Place 70 – Day 36: Victoria, BC – Afternoon Tea & Goodbyes!

Packing Up

We got ourselves ready in the morning, had some breakfast, and got packed up and ready to go.

We changed the bed sheets and tidied up, as well as packed all of our stuff away.

Afternoon Tea

We took Linda for afternoon tea at 11:45.

The place seemed alright, but everything was just okay, which was pretty disappointing.

We headed back to Linda’s and hung out with her for a bit more before we had to leave and say goodbye until next time!

Leaving Victoria

We drove up to get our car cleaned at the car wash that we had bought a ticket for before but didn’t get to use on Wednesday.

We were waiting and a woman managed to make her car battery die right at the entrance to the car wash, so it took quite a while to actually get our car washed, so it was good that we left at such a good time!

We left the car wash after it was done and went to the supermarket and picked up a salad to eat on the boat.

We got onto the boat and got a pretty good spot! Masks are now mandatory again indoors, which includes the ferry, which is great!

We ate our salad and then we just relaxed. We were told there were whales, but we didn’t see them when we looked!

We got back to Vancouver and drove home, which took less time than expected.

We got back home and just did very little. Kim had a nice bath with bath salts she bought at her massage and we just relaxed.

Back to work tomorrow!

Place 70 – Day 32: Victoria, BC – Airport Pickup & Finally Seeing Linda!

We woke up at a good time, though Kim woke up early as a dog was barking constantly in the hotel and she heard that so she couldn’t get back to sleep.

We got up and ready around 10:00 and packed up the last few things, showered and then took our stuff down to the car.

After checking out, we went to grab some breakfast. We found a cafe and Curtis got a breakfast muffin and Kim got a pesto and brie toasted sandwich, along with a coffee each.

We ate our food whilst sat in the sun and then we got the car and drove to a car wash. We vacuumed the car and then tried to go to a car wash, but it was too busy so we had to head to the airport.

Somehow, Curtis managed to lose his mask during this time, so had to use a disposable one for the time being.

We met Linda in the airport as she was returning from Kelowna on a flight and we were very happy to see Linda again after what must be at least 2 years!

We had a great chat on the way home and once we got back to Linda’s place, we had more of a chat with her and then we went out to the mall to see if we could get Curtis a new mask.

We found a mask, but it wasn’t actually that great. Linda then remembered she had a perfect one lying around, so Curtis has that now instead!

We went out for dinner with Linda to a place down the road called the steamship grill, which is somewhere we had been a few times with Linda.

Curtis had a salmon burger and Kim had a Nashville chicken caesar salad. Unfortunately, Kim’s food tasted a little fishy, so she didn’t really eat much, but we did have a lot of bread and chips so she ate those!

We walked back to Linda’s and spent the remainder of the evening having a great conversation, as always with Linda!

We have some fun times planned, and lots of dinners, over the next few days.

Place 72 – Day 355: Vancouver, BC – Quiz Test & Back To Pole!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had to renew a license in the morning so had to figure out how to do that one which took some time.

Curtis then did a bunch of tickets and after that he edited a guide that needed changing.

After that, he had some lunch and then helped Kim with testing her quiz that she has made, along with Kim’s family!

The test went really well, and then Curtis did some more tickets as well as a bit of security training in the late afternoon, which everyone at the company has to complete.

Curtis then watched hockey after work was done.

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day by catching up on a few emails and adding the last few questions to her quiz.

At midday Kim had a meeting with a vendor who popped in. They went over an offer that they have, Kim and her colleague are very excited and hopeful that they can utilise this great offer!

Just after the meeting Kim hosted a game time, but no one showed! So Kim worked on the quiz for a bit.

Kim had organised a test run through of the quiz with her family She sorted out a time and then sent out an invite to her parents and sister, and Kim invited Curtis and her colleague too. It was a great test and Kim got some wonderful feedback that she can use going forward into making the other quizzes. It was also so fun! Everyone seemed to enjoy the quiz, some questions were harder than others, they were able to iron our some technical issues and just have a good catch-up too!

After the quiz and mini game test were done Kim started troubleshooting an issue she had with the audio. The problem ended up that Kim had turned the volum down on the game to stop the lobby music being too loud and didn’t turn it back up again for the sound rounds in the quiz! So that was funny and an easy fix! She also updated the quiz with some word changes and layout changes of some of the questions. She finished by starting the second UK quiz and will work on that a little more tomorrow.

Back to Pole!

Kim got home and shortly after went off to pole! She was finally going back, but obviously there are precautions, such as wearing a mask the whole time and keeping 6ft apart.

Kim loved being back at pole! She was a little nervous at first, but she had a great double lesson back, with a teacher she loves to train with. Kim didn’t manage to nail many of the moves, but she is taking it slow and understanding that her body will have lower limits than it did pre COVID and that thats okay! She will work her way back up for sure. Its also exciting as Kim now has momentum and will, hopefully, start practicing at home too!

We had a chicken salad for dinner and watched a bit of TV, once Kim got back from pole.

Place 72 – Day 273: Vancouver, BC – Last Remaining Things

We got up and had some breakfast, just some scrambled eggs and hash browns.

Curtis got to use his new Aeropress coffee maker, which was well worth it! Excellent coffee!

We then got ready for the day and headed down to the garbage disposal area and then up to our storage locker, to put a few things in there.

We then jumped in the car and drove to our old apartment to get a few things we forgot!

We picked up our cereal and some clothes we had hung up, as well as our bath mat and entrance mat.

We left there and went to Canadian Tire where Kim got some stuff for work and we also bought ourselves some cotton facemasks so we don’t have to keep using disposable ones.

We had to line up for that and then once we were done we lined up to enter the supermarket.

We got our shop done and drove back home.

Once we got home we did a few things around the apartment. We put all our clothes away and got some things moved around to the right place.

We had also listed our old bed frame for sale so were responding to people about that, too.

We made katsu curry for dinner. Most was fresh but the sauce was packaged as we bought it a while ago so had to use it.

Kim breaded the chicken and fried it and we had it with potato and onion cooked in the sauce with some rice.

It wasn’t amazing, a little bland, but next time we know what to do!

We finished that up and then watched another Middleditch & Schwartz which is a very funny improv standup comedy show.

We did that and then Kim made cookies!
