee each with this, too, but unfortunately they were no where near as nice as they looked. We plan to come back out and go to the other patisserie we were meant to go to, which was only a block over!

We were parked at a mall, so it made sense to go there to do our weekly shop but also a few other things. We picked up a frame and some other items from Homesense and then went to the supermarket.

We drove back home after a pretty successful day and then when we got home we did some relaxing then Kim made a veggie lasagna for dinner!

We watched a bit of TV and then Kim had a bath and watched a film.

We watched some more TV after Kim’s bath and then headed to bed. Another busy week is coming!

Place 72 – Day 931: Vancouver, BC – Wreck Beach

Breakfast & Wreck Beach

We had a good sleep and then woke up and had some breakfast. Kim went out to get croissants and we ate those and slowly got ourselves ready.

We went out to Wreck Beach, which is right by the university campus. This beach, it turns out, is actually clothing optional, though most people that go don’t go for that.

We drove out there and found ourselves some parking and then walked down the many steps through the trees to get to the beach.

The beach was nice and peaceful, with most people just lounging around. There are a lot of logs around, so we sat on one of those after having a walk around and just took in the air and the scenery. The weather wasn’t amazing, but not cold, so it gres to just sit and relax at the beach.

We walked a little more and then headed back up the many steps to get to the car. As we walked back to the car, another car drove very slowly beside us, trying to wait for us to leave our parking spot so they could take it. This was much to the dismay of other drivers who got very annoyed, so we intentionally just walked away and let the guy drive off so he didn’t hold up traffic.

A Surprise!

On the way home, Kim surprised Curtis by driving to the British shop, where we were able to buy a lot of British snacks, similar to what she did for his birthday!

We bought a lot of stuff there and then drove home.

Homemade Pizza

After relaxing at home a little, we went to the supermarket to buy everything we needed for a homemade pizza. We bought the dough this time, though, but it was fresh dough.

We made the pizza and it came out great, though quite soggy in the middle, so that’s something to work on, but it was very tasty!

After eating, we watched a film and had some of our snacks. After that, we watched some more TV but Kim also ordered herself a blanket she wanted to get.

Place 72 – Day 925: Vancouver, BC – Miserable Weather

We woke up and Curtis went out to get some croissants and coffee for breakfast.

We ate those, watched the F1 race and then got ourselves showered.

We chatted with Kim’s family for a bit and then Kim did some work for a few hours whilst Curtis played games. The weather was gross, so we couldn’t really go out anywhere and Kim needed to get a bit of work done.

After Kim was done, we went out to the supermarket to do our weekly shop.

We did that and then came home and had potatoes, peas, mushrooms, egg and cheese for dinner, something Kim has made a few times from her cookbook. Very delicious, quick and easy!

We watched a bit of TV and then it was time for Kim to have her nice Sunday night relaxing bath.

After Kim’s bath, we watched a bit more TV and then headed to bed.

Place 72 – Day 918: Vancouver, BC – Finally Exploring A Little

Kim went out to get croissants for breakfast and we ate those and then very slowly got ourselves ready for the day.

Here in BC, we are able to travel within our health region, which is quite large, and they no longer suggest not doing so, so we went a little further today!

We drove out towards where we stayed when we first got here, near Burnaby, and walked around a park we’d been to a couple of times.

We walked through the forest areas and almost all of the park. We were met by many squirrels and birds and the weather got way hotter then it was meant to be, which was lovely!

We walked around for a while and then started to need a drink and got a bit too warm, so we headed back towards home.

We needed to go to the supermarket, so we stopped in there on the way back.

After we got home, we did some laundry and vaccuming and then Kim made the teriyaki chicken burgers that she’s made a few times! She made a decent amount of them so we can have them whenever we want without having to make them again!

Kim cooked up the burgers and we had that with sweet potato fries and corn on the cob. A delicious dinner.

We ate and relaxed and then Kim went for a nice relaxing bath.

We watched a little TV after that and then went to bed, ready for work tomorrow.

Place 72 – Day 904: Vancouver, BC – Kits Beach Long Walk

We woke up and had a nice homemade breakfast sandwich for breakfast. After we ate that, we got ourselves ready and went out for a walk.

We got a bit tired of doing the same walk, so we planned to walk for about an hour to get to Kitsilano and visit the beach there.

We got a coffee once we got to Kitsilano and it was a really good one!

We then walked to what we thought was Kitsilano beach, but we accidentally went about 30 minutes too far and walked to Jericho beach instead! Luckily, this is still a nice place to walk to, but we walked along that beach and up to Kitsilano beach, where we walked around a bit.

We walked down to the dog beach and watched all the dogs run around and then Kim dipped her feet in the water a little before we headed back towards home as we were hungry!

After about an hour of walking, we managed to get back home, legs hurting but McDonald’s in hand which was a bonus! A beautiful day out and a nice, very long, walk.

We ate our dinner and relax for a bit, then headed out to the supermarket followed by Kim having her weekly relaxing bath.

We watched a bit more TV and headed to bed.

Place 72 – Day 875: Vancouver, BC – Busy Beaches

We had a nice lay in and slept very well laat night.

We had some breakfast and got ourselves ready, then had a chat with Kim’s family.

After this, we went out for a walk.

We stopped to get a fancy coffee Kim had seen online, which was honey comb and cream coffee. It was sweet but pretty nice! Kim also got a cheese tart to go with it, which was delightful.

We got that and walked for a couple of hours, down to the beaches. The beaches and around the beaches was VERY busy (you can be in a group of up to 10 outside here, at the moment, for some reason) so it was a little stressful walking around, but the weather was beautiful and hot!

We got pretty hungry and thirsty, so we got a lemonade each from a place near the beach and then we headed back home.

Once we got home, we ordered some McDonald’s because we really fancied it and we stuffed our faces with that.

We then, after rolling off the sofa, very full, went to the supermarket to do an actual shop as we’re basically out of everything now!

We got that shop done and on the way back we picked up a storage rack to put in our walk in closet for our clothes.

We got back home and were going to unpack, but it was 10pm so we just wanted to chill and will tackle that tomorrow.

Place 72 – Day 585: Vancouver, BC – F1 is Back & Blown Away

We woke up a little late and Kim went out to get breakfast from our favourite bakery/cafe.

Once we ate that, we watched the highlights of the first F1 race of the season, which we are glad is underway!

The weather improved throughout the day so we went out for a walk. We did see there was a wind warning, and they were right! We almost got blown over multiple times, and it was actually difficult to walk, so we headed back home with our coffee and played some games.

We got laundry and housework done and then made ourselves some dinner.

We had leftover chilli along with leftover corn on the cob, both of which were excellent.

We went to the supermarket pretty late and that was a good thing as it was nice and quick!

We got back home and Kim had a nice relaxing bath. We then relaxed and watched some TV.

Place 72 – Day 570: Vancouver, BC – It’s Spring!

We had a really great sleep last night and didn’t even sleep in that long this morning.

We had a lazy morning, had some pancakes for breakfast and got ready slowly.

We went out in the beautiful spring weather for a walk, but it seemed that everyone else had the same idea!

The restrictions has changed a bit here in Vancouver, people can now meet up to 10 people (the same 10 people each time) outside (masked and distanced), so there were quite a few groups out doing that.

We walked for a while and actually didn’t get a coffee, instead we got a soft drink from a shop as it was a fairly warm day out and we wanted something cold and refreshing.

We walked back home and waited for the elevator which took a while.

We got back up and Curtis watched hockey. Kim went out to get a snack from Tacfino as she was a little hungry and she watched the rest of the original Mulan film.

After hockey, Kim had a little nap and then we went to the supermarket to do a small shop.

We made some chicken wraps for dinner when we got home and had a relaxing rest of the evening.
