Place 72 – Day 163: Vancouver, BC – Chinese New Year Lunch

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a busy day right from the start.

He had some things planned to do, which he did do, but also had a few people speak with him and ask for stuff, so he got that done too.

At 12:00, which came around way too fast, Curtis joined in on the lunch that was happening! Everyone put $15 in and shared a big Chinese takeaway!

It was pretty good food and a good chance to socialise.

Curtis didn’t think he’d have much to do after this, as he didn’t have anything planned, but then a few tickets came in which gave Curtis things to do until 16:20 which is when he then had a drink with some colleagues.

Curtis walked home alone as Kim had some more work to do. He got some cool photos on the way home.

Kim’s Day

As she had dropped everything off at work the night before Kim was able to start straight away with securing the new bookshelf to the wall. Shortly after this she popped out to the liquor to pick up the drinks for the afternoon.

A while after she got back, Kim helped set up the IT stuff for the monthly social talks and also got all the pizza set up. Kim orgnaised the talks well by keeping everyone in their times and making sure that everyone had a chance to ask questions.

After ahe cleared up the pizza Kim had a small amount of time to make some progress with her organising around the office so she focused on the area around her desk and arranged printer cartridges to be swapped out and had started to out things back now that the shelves had been secured.

Kim then popped out to get some eggs for one of the desserts for Lunar New Year. When she got back Kim aet up and prepared all of the snacks and printed out the answer sheets for the riddles.
Once the celebrations started Kim ran around the office giving out New Year red envelopes to everyone.

While everyone else had Friday afternoon drinks Kim organised, condensed and labelled all of the decorations and took them back down to storage. She then set a few things up for the week coming and then cleared away everything from the drinks and New Year celebrations.

Late Hockey!

Curtis has a late hockey game, so you won’t see about that until tomorrow as it’ll finish at around 00:00.

We had a bit of food, watched some TV and then headed out to the rink.

Place 72 – Day 59: Vancouver, BC – Canada🇨🇦 Day Festivities!

Music, Lemonade & Japanese Curry

We knew that there were festivities in the city today, so we walked down there, after Curtis had a morning nose bleed and then breakfast!

We got down to Granville Island which had some sort of party happening but it was rather busy and there wasn’t much going on, so we walked to the city instead. There was a giant flag, though!

The first stop was at Starbucks for a coffee and then we walked on to the Vancouver Conference Centre.

We got into the area where some things were happening and looked at the food trucks. There wasn’t much else going on in this area really, other than a couple of music stages and for some reason, the North American Irish Dancing Championships.

We walked out of here and into Canada Place, which had some more activities happening. There was a kids section with a few games and also an Armed Forces section.

We moved on from Canada Place and came across a lemonade stand, so we had to get one! It was just OK.

We walked around some more and then got hungry and fed up of the large crowds, so we walked towards our home and found an Asian supermarket which had a Japanese Curry place inside it!

Curtis got a ‘deluxe curry’ which was chicken katsu, katsu potato & shrimp katsu with rice and curry!

Kim got a chicken katsu curry.

The food was pretty great! We were going to stay in the city for another 6 hours, but we were very tired and there wasn’t much else to do, so we went home.

Firework Hunting

We sat and watched some TV until 22:20 when the fireworks were due to start and then we went outside to see if we could see them.

Unfortunately, they were just a little too far away, but we did some some fireworks in the end. And we did get a great photo or two of the city!
