Place 60 – Day 4: Rotorua – Free Banh Mi!

We had a very lazy start to the day and we didn’t go out until around 13:00.

We just went for a walk in the centre of Rotorua whilst Tom cycled. The centre is quite smelly, due to the sulphur around the area, but we walked up and down the streets anyway, just looking around and taking in the sites.

We stopped at a Vietnamese cafe where us two and Maggie got a Vietnamese coffee and we both got a Banh Mi each too. When it was brought out, we had an extra Banh Mi, so Maggie got one free!

We left here, went to the shop and walked back to the car and chilled out when we got back home.

Tom got back from his mountain biking and we had some dinner. We just had salad, as we did yesterday.

We did absolutely nothing for the rest of the evening and itwas brilliant. We have plans, at least for the next couple of days, one of which is crazy!

Place 49 – Day 374: Auckland – Christmas Day 2018

We were up at a decent time this morning and it was time for Christmas!

The weather was terrible, as ever, on Christmas day in Auckland.

Kim made some bacon and egg sandwiches for breakfast.

Shortly after breakfast, once we opened some presents and got ready, we attempted to go for a walk on Takapuna beach as it had stopped raining. Unfortunately, it rained when we got in the car and, when we say rained, we mean it bucketed down for a while, so we turned around and came back home.

We all got into comfy clothes and watched the July 22 film, about the Utøya & Oslo attacks in 2011. A very good film, actually, though not the most uplifiting of films!

After this, Kim began working away on our Christmas dinner. This took a couple of hours, but was well worth the wait. We had roast potatoes, roast sweet potato, mashed potato & sweet potato mash, beetroot, asparagus, potato gratin, cauliflower cheese, yorkshire puddings, stuffing, carrots, mushrooms and gravy.

After dinner, with our full bellies, we watched the film Elf which was a great throwback!

At 22:00, we spoke with Curtis’ family for a catch up, followed by Kim’s sister Abbie.

We then all went to bed as we’ve done nothing today so we’re very tired.

Place 49 – Day 310: Auckland – Unfortunately Back Home

We woke up at 09:15 and Danielle’s mum was making a wonderful breakfast. We had bacon, eggs, toast, luncheon and hash browns.

After breakfast, we all got showered and ready before going outside for the last bit of sunbathing!

We didn’t really do anything for the few hours before we left for Auckland, but it was nice to chill outside in the sun again.

We left around 14:15 and drove back to Auckland. We didn’t hit traffic for a couple of hours and then we hit it where Danielle and Josh normally get it so it wasn’t too bad.

We got home for around 18:00 and went right to the supermarket to get food for both tonight and for the week.

When we got home, we spoke with Nicola about our weekend and about her week as she was away on work.

We then had chicken burgers for dinner with a side salad.

We caught up on the apprentice that we missed and we have so much more to watch, too.

We are very tired from the weekend but it was worth it as we had an amazing time!

Unfortunately, we are back at work tomorrow but it’s just a 4 day week and we also realised it’s just around 8 weeks until we stop working!

Place 62 – Day 1: Bland Bay 🇳🇿 – Amphibious Boat, Waterskiing & Bonfires

We woke up nice and early this morning to get up to Bland Bay.

We left and stopped at the supermarket, which we arrived to just before it opened for the day.

We got all of our supplies, got some breakfast and headed off.

We got up to the house around 10:45, settled in and then went out on the boat! They have an amphibious boat which has wheels as well as being a boat so you can’t drive it right into the water! We had a great time in this boat as we went to a couple of beaches which we walked around.

We finished up with that and when we got back the sun was scorching so we sat outside for a few hours just catching the sun.

It was then decided that people would try Waterskiing! This didn’t work too well as it was too choppy, but people got a few goes out of it.

Once the boat was back, Josh sent out a contraption which goes out into the water and had a lot of hooks on it and catches fish, using a fishing line.

We all sat around drinking and chatting with all of the surrounding neighbours when a boat drove into the contraption, causing it to get a bit damaged and wrap around the propeller of the boat! People were able to salvage it and there wasn’t much damage. We were even able to get the few fish that had been caught on it!

Shortly after it started to get a little colder, so we went inside and had our dinner which was nachos.

We saw the beautiful sunset go down, too.

After it became dark, we lit a nice mini bonfire and all sat around that eating s’mores, listening to music and having a laugh!

We finished having the fire around 22:10 as everyone was exhausted but it was an action packed and really fun day!

Tomorrow should be just as fun!
