Place 72 – Day 508: Vancouver, BC – A 2020 Recap

We woke up and had a super lazy morning.

We had some crepes for breakfast and watched a bit of TV before getting ourselves ready.

It was raining, so we went up to Starbucks, got a coffee and came back home.

We did a lot of laundry and other cleaning and then sat down to watch some TV and play games.

We got hungry and so Kim made some chicken burgers we saw in the cook book.

They were delicious! We had then with curly fries and a ceasar salad.

We watched Death to 2020, which is on Netflix and it’s a satirical recap of 2020, which was funny!

We watched some more TV after this and then headed to bed.

Place 72 – Day 480: Vancouver, BC – Finishing A Book & Playing Card Games

We woke up a little later today, because, Sunday!

We had cinnamon buns for breakfast again and had a pretty lazy day overall.

We got some housework done throughout the day, some laundry and we did the dishes and we did some vacuuming.

We went out to get ourselves a coffee and then came right back home as it was very gross outside!

Kim managed to finish a book she was reading in the morning and when we got back from getting our coffee, we played a bunch of games! We started with Connect 4 and then played some card games. We do enjoy playing some physical games from time to time.

Kim then made a chicken katsu curry which took some time but was delicious!

We watched a bit of TV and some YouTube videos and then Kim had a nice relaxing bath before bed.

Place 72 – Day 472: Vancouver, BC – Big Chillin’

We woke up around 10:30 and Kim made some incredible crepes!

We watched some TV whilst eating and then got ourselves ready.

Kim ready a bit of a book to relax for a bit and then we went out for some coffee!

We went to a place we didn’t even know existed about 5 minutes from our apartment which is called Angus T.

Whilst we went for coffee, they also make European croissants, so we had to try them! Curtis got a standard butter croissant and Kim got a pain au chocolate.

We really, really enjoyed the croissants and the coffee was pretty good too, all in all, a successful stop.

We did our usual walk to the beach, but there were quite a lot of people walking around there, so we left and headed back home.

Kim got some more incredible sunset photos, though!

Other than that walk, we did very little. We got some laundry done, and we had a nice nap and then it was dinner time!

We had excellent homemade mac and cheese and watched the animated Grinch film, which we quite enjoyed, and it was nice and short.

We played some games and did some more laundry, as well as watching some more TV.

Place 72 – Day 458: Vancouver, BC – The Start of Christmas Things

We woke up pretty late today and had some cinnamon buns for breakfast whilst watching some TV.

We got ourselves ready and then did a bunch of housework, getting some laundry done, replacing the bed sheets and some vaccuming.

We went out for a coffee late afternoon and short walk, as far away from people as we could.

We got back home and played some games and then we went out to the supermarket in the evening to get our weekly shop.

The shop was quite large, but we have some really nice meals planned for the week!

We got home and made some potato and chicken with BBQ sauce and cheese along with a side salad and garlic bread. A big mix of random stuff but pretty tasty!

We then watched a Christmas film (kinda) called Holidate and then a Christmas TV show based in Norway and in Norwegian, which was most of the reason we are watching it!

Place 72 – Day 410: Vancouver, BC – Preparing For Hockey

We woke up a little later than yesterday with the plan of doing very little today, which we achieved.

We had some easy breakfast and watched a bit of TV, then we got ourselves showered and ready for the day.

We did a lot of laundry, took out the recycling and Curtis brought up his hockey stuff as his first game is on Wednesday!

We went out to take the recycling down and then we went out to the shop.

We did our shop and we were incredibly hungry after, so we chucked a baked potato on for each of us to have and that took an hour to cook.

Whilst that was cooking, Kim marinaded some chicken in homemade curry, so we can have that tomorrow as a nice curry!

Curtis retaped his hockey stick for the first time in a very long time and he also sorted out his hockey bag and got that all ready to go.

Kim made some cookies too, right before dinner was ready.

We ate our dinner and watched some TV for the evening as well as played some games together.

Place 72 – Day 323: Vancouver, BC – Sun, Ice Cream & Lemon Drizzle!

Chat

We had a chat with Curtis’ family eight when we woke up!

It was great to catch up with them and see what they’d been up to and their plans for the next little while, as well as update them on us.

Sun & Ice Cream

The weather was so nice today that we went out for a bit, but first, we did a shop.

Once we finished the shop and unpacked it, we went out for a walk around the area and popped into Yaletown Gelato for an ice cream!

We each got one scoop, Curtis got dark chocolate and Kim got salted caramel.

Our ice creams were perfect, and we walked around the seawall on what felt a lot like a ‘normal’ weekend day, which was odd.

We stopped in to get a cold coffee each from Starbucks and then walked back home.

More Games & Lemon Drizzle

We got home and played some more games, which we are really enjoying doing now, and then it was probably a good time to do some laundry and make dinner.

We had a jar of carbonara sauce to use up so we had chicken and mushroom carbonara for dinner.

As well as making that, Kim made a lemon drizzle cake as well as some small lemon drizzle cakes, too.

We watched some TV and played some more games for the rest of the evening, but overall had a really great day and weekend!

Place 72 – Day 199: Vancouver, BC – Jurassic Park, Margaritas & Nachos

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had to leave home an hour earlier this morning to get a scan. This was to see his wisdom teeth in 3D to check if they are touching the nerves. This will determine how they’ll need to be removed.

This only took 10 minutes, so Curtis stopped off at Mario’s for a coffee and then headed to work.

Curtis got to work and played games with his team for an hour as ‘team building’.

Curtis got the nitro canister swapped out for the coffee but it still didn’t work, so he got in contact with the company who are sending someone out.

After this, Curtis had some tickets to do and then there was a meeting in which Curtis was the Business Analyst, gathering information from a team lead with regards to the project he is working on.

After that, he watched Jurassic Park with a few people in the boardroom and had nachos and margaritas!

After this, it was very quiet, so Curtis did some training to wrap the day up.

Kim’s Day

Today Kim started her day by moving a TV from one meeting room to another.

However the TV does not actually fit on the new wall properly, so in reality Kim has moved a TV from a wall to the floor!

She then had her weekly 1:1 with her teammate and they went over all the questions that Kim had written up over the week. They also then did a quick walk around to discuss a few things that they want to change around the office. It was a good successful meeting.

The rest of Kims day was filled with quick wins! She fixed the dishwasher and a table, reached out to handymen, the dishwasher repair company and she reached out to the building about recycling a bunch of stuff!

In the early afternoon, Kim had a meeting with a car rental company which was quick and went well. She then also had another catch up with the cleaners and building management and they went over a few things too.

Evening

Curtis did some laundry and a few things around the apartment and then played games whilst waiting for Kim to come home.

Kim got home but left fairly quickly after to go to pole.

Kim’s first class was great! One of her favourite teachers is back and then after Kim went to open pole to work on her routine. She is making genuinely good progress, but the routine is far from finished!

Curtis watched the leafs game which was on later today, at 19:30.

Kim got back home from pole and we watched a little bit of TV but went to sleep pretty early.

Place 72 – Day 180: Vancouver, BC – New Glasses For All! 👓

Curtis’ Day

After Curtis got to work, he got an email stating that his new glasses had shipped! He wasn’t expecting them for a week, so this was great news!

Curtis got his glasses and was very happy with them. He did need to get them slightly adjusted, though.

Curtis did some ticket work and throughout the day he continued trying to do something he was doing on Friday (it still didn’t work).

Curtis also had to do an onboard in the afternoon for someone that starts on Wednesday as they are an urgent temp.

Curtis continued to fight with the thing he couldn’t get to work on Friday and then decided just to log a support ticket with the company instead as that’s far easier.

Kim’s Day

Kim went in early to be sure she was there when the grocery shopping arrived and then it arrived just after 9! At least she had an hour to get things done! She put the shopping away and then continuted working on the floor plan for another office. Kim was really struggling with getting the shapes right, so she ended up copying the floor plan into the drawing thing and copying over it using the tools in the software! It turned out really great!

Kim also worked on some business cards for someone who is in town and tried making a Vancouver 2010 Olympics highlight reel on PowerPoint. After a while she gave up with this idea and then went to make a playlist to find that other people have already done it. So Kim plans to now just use the other already made!

After lunch Kim sorted some paperwork for a course she will be taking in a few weeks and continued on the floor plan. Its coming along nicely and is now at roughly 80% completion, which is great!

After work Kim popped back to the opticians and picked out some glasses!

New Glasses for All!

Curtis met Kim at the optometrist and helped her pick out some glasses. Eventually, we got a pair that looked good and got them ordered.

Right after that, Curtis got his glasses adjusted and away we went! Very successful.

We walked back home right from there.

We watched some TV whilst Kim had something light for dinner and then she went off to training.

Curtis had some sweet chilli chicken with rice and vegetables and played some games whilst also doing some laundry.

Kim got back home fairly late, so we got ready for tomorrow and headed to bed, after a brief bit of TV to relax.

Place 72 – Day 144: Vancouver, BC – Snow Prepared!

Snow Prepared

We got up and out fairly quickly this morning, to try and get ourselves prepared with snow clothes!

We plan to go skiing/snowboarding, so we needed to make sure we had the right clothing.

We started about a 20 minute walk from our house at a store called Sport Junkies.

This place is mostly a used sporting goods store, but it has been recommended to us by a few people so we checked it out.

Curtis successfully found some trousers for the snow, and pretty fast, but Kim was unable to find anything.

We left here and went to Winners to see if Kim could find anything for herself, which she did! She got some white Superdry snow trousers.

After this success, it certainly seemed that we deserved a reward, so we sat in Starbucks with a coffee for a bit.

After this, we did a larger shop at the supermarket as we needed a few general items that we don’t purchase too often.

We got these and then headed back home.

Homemade Thai Green Curry

Once we got back, it was time to make dinner!

Kim made a Thai green curry, which was terrific!

We ate this, watched some TV, did some laundry and cleaned the bathroom…because fun Sunday things!

Place 72 – Day 216: Vancouver, BC – Sunday Brunch (Again) & 1 Hour Massage

Brunch

Kim went right out this morning for brunch.

She was meeting a friend from pole, who suggested they have lunch.

Kim and her friend went to Milestones for their brunch as it was meant to be well priced and nice.

Kim had French toast and thought it was just ok.

Shopping & Coffee

Once Kim was finished with brunch, Curtis met her at the shop to help with doing the shop.

We rewarded ourselves with a coffee at Starbucks before heading back home.

Massage

Kim went out again shortly after as she had a massage booked so she could relax after all of the party stress.

Kim’s massage was an hour long and exactly what she needed.

Once Kim got back home, we did some laundry and then had some food.

Curtis had the same as yesterday, tortellini with a homemade tomato sauce, and Kim had a tuna tuna potato.

We then finished the night by watching the film 6 Underground. This was a silly, funny film, but we actually quite enjoyed it, even though the story is a little confusing at first.
