Place 72 – Sep 25 to Sep 26 2021: Vancouver, BC – Walking Alpacas!

Saturday 25 September 2021

On Saturday, Curtis was up at a good time to go and get a haircut. He had a really great barber, actually! She was new at the shop but she was very nice and did a great job. Curtis’ll definately be going back to her for his next cut.

Right after that, Curtis walked back home and met Kim, before we walked for about 30 minutes to get to a park for a BBQ with Curtis’ hockey team which the team organised!

Not too many people turned up, but it was nice to have a bit of down time in the blistering sun, eat some food and have some drinks.

We headed back home and Kim went out to get a few items at some stores and Curtis watched the first Leafs pre season game!

Sunday 26 September 2021

On Sunday morning, we were up early and got ourselves some croissants for breakfast.

We left the apartment into the lovely rain and drove for about an hour up to Langley to a farm!

Kim had booked an alpaca walking experience for us both as Curtis’ favourite animal is the alpaca.

We got there and were handed an alpaca right away. We were able to walk them for a bit and then we got to a field where we met many more alpacas and got to feed them whilst we learned all about them.

We got to see the pigs, chickens & rabbits followed by some cows that came to say hello!

We headed back home after we were there for a while and once we got back we were pretty hungry, so we went out for an impromptu late lunch!

We went to Water St Cafe, which is down in Gastown.

We may have got far too much food, though on the plus side, we had dinner for the next night!

We got some mixed breads along with a cheese caprise, which was very delicious. The bread was really good too.

We finished that and for some reason, we order a meal each. Kim got a carbonara and Curtis got meatball pasta.

We had very little of our meals as it was a little too much for us! But we did have a few drinks which were delicious.

We walked back home in the rain and when we got home we did some relaxing for the remainder of the evening.

All in all, a fun, busy weekend!

Place 72 – Day 987: Vancouver, BC – Korean BBQ Lunch

We woke up and felt very well rested, which was great.

We had some breakfast which was just ‘stuff’ cobbled together. We had cookies leftover from dinner last night (which were free), some cake and some fruit, as well as juice and Curtis had a coffee.

We got ourselves ready and then we chatted with Kim’s parents for a bit.

After that, Kim went out to meet some people for work for lunch! The plan was to have an outdoor gathering, but that was cancelled due to rain, so she met them for food instead.

The food was just okay, but she had a really good time hanging out with them for quite a while! She also had some tiramisu pancakes which were good.

Once Kim got back home, we just did some laying down and relaxing for a while. We eventually got ourselves up and made some quick, easy dinner. We needed to use the mushrooms we bought, so we had those with some other things.

We watched some TV and relaxed for the rest of the evening.

Place 72 – Day 924: Vancouver, BC – Sleeping Is Great!

We woke up at around 12:00, which was far too late, but we slept through our alarms so we clearly needed to sleep. On the plus side, we love sleep, so we weren’t too annoyed.

The weather was meant to be bad today, but it was actually alright, so we decided that once we get ready, we’ll for a walk.

We had some breakfast sandwiches and then we got ourselves ready and went out to the beach, but we walked to Peaked Pies first to get ourselves a coffee! They do some of the best coffee we have had in Vancouver so far, so why not walk there and get some?

We then walked to the beach and even say at the beach and just watched the world go buy. It started to rain a little, so we took that as a sign to head back.

We walked back along the seawall and stopped off at a shop to get a few things for dinner.

We just had a simple dinner and once we finished eating, we watched a film! We watched Army of The Dead which was pretty silly but actually not bad, though a little long.

Kim then ordered some things she needed to order for work and then we watched a little more TV. The weather is not meant to be good tomorrow, so we plan to do very little.

Place 72 – Day 883: Vancouver, BC – We Achieved!

We woke up and had some pain au chocolat and coffee from our favourite bakery and then got ourselves ready for the day, slowly.

The weather was gross again, so we decided we would get some more home shopping done.

We went to Homesense and Home Depot to get a bunch of things and it was very successful, though a bit busy!

We finished up there and still had a few things to get, so we went to Bed Bath & Beyond for a few other items.

We got done here and headed home, getting back at around 18:00. We were so hungry! Curtis went up to 2 different supermarkets to find something for dinner that was quick and easy, but there was nothing there. We were so hungry that we just ordered Tacofino and picked that up so we could eat quickly!

We then took down a bunch of recycling we had in the apartment, turns out that Sunday is the worst day as it was so busy, and then after that Kim had her nice relaxing weekly bath whilst Curtis played some games.

We then watched some TV together and headed to bed shortly after.

Place 72 – Day 578: Vancouver, BC – Mini Lasagna

We woke up at a pretty good time and then had a nice breakfast.

We wanted to have a walk, but it was raining pretty heavily and had no signs of slowing down, so instead we went and got a coffee then headed back home.

We got home and watched some TV and played a few games, then we went out to do the shop. We stopped off at Homesense and Curtis found a new coat as his has broken and we got a few other items we needed from there, then went onto the shop.

We got back home after the shop and we were hungry! Kim made a homemade mini (veggie) lasagna, which was exactly what we wanted, apparently!

Once we ate that, we took our the recycling and Kim the had her relaxing bath before we sat down to watch some TV together.

Place 72 – Day 549: Vancouver, BC – New Coffee Shop?

We had a late start today but had a really good sleep!

We got up and had a cooked breakfast, similar to our dinner we had the other night, and then got ourselves ready for the day.

We went out for a short walk, just in time to beat the rain!

We had a coffee at a shop we had walked past a lot but never been in called Matchsticks.

We really liked the coffee from there, so it may be a new one we visit from time to time!

We had our short walk until it just started to rain, then we headed back home.

Curtis then watched hockey and Kim looked at some apartments and watched Happy Feet.

We then had a nice easy dinner, some chicken with rice, and then relaxed watching some TV and playing games.

Place 72 – Day 529: Vancouver, BC – Apartment Browsing

We woke up a little later today as we really had no plans.

We woke up and had some crepes for breakfast.

We slowly got ourselves ready and then went out for a walk, in the rain, to get out for a bit, but also to get another hot chocolate for Kim to try.

We went to an Italian cafe for the hot chocolate today, it was a salted caramel hot chocolate and Curtis had a cappuccino.

The hot chocolate was really nice but the cappuccino was a little disappointing.

We walked for a bit but it started to rain a little heavier, so we headed home.

Once we got home, we watched a bit of TV to relax for a bit, then Kim had some things to do for our PR, so she did that and then we took a look at some 2 bedroom apartments online as we are thinking of getting ourselves some more space! We even booked in to see one in the same building we are currently in, for Tuesday, just to see how it is.

We then made a veggie roast for dinner, which we were very excited for!

We ate that, and were stuffed, so the remainder of the evening was a lot of relaxing.

We have what is hopefully the last apartment viewing of our apartment tomorrow evening.

Place 72 – Day 498: Vancouver, BC – New Year’s Eve 2020

We tried to wake up at a good time, but accidentally fell back asleep and woke up at 12:00!

We had some breakfast and then got ready, but once we got ready, the weather had turned and there was a lot of rain, so we didn’t go for a walk.

Kim did a little bit of work that she had to do and we also took a photo of Kim for our PR application.

We played some games and then had some cheese and wine for dinner whilst watching the film Set It Up, which we actually really enjoyed.

We played some more games and watched TV and have no plans for when it hits 00:00, as you’d expect!

Happy New Year to everyone and let’s hope COVID-19 gets under control at some point in 2021! 🤞

Place 72 – Day 486: Vancouver, BC – Gross Weather

We woke up at around 12:00 accidentally, but it was a nice sleep!

We had some cinnamon buns for breakfast (yes, we still have some) then we spent the entire day just playing games and watching TV. We didn’t really have any plans and the weather was really gross, just raining all day, so we just relaxed.

When it came to dinner time, we had leftover Korean from yesterday which was as delicious as it was yesterday.

Kim watched the next movie in the series of The Hunger Games whilst Curtis played games.

We’ve decided we will be smart and go to the shop during the week instead as it should be less busy than the weekend (especially before Christmas).

Place 72 – Day 480: Vancouver, BC – Finishing A Book & Playing Card Games

We woke up a little later today, because, Sunday!

We had cinnamon buns for breakfast again and had a pretty lazy day overall.

We got some housework done throughout the day, some laundry and we did the dishes and we did some vacuuming.

We went out to get ourselves a coffee and then came right back home as it was very gross outside!

Kim managed to finish a book she was reading in the morning and when we got back from getting our coffee, we played a bunch of games! We started with Connect 4 and then played some card games. We do enjoy playing some physical games from time to time.

Kim then made a chicken katsu curry which took some time but was delicious!

We watched a bit of TV and some YouTube videos and then Kim had a nice relaxing bath before bed.
