Place 49 – Day 304: Auckland- Onehunga Shopping & Cornwall Park

We woke up way later than planned or expected, at 11:30!

We had a quick bite of breakfast, showered and left the house.

We met Josh and Danielle in Onehunga, at the mall.

The mall was very busy! We walked around the mall with Danielle and Josh, stopping in a lot of shops. The mall is an outlet mall, so lots of great deals! Kim got some sunglasses and Curtis got some swimming shorts.

We left here and Curtis wasn’t feeling great, so we grabbed a bottle of orange juice to drink. We then drove over to Cornwall Park and walked to see the sheep and lambs!

The lambs!

We left Cornwall park and headed to Glenfield mall. The day today had odd weather. we were warm and then absolutely freezing, especially once the wind came in.

When we got to Glenfield, we went to get just a couple of items from the shop (pasta, wine & strawberries…A normal shop!) And then went to get a coffee from Little Things, which as excellent as always.

We got home and did a bit of laundry, then watched the Great British Bake Off.

After that, Kim made hoisin duck and mushroom pasta and we watched some YouTube videos whilst we ate.

After that, we watched the apprentice.

Once we were done with that, we played some Call of Duty with Kim’s friend Ryan, then it was bedtime.

Place 49 – Day 299: Auckland – Baked Potatoes!

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to work incredibly early and spent half the morning doing admin.

14 laptops arrived which Curtis then had to setup and configure, as well as install some more hardware inside. This took up all of the morning!

Curtis finished lunch and then had a remote session to complete. He luckily managed to complete that as he was having trouble connecting last week.

Most of the afternoon we then taken up by a possible virus on a server which Curtis then had to look into and resolve.

Both of us;

Once we were both home, we just had to go for a walk as the weather was incredible! We walked up to the shop to buy some baked beans for dinner.

For such a long time, Kim has wanted a baked potato for dinner, and we finally found a big enough potato to do so! Curtis got a ‘kumara’ (Sweet potato) for his.

We got back from our walk and had a baked potato with cheese and beans.

We then watched the first episode of the new Apprentice series and a few YouTube videos before going to sleep.

Place 49 – Day 295: Auckland – Keys, Noel Leeming Sale Show & Big Bug Attack!

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis left the house at the normal time and shortly afterwards he realised that he left his car and house keys inside on the floor! The presented an issue as no-one else at home was awake. Curtis tried phoning and texting Kim as well as shouting for her and knocking on the door multiple times. Non of these methods worked, so Curtis told his boss he would be working from home, eventually!

Curtis was eventually let into the house by Kim after 40 minutes and she found it rather funny. On the plus side, Curtis got some great photos of the sky whilst outside.

Curtis then worked from home for the rest of the day and at lunch, started watching the first Leafs game of the season!

Curtis’ day was busy but only with a few admin-type tasks which seemed to take a long time.

Both of us;

When Kim got home, she had a shower and then we went down to the ASB Showgrounds which is a big exhibition centre. This was today filled with essentially a big technology sale, ran by the company Noel Leeming.

Kim’s workplace were attending and they recommended that Kim go and take a look, so that’s what we did.

We got free coffee when we arrived from the lovely people at Nespresso and then went into the event.

We saw Kim’s work colleagues and spoke with them for a while and then left to have a look around the event.

The event was huge with a lot of people but things were selling like hotcakes…trolleys full of items left right and centre!

We finally decided to leave and get some food as we were starting (it was 19:30!). We went to KFC as it was easy and close. The KFC wasn’t great and we had to get another wrap as Curtis’ completely fell apart…Luckily though, we got to keep both so we ate the filling of the first too.

We got home and watched the latest bake off episode before bed.

Place 49 – Day 294: Auckland – The Weather is Improving!

Curtis’ Day;

When Curtis got to work, be found out some staff related news which was interesting!

Curtis planned to do his monthly appraisal, which he has to score himself on first before his manager does. Unfortunately, this was not setup right so he couldn’t do it.

Curtis had just a few cases to do today, and managed to get most of them done, having a bit of a more relaxed afternoon.

Curtis left for work around 16:20 and the traffic was really bad again, but the weather has much improved, so it was warm and beautiful!

Both of us;

We both got home and Kim forced herself to go to the gym. It was a bit too hot for the gym, so Kim didn’t stay there long.

When Kim got home, we had meatballs in a spicy sauce with a delicious side salad.

After this, we watched a couple of videos and then Curtis needed a shave so he did that then it was bedtime. We are both absolutely exhausted.

Place 49 – Day 291: Auckland – Into The Playoffs

We woke up a few times this morning but stayed in bed until 09:35.

We had cereal for breakfast and watched some videos.

We had a shower each and then did the housework. We vacuumed and hung out the laundry before we left to get the shopping done.

We didn’t get too much whilst shopping and so we had time to go to our usual coffee shop and get an iced mocha!

We went back home and Kim made lunches as well as cleaned the oven.

We then did some research for accommodation and got some booked.

We then took Nicola and Tabitha to watch Curtis’ hockey game. This game was a big one, where if Curtis’ team won, they would get 3rd in the league.

The game was a physical one, where Curtis managed to get 3 penalties, one of which was a questionable hit.

On the plus side, Curtis’ team won 1-0 and therefore secured 3rd place!

Next up is the play-off quarterfinals, where they play the last place team in the league. That’s in 2 weeks.

We got home and Curtis showered then we had a chicken burger each for dinner.

We watched two episodes of the big bang theory and then did some more research.

Place 49 – Day 288: Auckland – Samosas

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to work and the phone rang shortly after, as he was setting up his laptop! This meant Curtis had to fumble around trying to get it setup before answering the phone.

The accountants, who only go to the office one day a week, arrived and they had Samosas for Curtis and his team! Curtis did pay for these as they were being sold for fundraising. Curtis therefore went home with 10 samosas.

Both of us;

Once we both were home, we went to the gym. We spent a good 45 minutes to an hour at the gym, using different machines the whole time. It was a good workout! We normally start on the crosstrainer but they were all full so we went on the treadmill instead which we didn’t really like.

On the way home we stopped at the supermarket to get a few things.

Once we got home, we made butter chicken and rice for dinner with naan bread and our butter chicken samosas.

We watched some videos and the latest great British bake off episode.

Place 49 – Day 286: Auckland – Hail

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis had a good sleep last night, which was a relief.

Curtis got to work at the usual time and began working on his cases and answering emails.

He had a big chunk of work to get done which he worked on throughout the day.

During lunch, Curtis had to go down to a client as they had an external contractor arrive which Curtis had to help with. Originally, Curtis drove down to the client which was in the city. Unfortunately, there was no parking anywhere and it was raining and hailing so Curtis went back to work and got dropped off to the client by his boss.

Curtis spent a while at the client and then risked the walk back. The wind was so powerful that Curtis nearly got blown over a few times!

Curtis got back to the office, finished off a few cases and did some admin before leaving the office at 16:10.

Both of us;

When we were both home, Kim spent most of the evening booking some things for a trip we are taking soon.

We had leftover chilli for dinner and Curtis made amazing rice again! We watched TV whilst we ate and then got dessert we had popcorn and Maltesers.

Place 49 – Day 285: Auckland – Best Rice Ever

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis just got to work on time after leaving a bit late after he didn’t sleep well at all last night.

Curtis got to work and again, right from the get go, had some emails to check and reply to as well as some other things.

The work seemed to pile on again today, but Curtis did get to do some different, interesting things which made time go fast.

Both of us;

Once Kim got home, we went for a walk to the supermarket, which seemed like a good idea until it started to rain. Luckily, we arrived at the perfect time and got into the shop nice and dry.

As we left the supermarket, it was a much different story! It was absolutely chucking it down…we waited for a bit and then braved it. We ducked into a Chinese bakery and looked at the goods on offer to have another break from the weather. When we left, the rain had subsided a little so we hastily made our way back home.

Once we got home, we made a delicious chilli con carne. Curtis made what is probably the best rice ever made and they whole meal was phenomenal!

We watched a few more episodes of No Offence which made us incredibly tense and then went to bed, hoping to get a better night of sleep.

Place 49 – Day 282: Auckland – Catching Up on TV

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis had absolutely no traffic on the way to work so got there 20 minutes early.

The morning was ridiculously busy! Curtis started the day with 5 cases and by 11:00 he had 12! Only 2 cases got done in the morning and then he had his lunch, which was much anticipated.

Once Curtis finished lunch, he planned to have a remote session but the remote software stopped working so it took a while to get that done!

Curtis left to go home and 16:20 and once he got home he wanted for Kim to get back.

Both of us;

Kim went to buy a fan after work and then came home.

We put on a wash and then made dinner together.

We made sausages, potatoes, green beans and gravy!

For the evening, we caught up on Suits and The Great British Bake Off before sleeping.
