Place 72 – Day 207: Vancouver, BC – Hot Tubbin’

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a busy day, mostly doing an onboard for some that starts on Monday.

As well as that, Curtis setup a couple of laptops for people to upgrade from their current laptops.

Curtis dealt with a few tickets and had a call with a team member to discuss something that someone requested as he wasn’t sure the best way to do it.

That was pretty much Curtis’ day, busy but mostly just doing the same couple of things.

Kim’s Day

When Kim got in she finished moving some of the desks and draws from one part of the office to another and she had a chat with people in a department to get then to clear their stuff away too.

She then spent some time organising the health and safety meeting email and sending that out and then she organised for a handyman to come in to sort a few things around the office next week. The morning was full of small wins!

For lunch Kim ans her colleague went out to lunch and it was so nice! They had a great catch up and finalised a few things too.
After lunch Kim saved more invoices and did some research into office appliances.

Evening

We went to the shop on the way home and had to buy a couple of things both for the apartment and for dinner.

We got home and all of a sudden it was 19:00!

We made fajitas for dinner, with chicken, pepper & onion.

They were alright, but not massively filling.

We watched some TV and then both went to the hot tub!

We got back and watched a bit more TV before heading to bed.

Place 72 – Day 200: Vancouver, BC – Board Games & Ice Cream Sundaes!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis got to work and actually had an onboard to complete, so he got that started and that took up a lot of the morning.

Just before that though, the nitro coffee people and turned up and Curtis spoke with them. They were eventually able to get it fixed! They noticed that when they had cleaned it last time, they’d tightened the taps too much and therefore it created a blockage! That now means the nitro is flowing as it should, which was a win.

Curtis did the onboard until 11:30, when he then went and played board games and had snacks with colleagues. This went on until 13:00.

Curtis used the rest of this time to get the rest of the onboarding done and setup the laptop.

This time led perfectly to the ice cream sundaes in the afternoon, which Curtis was looking forward to!

After eating that, Curtis helped a couple of people around the office with some issues, did some other tickets and then setup the desk for the new person starting Monday.

This took a while as it was being a pain, as usual.

Curtis finished up and then headed home.

Kim’s Day

Kim had an idea for a new Wiki page so she spent a lot of her day making that. She made a travel page and included information and links to hotels and other useful information that people may need all in one place!

In the morning Kim went to the Marriott for a coffee with their rep. It was great to catch up and have a talk about travel.
In the afternoon Kim dealt with a lot of emails organising the dishwasher repairs and other bits and bobs.

Cleaning & Playing Hockey Late!

Curtis got home and did all the cleaning of the apartment, taking out the recycling and cleaning/vacuuming etc.

After that, Curtis sorted his hockey equipment out, packing it away into the car and re-taping his stick.

Kim got back home and we watched some TV and made dinner!

We ate food and then left to go to Curtis’ hockey game, which starts at 22:30!

We will update about the hockey game tomorrow as it’s another late one.

Place 72 – Day 198: Vancouver, BC – Mimosas, Bloodwork & Coffee Explosion!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis got to work and did some admin as usual, and then had his daily team meeting.
After that, he tried to get the nitro coffee sorted, but after doing exactly what he does each week, it didn’t seem to work!

He ended up, throughout the day, speaking with 2 different people at 2 different companies and it was determined that the nitrogen gas may be too low for it to work, but others were working so it’s a little confusing!

During troubleshooting, Curtis managed to spray coffee everywhere, including all over his face!

Curtis had mimosas and pancakes at work around 10:00! It was fun, the pancakes were homemade and the drinks were great. Nice it chat with the few people in the office (due to the Mexico trip) and have some food and drink.

Post food and drink, Curtis helped someone with the printer, which ended up taking 45 minutes!

Curtis joined in on some games with people from his team and a team close to his. This was for an hour and then he had lunch.

After lunch, Curtis completed an onboard and did some more admin, then met Kim to go home!
Kim’s DayShortly after Kim got in the weekly shop arrived, so she organised all of that and then responded to a few emails that she missed from being out of the office on Friday. She then headed to a LifeLabs centre to let them steal some of her blood for testing. It was very easy, she was in and out within 15 minutes, even though she arrived early!

On her way back to the office Kim stopped by the Youth Centre she dropped the donations off at the other day and handed in some nappies as a colleague had a few spare that no longer fit their babies.
when she got back into the office Kim sorted through some invoices and took a look into one that she didn’t understand further. She ended up having to reach out to the travel agency to see what was going on. Towards the end of the day it became apparent that it was a fair charge, so that is good news.
Kim spent a little of her time today trying to find a venue for a summer party. She had a great idea in mind, but cannot seem to find a venue that would work at all! It’s a little frustrating, but it’ll all come together in the end. Kim also took a look into setting up a blood drive across all 5 offices, but it turns out that it’s not possible as mobile collections are not a thing and Kim just made them up.

In the afternoon Kim spent a lot of her time looking into why a letter was returned. It was rejected by the postal service due to insufficient funds to send the letter, however when Kim ran it through the system again it printed the same amount of postage. Kim called the postal service who said that the postage should easily cover the letter and that maybe it was an issue with the machine, which led Kim to have a 30 minute phone call with no new information at the end of it.

Kim ended up heading to the post office and dropping it off by hand and asking if they know why it would have been rejected and they didn’t believe that it should have been. So the letter is back in the post and Kim is just hoping it doesn’t come back in a few days!

Evening TogetherWe had a weekday evening together today, which seems rare!

Usually Kim’s out at pole or Curtis is doing something, but not tonight!

Kim went to the shop to get a few things for dinner and then made another Risotto!

We watched the film Good Boys and ate some food for the evening, with some TV thrown in there too.

Perfect!

Place 72 – Day 168: Vancouver, BC – Dogs!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis got to work and right away someone grabbed him to assist with a visitor’s guest WiFi connection.

The fix was actually not that difficult, but it took Curtis and his colleague 30 minutes to realise what the actual issue was. Curtis’ coffee went cold whilst he did this too!

This quick start to the morning threw Curtis’ day off, so it took him some time to catch up.

Curtis had an onboard to complete, but before he could do that, he had a meeting with a potential software provider, so once he was done that, he got on with the onboarding.

The laptop was an absolute pain, so that took him some time, but he finally got it done and then had some lunch.

After lunch, Curtis caught up with some ticket work and did a few other things, such as reviewing policies and also some training for some new software.

Curtis met Kim and walked home.

Kim’s Day

Kim did a lot of the Wiki project throughout the day. The other things that cropped up were amazing!

Someone brought their bermesedoodle in and he was VERY well behaved and handsome. Another lady and her husband bought her two month old in a few times throughout the day so Kim had multiple cuddles and it was brilliant!

Some catering came over lunch and it looked amazing, so Kim spent some time setting that up and putting the fridge in the meeting room.

In the afternoon Kim popped across to the shop with her colleague and they picked up some flowers and decaf coffee as the coffee is the one thing that Kim forgot to order ahead of time!

The rest of the afternoon Kim was working on the Wiki project where she sorted through lots of old information to condense it down.

Easy Dinner

We got home and Curtis watched hockey. Kim then had to go out to do her energy exchange, so she walked up there and got a hot chocolate on the way!

Kim got back home after this and we didn’t know what to eat, so we just had sweet chilli chicken with rice and dumplings.

We watched some TV and went to bed pretty early. We were both feeling sleepy today!

Place 72 – Day 162: Vancouver, BC – Roasted Peppers & Cous-Cous

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a very busy day! He did an onboard for half the day and then setup the desk for that person too.

Once he did that, and whilst he was doing that, he kept getting questions left right and centre from people, as well as tickets, so he had more than enough to for to the day.

He had a call with someone to try and get some stuff fixed for them, which he was able to!

Curtis left and was able to meet Kim at sportchek where she was returning an item.

Kim’s Day

This morning Kim worked on the Wiki project and cleared up in the office. With the Wiki Kim really made good process on the project and put together all the things she had to do! She also tried securing the shelving unit to the wall, but had no luck.
Kim sat with her colleagues for lunch. After this, Kim spent a while trying to figure out why the xbox isn’t working, but with no luck!

Then in the early afternoon went out with two people to get a hot chocolate as Vancouver is currently having a Vancouver hot chocolate festival.

Kim then placed the food order for next week and then continued the tidy up by folding up a bunch of unused, branded tops.

Roasted Peppers & Cous-Cous

We got home and Curtis got some cleaning done, whilst Kim went out to training.

Tonights class was brilliant. Kim finally nailed a move that she has wanted to do forever! Its not even a difficult move, she just couldn’t get her head around it. The main focus of the class was a beautiful and brilliant combo that Kim really enjoyed.
After class Kim went to home depot and a supermarket to get stuff for work and then dropped it off at work!

After training, Kim had some stuff to buy for work, so she went to get that and then had to also needed to do a couple of other things, all of which she got done so she was very happy with that!

When Kim got back home, we had roasted garlic and tomato cous-cous inside grilled peppers…delicious!

We ate that and then watched some TV.

Place 72 – Day 155: Vancouver, BC – What Is That In My Potato?!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis spent most of the morning doing an onboard for someone. Interestingly, they were a remote person that needs a laptop and a phone for their home.

Curtis was unsure on the process for setting up a phone for use at someone’s house, so he had to find that out.

As well as this, Curtis had to get the laptop sorted. The original plan was to get one from one of the US offices, but that plan didn’t work and Curtis didn’t have any at his office, so he had to get someone to set one up at there office and then he had to get a phone sent from yet another office.

After that, Curtis had his team meeting which was productive. Then it was lunch time.

After lunch, Curtis spent the afternoon doing a mini project which ended up taking the whole afternoon!

Kim’s Day

Kim spent most of her day doing one of 2 things, sending things via FedEx or organising travel.

Kim spent most of her morning trying to organise some group travel by reaching our to hotels and contacting the travel agent to get quotes on flights. She also arranged 2 FedEx parcels in the morning and sorted the weekly fruit.

The afternoon was much of the same, she reached out to other hotels, organised 2 more parcels. She then had to call FedEx, which is one of Kim’s least favourite things to do, as one delivery just simply never registered so she had to do it all again.
Kim also spent some time in the afternoon going through her voicemails.

She did end her day on a high and started drafting the final invites for the holiday parties.

What’s That?!

We got home and Curtis watched the remainder of the leafs game.

We made baked potatoes for dinner.

This was going well until we cut one open and there was something odd inside! It seemed like maybe a slug or something, so we didn’t eat that one and instead shared a potato.

We ate our food and watched a couple of videos and then headed to Curtis’ hockey game.

Curtis’ game went really well! They won 6-3 and Curtis finally got a point (1 assist). A very fun game!

Place 72 – Day 148: Vancouver, BC – The Tale Of The Lost Keys

Curtis’ Day

Curtis was nonstop for about 1.5 hours this morning.

When he got to work, he emptied the dishwasher and put on a pot of coffee.

A new person had started so he helped them get all setup and that took a long while!

Eventually, curtis got on with his admin and then did a few tickets, helped a few people out and did some project work.

At 11:30, he had a remote session with someone to try and fix something for them.

After this, Curtis had a team meeting, which was productive, and then he had lunch.

The whole afternoon was full of project work, which Curtis then realised there is even more to do for it!

Curtis left at 17:00 and met Kim on the way home.

Kim’s Day

Kim came on this morning to an email for catering for today so she booked that in and then started booking in a new starters travel to Vancouver for their first week.

Kim then set up catering for this Friday for both the Vancouver and the Toronto offices. She also took a fair few phone calls and answered emails throughout the day too.

The pizza than arrived 15 minutes early, again. So Kim set that up in the meeting room and then called the vendor that the last few deliveries had been arriving early, it took a few calls as Kim was hung up on instead of transferred and left on hold instead of being transferred twice.

On the third attempt the lady who helped added a fairly decent voucher to the account which is good news.

Kim then spent some time talking with her colleague about the upcoming holiday parties and they came up with a couple of potential themes and Kim was told about a good graphic design site to make the formal invitations on. So Kim tried to familiarise herself with that and had a play around on there.

Kim also cleaned and reorganised the boardroom and stocked up the stationary pack in the smaller meeting room behind reception.

The Key Quest

When we got home, we spent a while searching for Kim’s keys!

She didn’t have them all day, but remembered having them at home yesterday.

After looking for ages, we found them down the side of the sofa cushion!

We took out some recycling, cleaned down the kitchen tops and vacuumed.

We watched some TV after Kim got back from taking her dressing gown back to the store as it didn’t fit as good as she thought.

We had leftovers from yesterday for dinner, which actually tasted better than they did fresh!

We finished the night with an episode of Vikings and then off to bed we went.

Place 72 – Day 137: Vancouver, BC – A Card Tower

Curtis’ Day

Curtis wanted a break from doing the guides he spent all day doing yesterday, so he made an effort to not do any!

Instead, Curtis spent most of the day just setting up accounts and laptops for 2 new people that start on Monday.

After lunch, at 15:30 after his meeting, Curtis had a challenge to complete – building a tower from a pack of cards.

The rules were simple. Only the cards and box can be used.

Curtis was on a team with 2 others and they thought of the idea to bend the cards to use them as a structure, which is what they did.

Everyone started to follow suit but in the end, after some drama of the ‘judge’ accidentally knocking down another tower, Curtis’ team won and got tickets to do an escape room!

Curtis setup desks for the new people and completed a couple of tickets at the end of the day and then left to meet Kim and walk home.

Kim’s Day

When Kim got in she remembered that she had some fruit from the catering in the fridge, so she chopped up some more and made a nice little fruit salad. Kim then turned her attention to the drinks fridge and restocked that.

When she got back to her desk is was time to save more of the invoices. She is making good progress, but gets interrupted by the phone and other emails which disturbs the flow!

As two people were leaving to pick up their lunch they invited Kim along so she went for a nice walk with them to the shop. When they got back they all sat down for some lunch. It was so nice.

After lunch Kim took some time to rearrange her calendar for next week and warning people of thw big meeting room cleanout taking place tomorrow. She then continued on with the invoices.

Kim arranged a meeting with a colleague so she could help Kim figure out what should and shouldn’t be kept from behind at reception. She went through and organised it in to piles and then they quickly went through it together and Kim managed to organise paperwork and throw a whole lot out.

The last bit of the afternoon was continuing on with the invoices.

Back To Silks

We actually walked home together today, which is the first time in a while as Kim didn’t have to stay late.

We got home and watched some YouTube whilst Curtis had some thai curry for dinner.

Once Kim left to go to Silks, Curtis played the new Call of Duty beta!

Kim drove out to Richmond and had an open silks practice session. It felt like Kim has no muscle mass in comparison to when she left.

Kim was able to climb okay but her invert and combo moves were gross!
As a result of this, when kim got home, she went straight to the gym to focus on legs, core and flexibility. Hopefully that will help!

Kim got home and we watched some more TV and then went to sleep.

We can’t believe its Friday already!

Place 72 – Day 104: Vancouver, BC – Dean Lewis!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had plans for the morning but he had to do some tickets and some admin and before he knew it, 1.5 hours had passed!Eventually, Curtis got onto setting up a new user, their laptop and their desk. Then, it was lunch time!

After lunch, Curtis spent the whole afternoon trying to get the virtual machine to work. He concluded that it will not work, so back to square one it is.He walked up to Kim’s work to meet her there after work.

Kim’s Day

Today Kim left dor work 2 hours early as a film crew had to set up for an interview for an employee Kim works with. On the way to worm she saw a seal, so getting up so early didn’t seem too bad!
When Kim got to work she found out that the crew would he about half an hour late so she ran to McDonald’s to grab some breakfast!
When she got back she then set up an urn of coffee and a plate of biscuits and ran it up for the 25th floor and they still weren’t there. So Kim went back down and began to tackle the mess of food and drinks leftover from the day before. She started with the drinks and was able to put some in the free drinks fridge and rearrange some of the other storage to make room for the rest.
Kim then went to the roof again to see if the crew had arrived and they had, and were setting up! Which was great news. When she got back to her desk Kim went through and saved the last 3 or 4 days worth of invoices that she neglected to do and chase for a couple from yesterday.
She then spent some more time organising the food and other picnic stuff from the day before, making sure everything was boxed up and tidied away.
Kim.
Kim and her colleague set up some time to go over the summer party and how well it went. Both of them had recieved great feedback, but came up with ways to make it go easier for us for the next time. This meeting was interrupted a little with the arrival of pizza for someone elses meeting.
Once the pizza was out in the kitchen for a free-for-all Kim was sure to grab herself and her colleague some slices before the masses arrive, we refer to it as the pizza tax! Kim the spent a few minutes on the roof before getting too hot and heading back to the comfort of aircon!
After lunch Kim finally convinced herself to finish the last bit of organising and tidying up. Then she went over to FedEx to send something that had been set up the day before. It turns out that they couldn’t deliver it as it is a PO box so Kim just had a nice long walk outside instead!

When she got back Kim spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on emails.

Pasta

We went to a nice Italian place that Kim had been to before. We both got a wine and a half portion of pasta as neither of us were that hungry and their portions are huge!

Kim got the same as she had before which is pasta with a creamy sauce, mushrooms, chicken and peas. Curtis got a simple tomato pasta and they were both great!

Dean Lewis

We got to the venue that Dean Lewis was playing at and there was a huge queue all the way around the block! We queued for around 30 minutes and then in we went.

We opted for seats rather than standing and it was a pretty good call as it was a 30 minute wait before any music!

We had a supporting act first and he was actually terrific. His name is Scott Helman and he is from Toronto.

After Scott, there was a 30 minute break and then Dean Lewis appeared! It was a great set, great lightong and he sounded excellent.

There are videos on our Instagram pages!

The theatre was sold out, around 1300 people! After the few hours we were there, we left at around 22:00 and walked back home.We got some admin done and then unwound by watching a video or two on YouTube and then went to bed.

Place72 – Day 73: Vancouver, BC – Free Coffee, Forgotten Phone & Costco Run

Curtis’ Day

Curtis got to work with 5 minutes to spare and was non stop from that point on.

He had a new starter to setup as well as 2 people to offboard.

At 11:00, Curtis helped someone move desks and convert it to a standing desk. Once this was done, Curtis got bought a coffee by the lady, which was lovely!

After the coffee, Curtis had some more of the onboarding to complete and then it was lunch time.

Kim met Curtis down at a Vietnamese place near Curtis’ work as they do a great Banh Mi. We got those but because it was far from Kim’s work, she had to walk back as soon as she got it.

Curtis went back to work after lunch and continued to be busy. He had to order a lot of items as well as some software.

At 14:30 he updated the AV system in 2 rooms and checked on them periodically.

There were a lot of small issues today so Curtis spent quite a bit of time sorting those, too.

Curtis’ day finished at 17:00 and he walked to meet Kim.

Kim’s Day

As Kim was walking to work she checked to see if her phone was in her bag and found that it wasn’t! This was not the best start to the day.

When the fruit arrived Kim put it all away, she ordered a lot of different items from normal so it will be a nice change.

Someone mentioned that they couldnt find any brown sugar so Kim then spent some time sorting out the sugar! Nor exciting but everything is much easier to find now! Plus its easier to know what the stock levels are.

Kim then took some time to set up next weeks order and contact a few other vendors about some possible additional items they would like to stock!

It was a colleueges birthday on Thursday, but she was away on leave so in the late morning Kim and another colluege ran to a bakery to pick up a beautiful red velvet cake and a card! As they got in the elevators who catches the door at the last second? The birthday girl! Sods law!

When they got back upstairs the girls prepared the cake and plates to ‘surprise’ the birthday girl! They got a few people together sang happy birthday and then ate cake!

Kim sorted a few things out before heading to near Curtis’ work to meet him for lunch. Not so easy to do without a phone as they had not really discussed a time to place all that well. They eventually found each other and sat for a little while.

When Kim got back she spent most of her afternoon sorting our various different social things. She set up the agenda for the social team meeting later this week, went over a few things for the upcoming summer party and sent out an invite to a meeting next week. She also ordered some catering for next weeks meeting!

At the end of the day Kim spent some time going through her phones messages. It was not interesting and mainly consisted of the dead space before someone hangs up. There was one call where the phone was just recording background noise of people singing in an office, Kim stopped listening somewhere around the 2 minute mark.

Costco Run

We met up from work and walked down to Costco, primarily to get meat but also a few other things like cheese and a cereal.

We spent some money there and then walked back, boxs & bags in hand with all the items we bought.

Too Much Food

For dinner, we has a big chicken salad with a side of Kraft mac and cheese. Turns out it was way too much food!

We were very stuffed, so we just sat and watched Vikings in the evening.
