Place 72 – Day 406: Vancouver, BC – More Driving Practice

Curtis’ Day

Curtis spent most of his morning trying to get some email issues sorted. These issues were noticed yesterday and Curtis really wanted to get this sorted.

Curtis spent a while getting that sorted and had to get a bunch of people involved, but it seems to be resolved now, which is excellent!

Whilst working on this, Curtis also had a team meeting.

After the team meeting, he was still working with others on the email issues.

There was a large informative meeting and then Curtis had some lunch.

After lunch, Curtis got a lot of tickets completed and then he was done for the day.

Kim’s Day

Kim decided to be lazy today! She had a slow morning saving jobs to apply to. Then in the early afternoon she applied to a couple that really interested her. She received a couple of rejection emails, so at least thats two responses!

In the afternoon Kim planned on going out for a walk to the beach and go via the insurance place to get information about adding curtis to the insurance. She was then able to just add Curtis to the insurance so she did that and took the paperwork home and then waited for Curtis to finish work so they could go together.

Beach Walk & More Driving Practice

When Curtis finished work, we went out for a walk along the beach. It wasn’t too busy which was nice and the weather was just perfect.

When we got back home, after what was around 1.25 hours, we had some leftovers from yesterday and then relaxed and watched some TV.

After that, at around 20:45, we went out in the car so Curtis could practice driving up to the ice rink.

It felt pretty good for Curtis actually and he feels pretty comfortable driving here now, though we may do another drive just because why not.

We got back home and relaxed for the remainder of the evening.

Curtis’ Day

Curtis did some tickets in the morning along with some admin.

After that, he had a team meeting to discuss a specific issue and then he did some work with regards to that.

After lunch, Curtis had another chat with his team about a few other issues and helped working on that too.

The afternoon was a little quiet but he got a few things completed.

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day by organising a few of the hoodie requests. Then she had to call UPS as she wasnt able to access her billing account, they walked Kim through how to make some changes and then it all worked perfectly. So Kim reuploaded the invoices she was missing and finally finished her expenses.

For the rest of the morning Kim worked on her presentation for the office layout she wanted to propose to her manager. She took photos of her prototype desk layout, the Megadesk, and added some information.

She then hosted a game time, played one game of connect four and then had to leave the call! She left everyone else with the website and how to set it up, so she hopes they continued playing!

After a chat with her colleague Kim decided to draw up a floorplan that shows how the desk layout would work across the whole office. She thinks she made it pretty well and close to scale. Then she updated her presentation and the wiki with some more information.

To finish the day Kim joined a team meeting where they went over communications that will be going out over the coming days and weeks. This is also where Kim put forward the Megadesk idea and it got approved! So now Kim and her colleague have a lot of work coming up just for this, but its a good and interesting challenge.

Evening

Kim went off to pole dancing once she got right home.

The classes today were great fun! In the first class Kim tried a few new moves. One she was able to get eventually and the other Kim wasnt so confident on. She tried it a few times, but has it logged as one she needs to work on a bit more. In the second class Kim struggled with the first half of the combo, but was really able to enjoy the second half. While she enjoyed the first few moves, she couldn’t quite figure them out!

Both classes were amazing and Kim is loving being back at pole!

Once Kim got back home, we had soy & lemon chicken which Curtis marinaded during the day.

We watched some TV and relaxed but didn’t have too much time as Kim got home a bit late after pole.

Curtis’ Day

Curtis did some tickets after his usual admin today, and then had his team meeting.

The team meeting lasted a little longer than usual, but was productive.

After that, there was a bit of an incident for the Vancouver office in which no one there could reach certain websites, so Curtis and the team had to investigate.

It turns out that the issue was out of their control, but they were able to switch a few things around to resolve it.

Once that issue was resolved, Curtis had some lunch and then a big meeting happened after, which Curtis was in, too.

After that, the issue that happened earlier seemed to come back, so Curtis had to fight with that until the end of the day.

Kim’s Day

Kim started the day by taking her social call from home, she spoke with a new starter and someone from the Vancouver office.

On the way into the office Kim picked up individually boxed cookies as someone is leaving at the end of the week, so his team wanted to do something nice!

When she got in the office Kim worked on the communication drafts for employee visitors and team meetings in the office. She is working with a couple of colleagues to get the wording and message right!

Kim hosted a games a games call in the early afternoon, but one person joined so they cancelled it and she helped set up the cookies. Everyone stood very far apart in the office, ate a cookie and hung out to say goodbye to the guy leaving and it was really lovely!

Kim had a quick meeting with Tennant services where they took a look around the office and discussed a few things. After this Kim helped her colleague word some questions for a survey and did a test run of the questions too.

For the rest of the afternoon Kim worked on the games for the summer parties She got a fair few things sorted and was able to make a few notes of things she would like to include in some of the other games!

On the way home Kim posted some mail and had a look in a couple of shops for some things she is looking to buy. Unfortunately nothing caught her eye so Kim started to head home. She then had the genius thought that it is so hot that cooking would be a bad idea, so she picked up a pizza!

Evening

We watched some YouTube videos whilst eating dinner and then we played some mini golf, which Curtis was not good at at all.

We then played some Grounded again, and got a little further. Curtis then played some games and Kim watched some TV before we headed to bed.

Place 72 – Day 333: Vancouver, BC – Email Issues!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a busy start to the day as there were some issues with Microsoft Outlook.

Curtis had to find out what was happening from the users and eventually from Microsoft.

Curtis dealt with this and then had a team meeting.

Once that meeting was done, he was looking at Google accounts throughout the company and removing any that could be removed as well as organising the grouping and ensuring that everything was correct there.

He did this throughout most of the day.

Curtis had a project meeting in the afternoon which was very positive.

Kim’s Day

Kim worked from home for some of the morning and started the day by hosting the mid week catch up before joining this months health and safety committee meeting. Both meetings went really well!

Once Kim was in the office she started working on communications that will go out over rhe coming weeks. She would take breaks when she couldn’t figure out what else was needed by tearing apart the few remaining notebooks to recycle and shred. Kim also had a quick call with a colleague to discuss one of the communications, just to get a second opinion.

In the mid afternoon Kim and two friends went out to get a vietnamese coffee! It was so lovely to get out in the sun and have a delicious coffee!

When she got back Kim took some time out from communications to update the maps on the Wiki. Then she went back to continue writing.

Kim finished the day by having a great big catch up with a friend that went well into the evening. It was so lovely to sit down and just chat!

Yet Another Walk

Kim got home fairly late and we had the same dinner as yesterday.

We watched a little TV and then went out for a nice evening walk again, and chatted about each of our days.

We got back home and played some virtual mini golf and then Kim watched some of the office and Curtis played some games.

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a very irritating day today.

He had the zoom webinar and then after that he spent most of the morning doing computer checkups. Most of this should be able to be done without even contacting the users, but for some reason Curtis’ laptop was being a pain, so it meant he had to contact each user and either get them to do some things or have a Zoom call with them and do it for them.

After lunch, Curtis had a couple of tickets to do and then had a long Zoom call with someone to try and get an issue fixed, but unfortunately he wasn’t able to get anywhere with it, other than ruling out possible fixes, so it’s back to the drawing board.

Kim’s Day

Kim took the mid week catch up call from home and today it was just her and one other person, but someone she had not met before! So it was great to meet them and say hello.

Once she was in the office Kim started on peeling the signs off the bin doors and removing all the loose tape too. She then organised the new bins and put the signs above them.

Kim had a call from a vendor who she is waiting on a response from to tell her that they haven’t done anything but are going to. Which seemed like a total waste of time, especially given that they had been calling multiple times a day just to give that message.

In the early afternoon Kim had a jackbox game planned, but only one person joined so they had a quick chat. For the afternoon Kim continued to reorganise the office. She emptied more drawers, removed some tables and tagged desks that IT need to look at tomorrow. It was a long but good and successful day.

Towards the end of the afternoon Kim wrote up a to do list for herself and IT for tomorrow.

A Relaxing Bath

Once Kim got home, Kim decided to head to the pharmacy down the road to get some drain unblocker for our bath as it has been getting more and more blocked.

Once she got that and came back, she had a nice long relaxing bath which was just what she needed.

We then made a veggie stir fry for dinner, but we ended up not having enough noodles for 2 people, so we had sweet & sour chicken with rice and vegetables and Curtis will have the stir fry for lunch tomorrow.

We watched some TV and then went to bed. Nice, simple & relaxing evening.
