Place 72 – Day 976: Vancouver, BC – A Patio Lunch

Curtis’s Day

Curtis woke up and got ready and did some work in the morning, after a nice scrambled egg breakfast made by Kim!

Curtis then had a Norwegian lesson and right after that he walked down to the office.

Someone that works with Curtis but out of a different office was in Vancouver, so he got to meet them in person and the other people from the Winnipeg office that were doing work in Curtis’ office are still in Vancouver, so they all went out for lunch!

Curtis was able to actually eat some food, slowly, too! He had a blackened chicken rice bowl which was actually quite nice.

This lunch overran quite a bit but it was a lot of fun. Nice to sit and chat and feel a little normal, though it was a little weird at first.

Curtis went back to the office briefly and then walked home.

Once Curtis got home, he caught up and completed a few things he needed to do and then was done for the day.

Kim’s Day

Kim had a great start to her day! She had a meeting with a potential new hire and then she had a 1-1 with one of her teammates. She also gave the update in the weekly meeting before hosting a post interview review to see how it went and the next steps!

Towards the end of the morning Kim had a connect with her manager about a few things that needed to be sorted out before giving an update in the weekly finance meeting. After that call Kim had a couple of minutes to make some lunch so had a chat with her manager while she made and ate lunch.

Both Kim and her manager then went into a weekly recruitment meeting to discuss a lot of roles that are in process. She then had a quick meeting to do some event planning and give everyone updates on the couple of catch ups that are being hosted next month.

To finish the day Kim had an interview, a quick review and then she joined a meeting with a department leader to get them set up for interviews and iron out the phone screen questions they would want to have being asked in that stage.

Evening

Kim got back home from pole and we watched a bit of TV and relaxed together. Kim is going to an office to work all day tomorrow and Curtis has meetings all day!

Place 72 – Day 520: Vancouver, BC – ANOTHER Application Submitted!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis and a team meeting at 09:30 and then was busy with some tickets followed by some admin and security work before it hit lunchtime.

Once lunch was done, Curtis had some questions and tickets to attend to, then he started a project. It was mostly figuring out what needs to be done for the project, but there was a little bit he got done, too.

He had a quick request from someone on his team for some information so he found that and provided it to them, then it was the end of the day and time to watch hockey!

Kim’s Day

To start her day Kim sent a few emails and set up some meetings for next week. She then joined a meeting to set up a company wide brainstorm.

After the meeting Kim submitted her PNP profile. Then she created a template that she will use for some base questions in interviews. Kim also sent some paperwork to another new hire and ticked a few quick wins off of her to do list.

In the afternoon Kim went for a masked walk with her colleague. It was so fun and the weather was beautiful. Once she was home Kim worked on a few things for the facilities project.

Evening

We had some pizza from our favourite pizza place for dinner, once Kim got home and hockey finished.

We ate that terrific pizza, did some tidying and cleaning for the first set of viewings tomorrow and watched a bit of TV.

We topped of the evening with some wine and relaxing.

Place 72 – Day 79: Vancouver, BC – More studying & Free Starbucks!

Studying

We woke up around 11:0 but had a terrible night sleep! Neither of us could get to sleep at a good time so didn’t get many hours in, really.

We had a delicious breakfast muffin with sausage, egg & cheese in and a hash brown.

We watched a little bit of TV and then Kim tried to go outside to study but it was too bright so she couldn’t actually see the words so she went back inside.

Free Starbucks

Curtis played games for most of the day again today, until we just needed to get out of the house so we went to Starbucks for a coffee.

Curtis had a free coffee on his account so he got his for free but had to pay for Kim’s. We also got a key cut for our apartment so we don’t have to keep changing them around all the time.

Paprika Pork

We got back home and Kim studied a bit more until we got hungry.

Once we wanted food, Kim made paprika pork as the last time we had it, it was incredible.

We ate that and then watched a bit of TV until around 22:00 which is when Kim then went for a shower and got ready for going to her first aid course tomorrow.

As we didn’t sleep great last night, we decided we would sleep early as it is important to be awake tomorrow!

Place 72 – Day 53: Vancouver, BC – Teriyaki Steak Noodles

Curtis’ Day

Curtis was feeling the burn today after playing dodgeball for so long yesterday!

He got to work and had to sit for a bit to recover!

Curtis saw a message about someone needing a phone, so he found one and went and installed it on their desk.

Curtis had a lot od general tasks to do today and had to setup some laptops, but in general it was a fairly quiet day.

Curtis left the office around 16:50 and met with Kim to walk home.

Kim’s Day

Kim got into work and had some cinnamon toast crunch for breakfast before starting her day.

Kim’s morning consisted of general admin and also sending out some packages. She also had a quick phone meeting with someone in regards to the ongoing project.

At midday Kim had a training session on scheduling interviews with someone from a different office. It was great to learn the next step in the recruitment process. That way Kim can be prepared if she needs to do anything while people are away on leave.

Kim then sat upstairs on the roof to have some lunch. Its so nice to be able to get outside and sit in the sun, while being away from all the hustle and bustle from the street!

When she got back from lunch Kim had to deliver one of the packages to the courier so she set out to get that done. Kim showed great restraint as the courier is right next to a Tim Hortons and she did not buy a doughnut or a coffee. We will see how long that lasts!

Kim spent the rest of the afternoon preparing for a meeting she is putting together for her project. Making sure that the agenda is right and people are all invited.

Walk & Teriyaki Steak Noodles

We got home from work and decided to go for a walk. The weather was great and so we just wandered along speaking about our days.

Once we got back, we made steak teriyaki noodles for dinner and then watched some TV.

Not a particularly exciting day but it is already going to be Wednesday!
