Place 72 – Day 294: Vancouver, BC – FaceTime & Online Shopping

Facetime

We woke up and had a chat with Kim’s Dad followed by her sister on FaceTime!

It was nice to catch up with them.

After that, we had some breakfast, just some cereal, and then we each, slowly, got ready for the day.

As we’re both still isolating, we can’t actually do anything, but it was nice to get ready for the day anyway.

After we were ready, we watched a bit more TV and then did an online shop to get some more groceries as we won’t be able to go out and get any, so we’ll get those tomorrow.

Leftovers

We had our leftovers from yesterday’s dinner and then some cookies!

We watched the film Hanna after dinner, too.

We played some games and watched more TV.

Place 72 – Day 289: Vancouver, BC – New Cleaning Tools

Curtis’ Day

Curtis started the day with some admin and then had a security risk to deal with.

He spent over an hour dealing with the security risk, but it was interesting for him!

He was able to get the risk resolved which was excellent.

He then had a discussion with someone around some requirements they have for a piece of software which is currently not supported. He had to find out why they wish to use it and then discuss with his team.

He had his daily team meeting as well and he also did some tickets.

After that, it was time for the monthly questions with one of the top team leads who answers everyone’s questions about the overall team (which encapsulates a lot of teams).

We both had lunch together, which was really nice, and then got back to work.

Curtis had a meeting in the afternoon which was to start another project, and he is the Business Analyst on this one.

He was able to get some answers to some questions he needed which was excellent.

Curtis did some admin for the project after that and even got some training done!

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day with a game of Cribbage and her pair nearly won, they were up the whole game! Then they didn’t, but never mind! There are still two more games to play!

Shortly after this, and doing some admin, Kim joined a team meeting. It was great to talk to everyone and see how they were all doing after the weekend. They then moved on to the team project and gave updates as to where everyone is with their stuff.

After the meeting Kim did a little admin and then started working on the post project she has. She had to call FedEx and that took a while but it was a very productive call and she was able to arrange a pickup that she had been struggling with online, so that was a great success. Kim sent a couple a follow emails. Even after lunch Kim was still working on this, it took up most of her day! Towards the end if the day she sent out a few chaser emails related to this as well.

As the day finished Kim worked a little on the team project.

New Cleaning Tools!

When we went to the shop on Sunday morning, we got a swiffer to clean the floor with as we have only hard floors now, so we needed something to work alongside our vacuum that would actually wash the floor.

Once finishing work, we put it to the test and cleaned all the floors in the apartment, which made them look much better!

After that, Kim made some dinner! She made chicken in a white wine/cheese style sauce with mushrooms, potatoes, peas, broccoli and carrots. Very delicious!

We watched some TV and Kim tried playing COD: Warzone for the first time!

Place 72 – Day 283: Vancouver, BC – Move Out Checklist

Curtis’ Day

Curtis did some admin and a few tickets in the morning and then at 11:00, him and Kim left together and walked down to their respective workplaces!

Curtis had to tidy the IT equipment on each desk so that the desks were easier to clean when the cleaners come in to do a disinfect.

Once Curtis got in he got started and finished sorting the desks about 1.5 hours later.

Curtis then stayed at the office and helped the office administrator do a few things around the place.

At 14:00, Curtis walked home. Once he was home, he answered some messages, did some admin and then had a bit of lunch.

Curtis jumped on a call for the remaining time in the day to figure out some new things his team has taken on and help a specific person out with it.

After that, he did a few things around the apartment and waited for Kim to come back from the office.

Kim’s Day

Kim caught up on emails before she headed into the office with Curtis. She then spent some time doing general admin and continuing with the office clean up.

Kim spent a lot of her afternoon in meetings the first one was planned so she joined a couple of her colleagues to go through a process and how it works so Kim has a better idea of what she needs to be doing.

After this Kim jumped on a call with a differnt colleague to go over some plans for the coming weeks. It was just a short call as Kim had to jump on another call with someone and help them out with something while Kim was available in the office.

Once Kim finished up with that meeting she called her colleague back up so they could continue brainstorming for the coking weeks. They made some good plans and a lot of progress!

Move Out Checklist

We headed to the old apartment right after Kim got back to give it another once over and then meet our old landlord to complete the move out checklist.

We did the checklist and there were a few things we still need to do, so we noted those down and we’ll be heading back tomorrow get those sorted.

We were very hungry so we headed home for some dinner!

Kim made a really good vegetarian spaghetti bolognese.

We ate that and relaxed for the remainder of the evening.

Place 72 – Day 275: Vancouver, BC – One Bed Gone, Another Acquired!

New Bed

We got up and had some toasties with some of the remaining mozzarella cheese and some cheddar and then we got ready.

We were speaking with a company about getting a bed from them, out in Richmond, so we agreed a pickup time and drove out to them.

It took us about 25 minutes to get there and we picked up the bed frame. It’s a simple metal frame, but it does the job!

We got that back home and started to build it.

Old Bed Gone!

As we were building the bed, someone said they can pickup our old bed and buy it from us, so we had to stop building and drove across to the other apartment to get the bed out for them.

They were also British and had been here about the same amount of time as we have!

We had a little (distanced) chat with them and then drove back home to finish the bed.

It didn’t take too long to finish building the bed, and now we have an actual bed instead of a mattress!

We were hungry after this, so we made a veggie spaghetti bolognese and relaxed for the rest of the night.

Place 72 – Day 267: Vancouver, BC – The Calm Before The Storm

We had no plans for today, so we did basically nothing!

We wanted to get some relaxing in before we have to move this to week.

We woke up and just had some serial for breakfast and watched a little TV.

After that, we had a shower and then Curtis played some games whilst Kim relaxed and played on her phone.

We watched a little more TV together and then got hungry, so Kim made her delicious chicken and mushroom risotto!

After dinner, we watched Birds of Prey which was a pretty decent film.

Birds of Prey

Our Rating:- 7/10

We finished up with watching that and then someone came to pickup something we were selling, which was just a storage rack.

The person came to pick that up and then for the rest of the evening, we just relaxed a little more.

We have a lot of stuff to pack up this week!

Apartment Viewings

We had a bunch of people come and look at our apartment today, which pretty much took up our time.

We had breakfast and then at 12:00, the people started arriving.

We had 4 sets of people which took a look and this took us to about 14:45.

After our viewings, we listed our sofa and some other stuff we can’t take to our new apartment for sale.

Quick Shop & Spider Man

After this, Kim went and did a quick shop, which didn’t take long at all!

We had chicken tacos for dinner and watched Spider Man: Far From Home. We thought it was alright, but not as good as the previous.

Spider Man: Far From Home

Our Rating:- 5/10

We finished that up with some games and TV.

Place 72 – Day 203: Vancouver, BC – 4 Hours of Training!

4 Hours Of Training

Kim went to pole training that had been set up for competitors only at 10:00 and it was so much fun!

She got some good guidance and saw some beautiful routines!

In the middle she popped out to get a snack and she walked her friend to the train station. After that Kim had more energy and was able to draw up two new and good combos, which was amazing!

Now all she has to do is clean them up and sew them all together!

Kim popped back for a bit of lunch and then went to a parkour gym where she worked on a couple of moves that she may be able to fit into the routine. She didn’t nail the moves this week, however made some good progress!

Curtis did basically nothing today, just playing games and relaxing.

Evening

Once Kim got back from all her training, we had some food (leftover KFC with rice and vegetables) and then sat and watched the Netflix film Spenser Confidential as it looked like it might be funny.

Place 72 – Day 189: Vancouver, BC – Tyre Is Back & Bartending

Breakfast

We had a grilled cheese for breakfast and watched a bit of TV.

After that, Kim spoke with her family whilst Curtis got ready for the day.

Tyre

Once Curtis was ready, Kim got ready and we headed out to take the car to the garage and get the wheel put back on.

We got it there and they said it’d be 30 minutes, so we went to get a coffee.

We found a place nearby and it wasn’t great, but it was coffee.

By the time we got back to the garage, they’d done the tyre so we picked the car up and came back home.

Studying

Kim did some studying when we got home and Curtis watched the leafs game (which was the most embarrassing game of all time).

TGISS Bartending

Kim went out to Richmond to her pole place and she was going to bartend for the competition they were holding there.

Kim had a really fun time bartending and getting to watch all of the performances too.

Kim took the train home and when she got back we made a snack to fill us up.

Place 72 – Day 183: Vancouver, BC – Cupid

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a couple of meetings in the morning.

One meeting was about a project which is just getting going. This had to involve some people outside of Curtis’ team so that he could gather some information from them.

The other meeting was to meet a new person in one of the teams, who replaced someone that recently left the company. This was a good meeting and was good to get introduced to him. He isn’t new to the company but he is new to the role.

Curtis got a laptop setup for someone and also did a lot of tickets during the day, some of which were in person so he got a bit of a walk, too.

Curtis ended the day with some training which he was glad to get in.

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day by moving furniture in the kitchen to make room for the pizza party at lunch time!

After this Kim worked on the shopping for next week and sorted that order out. She then went back into the kitchen to set up the laptop and help with the pizzas being set out.

The pizza party today was in celebration of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics as the company did a lot of work for that! Kim had the projector set up playing highlights of the Olympics and everyone ate pizza!
In the afternoon Kim made a few more games / things to do for valentine’s day tomorrow.

She also cleaned up all the cupboards in the kitchen, organised things behind her desk and attempted to fix the latch on the boardrooms door frame. Unfortunately she didnt have the right screws so will try again tomorrow.

Kim stayed a little later again today and then ran around and played cupid to give everyone little choccies on their desk to come in to tomorrow as ‘cupid has been overnight’! The only headache was that she ran out, so she had to run across the street to pick up a few more for the last desks.

Evening

Curtis got home and watched hockey.

Kim had to rush home from work after leaving late so she could make it to training!

Kim got to training but struggled with the first class. She bounced back in the 2nd class and had a really successful and good time.

We packed a little for our weekend trip, but we don’t need to take too much!

Place 72 – Day 139: Vancouver, BC – New Years Eve 2019

Curtis’ Day

Curtis got to work and noticed there were two tickets for him to work on, requesting assistance with a migration.

That took up most of the day for Curtis, but he did have a little bit of time to do a few other things.

Curtis’ day was shorter as the office closed at 15:00.

Curtis took the train home so he got home in time for the Leafs game to start!

Curtis watched the leafs game and did a few things around the apartment whilst waiting for Kim to get back home.

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day by going over the flagged emails she has before cracking on with the meeting room tidy up. Kim cleaned all the whiteboards and ensured all the meeting rooms had everything they needed in them.

After this Kim continued with emails before having a meeting / catch up with her colleague. It was great to get the tine to touch base about some of the projects that they are working on and to also catch up in general.

Kim then ran out to get lunch before the whole handful of people in the office shared a couple of bottled of bubbly to celebrate the beginning of a new year.

Kim finished the day by catching up on a few emails that came in while she was cleaning and then headed home.

New Years Eve

We cuddled up and watched TV whilst we ate cheese and drank wine. A perfect evening, really!

It isn’t yet midnight, but we plan to be awake when it hits the new year.
