Place 72 – Day 65: Vancouver, BC – Afternoon Cocktails

Vancouver Flea Market

We wanted to go to the Vancouver flea market today to have a look around. This place was a 30 minute walk from home. The weather wasn’t great but we risked a walk anyway.

The flea market is near the train station, so we walked to there, and a little bit beyond, to get to it.

Once we got there, it looked a bit dodgy, and then there was an entry fee!

We quickly changed our minds and walked towards the city instead.

Afternoon Cocktails

We decided to stop at a place we walk past on the way to and from work for a coffee.

We went in and then realised it was a lot more fancy then we thought!

We were going to have coffee, but then we were informed it was happy hour, so we thought we better have cocktails.

Curtis got a Moscow Mule and Kim got a frozen slushy type drink which had red wine in it.

We spent a while here just chatting and then finally headed back towards home.

We had nothing planned for dinner, so we grabbed some spaghetti, mushrooms and alfredo sauce and had that along with some incredible French bagette (toasted with olive oil and balsamic) and a side salad.

We watched TV and played some games and then headed to bed at a good time.

Place 72 – Day 61: Vancouver, BC – More Apartment Items!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis’ morning started slow with a meeting he had which everyone sat in, spoke about their day and what they did over the weekend and then ended the meeting!

Curtis spent an hour setting up a paired programming station for someone and luckily after testing it, it worked perfectly!

Curtis had a few things to do and then a lot of tickets came in, as well as a request to get a lot of people to upgrade their laptops to the latest update.

Curtis helped one lady twice and was able to resolve her issues.

The afternoon was much of the same with a few tickets coming in but also Curtis had to setup a laptop which is in another office, as well as a new user account.

Curtis left the office at 16:45 as both of us needed to get home at a good time.

Kim’s Day

Kim set up the kitchen for the day and then had her breakfast. She then got on with going through emails and getting ready for the day.

Kim then had the social team meeting and her preparation the day before really paid off as the meeting went really smoothly.

Kim then got back to her desk and spent some time sourcing quotes for catering that will be happening next week.

Then Kim spent the rest of the morning on researching stuff for the office summer party and drafting up the official invite.

She then spent some time looking over and attempting to cross reference things to find the missing information. After searching in all the places she thought the information might be she had to ask for help.

Kim then went over the summer party invite with a colleague and then sent it out.

The rest of the afternoon Kim spent going through the action points from the meeting in the morning. Kim coordinated with managers to see when a social hour would best suit their teams next week and she sent out a message outlining that its clean the beaches week and set up a mini competition to encourage people to head to the beach and pick up rubbish!

More Apartment Stuff!

We got home and waited for a bit and then some people turned up with some items we had bought for the apartment from them!

We got a chest of draws, a sled (weirdly), a lamp and a small entrance table.

We were incredibly hungry so we started to make dinner.

We had egg fried rice using the leftover rice from yesterday and some vegetables. We also had some potstickers with it!

We watched Lucifer as it was at a dramatic point so we had to find out what happened at the end of the series.

Place 72 – Day 43: Vancouver, BC – Kitsilano

Walk To Kits

We woke up and had a pains au chocolat each and some strawberries.

We ate this and then spoke with Kim’s family briefly as they were at Kim’s uncle’s wedding.

We then sat down to speak with Curtis’ family, but missed them so instead we left the house and walked to Kitsilano!

Kitsilano is a very trendy, hippie and beautiful neighbourhood in Vancouver. It took us roughly 45 minutes to walk from our home across to ‘Kits’.

The weather was beautiful, with the sun beating down on us.

The majority of the walk was along the seawall, so we got to see a lot of boats and we even walked through Granville island.

Coffee In Kits

We wanted to grab a coffee so we found a coffee shop called Bean Around The World. We believe this is a chain but it smelled delicious when we walked in and it was pretty well priced as well.

Curtis got a cappucino and Kim got a caramel macchiato. Both of our drinks were delicious!

Looking For Food

We thought we would look around for something to eat, so we went to the main area in Kitsilano to get some lunch.

Unfortunately, we were unable to find anything, so we settled for a wrap and KitKat from Whole Foods instead!

Kitsilano Beach

We walked to the beach which has mountain views and lots of volleyball courts! We sat and ate our lunch and then began the walk home by the side of the beach.

We walked all the way home from there which took about another 45 minutes and we were exhausted!

Shopping

We got back home and relaxed for a bit as our feet hurt.

We then went out to do our shop for the week and didn’t really spend that much!

We came back and Kim made a really good dinner which was marinated pork with noodles and vegetables.

We finished up with dinner and watched the first episode of the new season of Black Mirror, followed by some Lucifer, as well as some ice cream and then whiskey!

Place 72 – Day 36: Vancouver,BC – Costco Card!

Costco

We had a lay in, had breakfast and then got ready to head out.

We walked up to the bank to get a statement which we need to have for Costco.

We then walked from there across the road to a Vietnamese place. We restrained ourselves from having food, but we did have a, subpar, Vietnamese coffee.

We left here and made the walk across the bridge to Costco.

We got to Costco, on a Saturday, so very busy. We got in line to get a membership and once that was done, off we went to shop! We also signed up for the credit card they have via Capital One, which has great cashback!

Curtis got a free coffee via the Nespresso stand and we also tried a few free food items.

We bought a lot of meat and cheese which were the two things we needed most and what we will save a lot of money on.

Leftovers & Salad

We had some leftovers and salad for dinner as we needed to get rid of it, but the chicken we hd was great, as well as leftover potatos and fajita filling.

Lucifer & YouTube

We sat and watched a couple of episodes of Lucifer and then broke it up with watching some YouTube videos. After this, we watched some other shows and then went to bed.

Today was productive but also relaxed. We have both had a busy week!
