Place 72 – Day 897: Vancouver, BC – Switching Up Our Walk

We woke up fairly late, accidentally, and then had some french toast for breakfast.

Once we were done with breakfast, we watched the Formula 1 race and then got ourselves ready to go out.

We went out for a walk, as usual, but we walked a bit of a different way once we got to the park.

We walked around a lake that is in the park, which was a little quieter, greener and had some herons in the lake that we watched for a bit.

We walked back home and were pretty hungry, so made some dinner when we got back. We had vegetables, egg and chicken on top of rice, which was really nice.

We went out to do the weekly shop, but we also went to Canadian Tire to pickup some new cutlery.

We did our shop and headed back to the car, where there was a bit of an altercation happening. Nothing physical, but we waited with one of the people until the police arrived. That was a bit of excitement for the evening but luckily everyone was ok.

We headed back home and watched a bit of TV, then we did a little bit of reading in Norwegian. Curtis bought Kim a book for her birthday and she took a look at it today and enjoyed reading in Norwegian!

Kim then had a bath whilst Curtis played some games, then we watched some TV for the remainder of the evening.

Place 72 – Day 882: Vancouver, BC – Lazy Rainy Saturday

We woke up much later then planned, but it was very nice to get some sleep.

We had some scrambled egg on toast for breakfast and watched a bit of TV.

We then got ourselves showered and fresh for the day. As it was rainy and gross today, we planned to just sit inside and relax. We briefly went out to get a coffee and then came back home.

Curtis watched hockey whilst Kim did some reading. Kim got very into the book she was reading and read it for hours!

Once that was done, we had leftovers for dinner and then watched some TV, followed by a movie called Miss Bala.

Place 72 – Day 480: Vancouver, BC – Finishing A Book & Playing Card Games

We woke up a little later today, because, Sunday!

We had cinnamon buns for breakfast again and had a pretty lazy day overall.

We got some housework done throughout the day, some laundry and we did the dishes and we did some vacuuming.

We went out to get ourselves a coffee and then came right back home as it was very gross outside!

Kim managed to finish a book she was reading in the morning and when we got back from getting our coffee, we played a bunch of games! We started with Connect 4 and then played some card games. We do enjoy playing some physical games from time to time.

Kim then made a chicken katsu curry which took some time but was delicious!

We watched a bit of TV and some YouTube videos and then Kim had a nice relaxing bath before bed.

Place 72 – Day 382: Vancouver, BC – Enjoyable Pole Dancing

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a pretty good morning which started with a 1 on 1.

Curtis then had his team meeting and then had a few other discussions with his team about a few issues people were having with the new security setup the company rolled out.

After lunch, Curtis did some tickets and then did a bit of reading for his Business Analyst course.

Kim’s Day

Loads of people joined todays midweek catch-up and it was great. They spoke about their favourite music and everyone loved the same kind of music, except Kim, but they all like heavy metal and are used to being the odd one out. So it was a nice switch up for them.

When she arrived in the office Kim worked on a test idea that she had. She out it all together, made sure it works and took lots of photos. She then made a diagram for it and made notes.

Kim found a lot of marketing stuff in her big clean up a few months ago. As part of this she got a lot of hoodies, so she reached out to everyone who should have a hoodie and will work on getting them sent out.

In the afternoon Kim had a meeting with her colleague to go over some facilities communications that need to go out. She also amended and updated a Wiki page to allow for more information to be added to the page. So she reorganised the information on there, added a table and made a new section for more information to go on.

Pole Dancing!

Once Kim got back home, she got ready and went right down to Gastown to do some pole dancing!

The pole classes were amazing! Kim’s first class was tricks based and focused on handstands, which Kim loved! The second class was a lyrical dance class where they did a flowy routine and it was so fun.

Once Kim got back home, we had some leftover risotto for dinner and watched a bit of TV.

Place 72 – Day 365: Vancouver, BC – Sitting In The Sun

Usual Beach Walk

We got up and had some french toast for breakfast.

We watched a bit of YouTube and relaxed and then we got ready for the day.

We went out for a walk in the blistering heat! The weather was about 31°C today and felt like 33°C, so certainly warm!

We walked down to the beach, stopping for a coffee along the way, of course.

We got to near the beach and we sat on the grass in the shade, just drinking our coffee and people watching.

We walked on the beach for a bit and dipped our feet in the water, but eventually we got a bit too warm to walk around in the heat, so we walked back home.

Sitting In The Sun

Once we got home, we relaxed for a bit and then Kim went out to the park near our apartment to sit down in the sun, read a book and listen to some podcasts!

Kim got back, incredibly warm, and then we had some dinner. We had coconut and lime chicken with rice and it was really good!

Evening

We watched a few episodes of TV and then Kim did a facemask for the evening.

We watched some more TV and played some games for the rest of our Sunday evening.

Place 72 – Day 318: Vancouver, BC – Breaking & Fixing Things

Curtis’ Day

Curtis kicked the day off with getting a new account created for an onboard, which he hasn’t done for a long while, but he can’t do the laptop as there was none of them in Vancouver, so they have to get done in the Winnipeg office.

Curtis finished that and then did a few security things.

Once that was done, Curtis did a computer checkup which went really well.

Right after that, Curtis helped someone get their laptop removed and back onto the domain do that it works correctly.

This took a while as it wouldn’t let them log back in, so Curtis and to try a few different things and it eventually worked!

Curtis had his team meeting once that was done and then had lunch.

After lunch, Curtis did a few tickets and got some reading done, which has been a couple of weeks since he got any reading done.

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day by sorting out banks of desks. She collected up, removed and replaced extension cables on one side of the building. It took longer than planned so Kim decided to move on.

She had to sort out a few things for people returning to work so she popped to one shop and picked up a few things and as it is a surprise, Kim will be very vague. She popped to another shop and then realised that the first purchase was on her personal card! So Kim went back to the first shop, sorted that out and went back to the office to organise all the things she bought.

She showed her colleague the plan for the stuff that was bought, for the go ahead, so went and picked up the few missing things thay are needed. When she got back to the office she continued putting it all together.

After lunch Kim had a donut chat with a great colleague and it was so much fun. They spoke about how strange COVID has been and a bunch of other stuff, it was great!

After that call, Kim had a meeting with her colleague and then finished up making the things and then sent a few emails before heading home!

Evening

When Kim got home, she marinated some chicken for tomorrow’s dinner and then also made some food for today.

We had chicken breasts with a sun-dried tomato, mustard, garlic, ginger and sour cream sauce.

We had this alongside mushrooms and some other vegetables.

We ate this and spent the rest of the evening watching TV, playing games and just relaxing.

Tomorrow is a day off for Canada Day, so we did plan to go out and maybe go to a park, but the weather is expected to be quite bad tomorrow so we probably won’t do much.

Place 72 – Day 228: Vancouver, BC – Plenty of Booze!

Curtis’ Day

We were going to go for a walk when we woke up, but right as we got outside, Kim realised she had a meeting at 08:00, so we went right back in!

Curtis did some admin and then some tickets before his team meeting.

After the meeting, another meeting he had got cancelled so he did some more ticket work and then finished off the morning with training.

After lunch, Curtis had a quick meeting with someone to show them how to do a couple of things and then did a bit of project work and research.

Curtis did some more training and then played some games with his team for team building!

Kim’s Day

Kim started the day with a week a midweek catch up that is open to all offices. There were a lot less people than last week, but it we still great to see people and have a chat!
After this, Kim joined the company wide meeting.

For some of the morning Kim worked on a few quizzes. She has a fair few ideas and it doesn’t look like this working from home situation will be changing anytime soon so she might as well add a few and use them as and when!

She also worked on her spreadsheet that logs the cribbage tournament. She made it easier to read and made the scoring sytem automated! She was very proud of this as she hasn’t used some of the formulas in years!

After lunch Kim joined on a catch up call with people in her team and who sit near by. It was great to see everyone and chat to them, she has missed them all!

Straight after this Kim watched the first game of the cribbage tournament and then updated the shiney new spreadsheet with the results.

Kim then spent the rest of the afternoon setting up games for in the future.

Plenty of Booze!

We did our workout which nearly killed us today!

After that, we walked up to the liquor store to get some wine, beer and pre mixed Moscow mules, just to stock up so we have plenty for any occasion.

We got back home and were hungry, so we had a big salad to start with and then leftovers from yesterday.

We watched TV and then played some mini sticks hockey at home, which was WAY more fun for us than it should have been, but was nice to get away from a screen for a bit.
