Place 72 – Day 960: Vancouver, BC – It’s Not Coming Home

We woke up at the same time as yesterday and got coffee and croissants for breakfast again.

We chatted with Kim’s parents for about an hour and then the football started! Curtis watched it, not that he really cared, but it could’ve been a big moment. Unfortunately for England, they didn’t win, but Curtis still didn’t really care at all.

Whilst Curtis watched football, Kim went out to the beach with a friend and also got some ice cream, too! Once she was done there and the football was done, Curtis walked to meet Kim at Sportchek to get some shoes for wearing to the gym as well as some gym clothes.

We got back home and then walked over the street to the (not good) supermarket to get a few things for the week and then we decided we fancied burgers tonight, so we ordered McDonald’s for dinner!

We watched some TV and a film in the evening and relaxed.

Place 72 – Day 193: Vancouver, BC – Kim’s Turn For The Dentist

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a few tickets he wanted to take care of today, and he did just that!

Curtis got some settings changed on a few computers and got a big ticket that had taken him over 9 hours to complete but he finally got it done!

That took a lot of the day, but Curtis got a few other tickets at least started and also got some other things sorted, including helping a colleague with a project of theirs.

Curtis did a bit of training and then walked home.

On the way home, Curtis returned one of his visors. He got one from someone at work to try but unfortunately it was the same as the one he has already tried!

Curtis changed his mind again and thought it was safer to use his old visor on his new helmet for now and he contacted a company as was able to ask for exactly what he wanted and they were able to point him in the right direction, so he has ordered that and now will need to take back the other visor!

Kim’s Day

Kim spent a lot of her day answering calls and emails and tackling small admin tasks. During the morning Kim focused on chasing a few missing invoices. In the afternoon she worked on getting a few things sorted for St Patrick’s day and ordered pizza for the two offices for the social talks coming up on Friday.

Kim the left work early to head to the dentist which went well and the dentist said she had healthy teeth!

Evening

Not much happened in the evening. Curtis sorted his visor and Kim went to energy exchange and then made a veggie spaghetti bolognese for tomorrow’s dinner as we finished the risotto tonight.

We watched a bit of TV when Kim returned and that was that for the day!

Place 72 – Day 137: Vancouver, BC – Bad Day For Shopping

Shopping

We chose that today would be the day we do some shopping…

We had some scrambled eggs for breakfast and then we got ready and drove up to Metropolis.

When we arrived, we shortly realised how crazy busy it was, as of course, it’s the Boxing Day sales on this weekend.

There was a couple of shops we planned to go in and the first was horribly busy, smelly and cramped, so we weren’t there too long.

We then went to the likes of Sportchek, Winners & H&M, mostly looking for snow trousers of some sort, and jackets.

We came out empty handed and decided to get out of the shopping mall and go to a Starbucks down the road for a coffee. It was a lot quieter there.

We went to Walmart, which was busy, and got a few things we needed for the week.

Leftover Indian Food

We got home and had our leftover Indian food, as well as some popodoms and Naan bread.

We watched some TV throughout the evening, did some online shopping and looked at houses in the place we want to live in.

Place 72 – Day 202: Vancouver, BC – Christmas Parade & Festival of Lights

Christmas Parade

We were up at a good time this morning and then we had a quick breakfast before walking down to meet Linda at her hotel.

We didn’t have a huge amount planned for the day as we did a lot of walking yesterday so didn’t want to do too much today.

Kim had heard about a Christmas parade in the city, so we headed towards that.We had a bit of time, so we went and sat down for a coffee!

We finished our coffee and headed up to watch the parade. The parade wasn’t too great, so we left a little early. It was mostly just advertisements for companies, rather than any interesting Christmas floats.

New Yellow Coat!

We went to Sportchek after this as Kim had seen a nice bright yellow coat she liked. She decided to actually buy it today and she loves it!

Christmas Movie

We had some time before our next thing to do, so we brought Linda back to our place and sat watching Let It Snow which is our first Christmas film of the year!

Festival of Lights

We drove up to the Vandusen Botanical Garden to attend the festival of lights. We drive past here often but were not sure what to expect.

The lights were amazing! All the trees were dressed up with lights and there was a light show that went on every 20 minutes. It was actually great!

Dinner time!

Once we finished here, we went off to dinner. We went to Milestones which is a chain here in Canada.

We had some really great food!

Kim had sweet chilli chicken with rice which was very spicy but very delicious. Curtis had ginger glazed salmon with fried rice which was really tasty and also spicy! Linda had chicken pesto penne.

We were full, but we still had dessert!Curtis had a white chocolate cheesecake and Kim had a coconut/chocolate cake.

We waddled back to the car and then we drove Linda back to the hotel.

Linda goes home tomorrow, but it was great to see her and we will see her again soon!

Arrested!

We went up to the shop to get a few things and when leaving, we saw someone being arrested. He was making a lot of noise!

We got back home and did a few admin tasks we needed to get done before going back to work tomorrow.

It’s been a really fun weekend!

Place 72 – Day 126: Vancouver, BC – Productive Purchasing

Shoe Shopping

We had a relaxed morning and then went out around 14:00.

We hopped in the car and drove to Richmond.

After 25 minutes of driving, we arrived at the strip mall and went right to Designer Shoe Warehouse and started looking for shoes.

Curtis had already ripped through his shoes as they were actually quite flimsy, so it was time to find something a bit sturdier (and probably more expensive).

Curtis managed to find some Under Armour shoes which were actually a very good price, too.

Kim was unable to find any shoes and we were also looking for some walking/hiking shoes for the winter, bu DSW didn’t have any, so we moved on to Sketchers, which were also not great.

We wanted a break so went to Starbucks for a coffee, but it wasn’t great and they seemed to get some of our order wrong too!

Richmond Mall

We left Starbucks and got back into the car and drove to Richmond Mall.

Kim wanted to look in a few clothes shops and also still look for some shoes.

We eventually went to SportChek and it was successful! Kim got a skirt there, Curtis got an Under Armour compression shirt to wear whilst playing hockey and Kim even managed to get some Columbia walking shoes.

We left after being here and we got home around 18:30, so were out for a good while!

Sweet Chilli Wedges

We got some potatoes when we got home, chopped them up and boiled them to make wedges. Whilst this was happening, we cooked up some bacon and grated some cheese to put in with the wedges and some sweet chilli sauce.

We ate that and watched TV for the evening.
