Place 72 – Day 978: Vancouver, BC – In Office Organisation

Curtis’ Day

Curtis went to this office when he was ready this morning. He woke up with pretty bad pain again this morning from his mouth, so he booked an appointment to see the dentist to get everything checked out.

He got to the office and emptied out the IT storage room. He then built a few shelves and put them in there, so there is more storage areas!

The next step was to start sorting everything into boxes. Curtis had to leave part way through this and head to the dentist.

Curtis actually had a bit of dry socket on one side so the dentist cleaned it up and put some fluid in there that numbed it and it had some meds in it too, which should help. It was good that Curtis went in today as it was just the start of the issue, so all should be good now!

Curtis got back home and did some work and then had some lunch with Kim.

Curtis had a quick team meeting that was meant to last much longer, but didn’t.

He finished the day completing an offboard which seemed to take a while!

Kim’s Day

To start her day Kim had a donut chat with someone she hadn’t met before! It was so great to say hello and get to know him. She then had a meeting to see where she can provide support.

Kim then joined a meeting to go over any questions a candidate may have about their offer. It was an enjoyable call and then right at the end the person let Kim and her colleague off the hook and confirmed that they would be signing and joining the company. It was such wonderful news and everyone was over the moon!

Kim then joined the weekly departments meeting, but she also built her new chair while some discussions were going on. After that call Kim joined the weekly recruitment meeting.

In the early afternoon Kim joined an interview and then the post interview chat to discuss next steps and then to finish the day Kim had a couple of calls with different teammates. It was a great way to end the day.

Evening

Kim went to pole dancing in the evening and once Kim got back home, we both had some food and then hung out for the rest of the night! We watched the Bo Burnham special, Inside, on Netflix which was good!

Curtis has tomorrow and Monday off, so nice relaxation time. Kim will be working a bit tomorrow but not Monday!

Place 72 – Day 866: Vancouver, BC – Starting The Packing Process

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had some tickets to get done in the morning and then he jumped into a team meeting which went really well.

He then spent some time sorting out some licenses that people shouldn’t have had, which actually took much longer than expected.

After that, he had another meeting in which we discussed how some software works and what needs to be done to get something working as it should. Curtis learned some new things which was great, and his colleague was also able to learn things.

The afternoon was a lot of tickets and admin. He had a discussion about a potential new tools and helped people out with some tickets.

Kim’s Day

Kim spent a lot of her day in meetings and interviews. She had one interview in the morning followed by a recruitment meeting. Then for the rest of the morning she was able to complete a few admin tasks and plan some projects.

In the afternoon Kim joined another recruitment meeting and then had a 5 Min surprise meeting with a colleague to catch them up to date on the meeting. The wellness break for the week was at lunchtime and a few people say down and took some time to hang out and do colouring in online. It was so enjoyable and Kim cannot wait to do it again!

Kim then joined a meeting about an IT project that will be starting soon. She will be helping out with the logistics of it and it will be really interesting! From there Kim went in to host another interview and then had a quick review of the meeting with her colleague.

There was some paperwork that needed to be completed so Kim jumped on a call with a colleague to work through it. Then Kim had a call with another teammate to just have a check in and a chat.

Starting The Packing Process

We got done with work and then Kim went to take back some items she didn’t want from Homesense and then we went down to our storage locker and took out some things from there and took them over to the new apartment.

When we got there, we took the items in but Kim also got the sofa finished and we sat on that for a bit, just relaxing. It was super comfortable and a great purchase!

There were a lot of boxes from the sofa, so we took those down to the bin and then we drove back home and brought up some more items from the storage locker, ready to pack clothes and a few other things. We’re actually getting some things ready for the move, now!

We made sausages, peas and mash for dinner and watched some TV whilst relaxing for the remainder of the evening.

We’re glad we got some stuff done for the move, though most of it will get done at the weekend.

Place 72 – Day 544: Vancouver, BC – Hand Delivery & New Ski Pants!

The snow had all but gone this morning, which was fast but we were pretty okay with that.

We got up and had some crepes for breakfast.

Once we finished breakfast, Curtis got ready and planned to deliver the equipment for the new hire that he collected from the office yesterday.

Unfortunately, the lady wasn’t available, so we got ready to go for a walk instead.

Kim got her work permit submitted this morning, which is an excellent step forward !

We walked to get a coffee anf then had a short walk around the seawall. The wind was very cold on our ears, for some reason we didn’t expect that!

We got back home and had to wait a while for the elevators. Curtis then walked to the person’s apartment building to drop off the equipment. Unfortunately, they were not home, so he took it home and they said they would pickup instead.

Curtis watched hockey while he waited for them to confirm they were arriving and then once they did, Kim was already going out so she met them downstairs to hand deliver them the equipment.

Once she did that, Kim then went to a thrift store and found a great pair of ski pants as she used hers the other day and they seemed a little too tight.

She got these for just $15 which seemed cheap, but they’re a really good brand!

She checked a few other stores for gloves but had no luck, so she came back home.

Kim then took some stuff down to the storage and brought up some stuff from there, too.

Once she got back, she got some housework done and then made dinner.

Curtis finished watching hockey and then also got some further housework done.

We ate our delicious veggie bolognese and watched some TV for the rest of the night.

Place 72 – Day 290: Vancouver, BC – Storage Room Racing

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had some admin to do at the start of the day and then got a couple of tickets to get done.

Curtis had a team meeting to discuss some projects and then another meeting to discuss returning to work plans.

After lunch, Curtis had another team meeting for a while and then did a few more tickets, followed by his 1 year check up for work!

We did a couple of trips down to the storage locker, both from our apartment and from the car.

When we were there, we did a couple of races up and down the storage area, completely spontaneous and fun! We won one race each, too.

Kim’s Day

Today Kim spent a lot of her day working on the mailing project! She had to call them and she set up two pickups for people.

Mid morning Kim had a time set aside for games, she wasn’t really feeling it but didn’t want to cancel in case people needed the escape so she went ahead. After a few minutes of waiting there was only one other person on the call so they decided to try again next week.

Later in the morning Kim placed an order for a new dishwasher and a replacement for the kitchen tap. The only option for delivery is for 7am on a Saturday, so Kim and her colleague will head in that morning to be on hand if needed.

In the afternoon Kim also spent some time looking into alternative ways to ship within the UK, but has put that aside to take another look tomorrow.

Evening

We were hungry right after work, so we put on some rice and played some games whilst waiting for it to cook.

Kim made egg fried rice for dinner and it was very, very good!

We ate that and then watched the film Blockers.

Place 72 – Day 276: Vancouver, BC – A Bin, More Storage & A Lamp

Curtis’ Day

Curtis is starting early this week, 1 hour early, so that he can catch up with the time he missed Friday.

It was a slow start, but then Curtis got some tickets and some other things to do throughout the day.

He was able to start and finish one project work, which was a success!

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day with a donut catch up with a new starter from one of the UK offices. It was great to meet them and have a chat. After the call Kim caught up on some emails and set up a courier to pick something up and deliver it to the office. She then packed up and headed into the office, once her computer had finished an update.

Once she got into the office Kim had a meeting with HR and Marketing to divide up the current stock that we have and make a plan for swag going forward. It was a great meeting and gave Kim a lot of direction for the office clean up. She then went through the stock and starting figuring out where it will all be stored.

Kim then spent some time working on some smaller projects, she tried t order a gift card for someone in the UK again and it still didn’t work. She also started setting up some of the next round of cribbage games.

In the beginning of her afternoon Kim was working with IT finding laptops for people and trying to help set them up, one didn’t want to play ball and Kim couldn’t find the other style of laptop that they needed.

She then sent out more invite for cribbage and then finally started to tackle the tool box. It was full of stuff that Kim didn’t think they needed and there were so many loose screws. So Kim collected up losses screws and organised what was in the box.

A Bin, More Storage & A Lamp

Kim finished work and when she came home she changed her address for her driving license and a few other things.

She then went out to pickup and pay for a new bin, so we have a taller and bigger one.

Kim made some form of Asian style noodles with chicken for dinner which was very tasty!

We watched a bit of TV and then Kim went out again to pickup some more clothing storage for the apartment as well as a lamp!

Once she got back, we finally relaxed for the evening.
