Place 72 – Day 954: Vancouver, BC – A Weird Feeling Day

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a pretty productive day, getting a lot of tickets done and he had just one meeting, too, so not much of his day was taken up with meetings.

He had a surprise onboard to get done, so he did that just before lunch, and then after lunch was a little quieter but still some tickets and messages to deal with.

The day felt a little weird for us both, as it was the first day working in 4 days, so we both felt odd!

Kim’s Day

Kim had a busy day today, she had a lot of meetings and was able to get a few things done during the evening. She started with a meeting about business cards and then went into a meeting to discuss next steps with candidates for a role.

She had a quick check in with her new teammate before having a meeting with a different teammate about a new social activity they will be organising.

To finish the morning Kim joined her team meeting, then to start the afternoon a couple of her teammates joined a call to go over their HR system, assign access levels and do a tour of the platform.

She had a check in with a new employee before helping her team by answering questions for them to build the org chart. To finish the day Kim had a couple of calls to help with planning for a conference and then she popped out to pick up a laptop. She got a good amount of admin done in the evening too!

Evening

We took out the recycling and we did the vacuuming as well as a few other things around the apartment.

We had cheese for dinner, fairly late, and watched a little TV.

Place 72 – Day 890: Vancouver, BC – Homemade Cappuccinos

Cappucinos

For breakfast, we had croissants we bought yesterday, but also homemade cappuccinos which were delicious!

Kim is excellent at steaming the milk correctly, so we really enjoyed our fancy coffee for the morning.

Longer Walk Than Normal

We had no plans today and the weather was lovely, so we went for a nice long walk. W

We walked down the seawall, as usual, but we also went through to 2 different beaches and through the park, which was less busy, beautiful and just overall very nice!

Thai Green Curry

We did a bit of housework once we got back home and then made a chicken Thai green curry! It was delicious though we do like it a little spicier.

Bath

Kim had her usual weekly bath in the evening and then we relaxed together. Kim is off work for the week, so she is excited to relax a little, though she will likely do some work still.

Place 72 – Day 564: Vancouver, BC – Boxes

We woke up at a good time and had a chat with Curtis’ family.

We did that for about an hour then made ourselves some breakfast.

We got ready and did some laundry as well as some other house work.

Once we did that, we went out for a nice walk and grabbed a coffee.

We walked back home and then played some games for a bit, before heading out to buy some second hand cardboard boxes to use for our move!

We got the boxes and then right to do the shop for the week, which was just a small one.

We got home and Kim made sticky chicken thighs with a nice fresh salad and leftover coconut rice from last night!

Kim then had a bath and relaxed whilst Curtis played games before we reconvened together and watched some TV for the remainder of our Sunday night.

Place 72 – Day 550: Vancouver, BC – Busy Sunday!

We woke up around the same time as yesterday, with really no plan.

It was meant to rain all day, so we didn’t think we would get out for a walk, but the weather wasn’t bad so we went out!

Before that, though, Kim ran out and got us a croissant each for breakfast and a coffee and we chilled out for a while.

We did a bit of laundry and got ourselves ready, then left.

We got a coffee and just walked and talked for way longer than we planned to, but it was nice and wasn’t actually too cold outside.

We got back home and watched a bit of TV for a bit, as well as doing some more laundry and house work.

We had another apartment in the building to view, so we did that and then went right to do our weekly shop.

We got the shop done and got back home, fairly hungry! Kim made a really nice white wine chicken pasta which was perfect.

We took out the recycling after dinner and then we watched a bit of TV before Kim had a nice relaxing bath.

Place 72 – Day 544: Vancouver, BC – Hand Delivery & New Ski Pants!

The snow had all but gone this morning, which was fast but we were pretty okay with that.

We got up and had some crepes for breakfast.

Once we finished breakfast, Curtis got ready and planned to deliver the equipment for the new hire that he collected from the office yesterday.

Unfortunately, the lady wasn’t available, so we got ready to go for a walk instead.

Kim got her work permit submitted this morning, which is an excellent step forward !

We walked to get a coffee anf then had a short walk around the seawall. The wind was very cold on our ears, for some reason we didn’t expect that!

We got back home and had to wait a while for the elevators. Curtis then walked to the person’s apartment building to drop off the equipment. Unfortunately, they were not home, so he took it home and they said they would pickup instead.

Curtis watched hockey while he waited for them to confirm they were arriving and then once they did, Kim was already going out so she met them downstairs to hand deliver them the equipment.

Once she did that, Kim then went to a thrift store and found a great pair of ski pants as she used hers the other day and they seemed a little too tight.

She got these for just $15 which seemed cheap, but they’re a really good brand!

She checked a few other stores for gloves but had no luck, so she came back home.

Kim then took some stuff down to the storage and brought up some stuff from there, too.

Once she got back, she got some housework done and then made dinner.

Curtis finished watching hockey and then also got some further housework done.

We ate our delicious veggie bolognese and watched some TV for the rest of the night.

Place 72 – Day 458: Vancouver, BC – The Start of Christmas Things

We woke up pretty late today and had some cinnamon buns for breakfast whilst watching some TV.

We got ourselves ready and then did a bunch of housework, getting some laundry done, replacing the bed sheets and some vaccuming.

We went out for a coffee late afternoon and short walk, as far away from people as we could.

We got back home and played some games and then we went out to the supermarket in the evening to get our weekly shop.

The shop was quite large, but we have some really nice meals planned for the week!

We got home and made some potato and chicken with BBQ sauce and cheese along with a side salad and garlic bread. A big mix of random stuff but pretty tasty!

We then watched a Christmas film (kinda) called Holidate and then a Christmas TV show based in Norway and in Norwegian, which was most of the reason we are watching it!

Place 72 – Day 152: Vancouver, BC – Plenty More Snow

Snow

We woke up to even more snow this morning. This was cool, except for the fact the bridge we walk on was completely frozen so we had to walk carefully on the way to work.

Curtis has had quite a bad cold since yesterday, so the -8 temperature didn’t help on the way to work!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis continued to feel rotten all day, but did get a lot done. He fixed a couple of other migrations that were causing him problems, so he got those completed.

He also got a lot of tickets done and had a team meeting.

At 16:00, Curtis left the office to head home and relax as he really wasn’t feeling great.

Kim’s Day

Kim caught up on emails from the weekend and saved a few invoices to start her day.

Just before 10 Kim headed out to look for mini wine glasses and a few bottles of bubbly for a celebration in the morning. When she got back she set it up and all the offices in the company celebrated! It was a really fun morning!

Kim then spent some of her morning trying to.fix an issue with someone’s profile on the travel booking site. After that she had to sort out the postage machine, which also required her calling for support for that!

After both of these Kim ran a raffle to win one of two broken full espresso coffee machines! To ensure fairness Kim had someone else draw out the names, which was lucky as one of her colleagues won!

Kim then spent some time remaking the floor plan as it didn’t save from last time.

She then had a chat with a colleague from a different team in regards to their desk set up, so Kim made a few adjustments and spent some time researching other things that may be able to help!

On the way home Kim stopped at a few shops, one was to pick up some essential oils to put into the humidifier to help Curtis with his cold!

Weekly Clean!

We did our weekly clean this evening, after Kim got home from doing a bit of shopping.

Kim then made a veggie bolognese which was excellent.

We watched some TV and Curtis relaxed and slept at a good time with hopes that he’ll be better tomorrow as he has a hockey game!

Place 72 – Day 44: Vancouver, BC – Homesense Haul

Family Chats

We woke up and had our pain au chocolat with strawberries for breakfast and then got showered.

We started by speaking with Curtis’ family who were enjoying their time in their new hot tub! It was great to catch up and the chat lasted for just over an hour.

After this, Curtis wanted a coffee and the coffee cart wasn’t near our house today, so Curtis walked up to Starbucks to get drinks for the both of us.

Whilst Curtis was getting drinks, Kim spoke with her family and shortly after Curtis arrived back they finished their conversation.

Homesense

We walked up together to Homesense as we had some things we wanted to get.

We ended up leaving after over an hour with quite a bit of stuff, but most of it required.

What wasn’t required was our new beautiful clock, but at $23 it was a bargain!

We got back home and unpacked our goodies…We got some things like towels and some items for the kitchen as well as a few other things.

Dinner

We did a lot of housework and general tidying and then got hungry, so we walked to the Irish pub just down the road.

We got there and checked out the menu but it wasn’t great, so we gave up with that and walked to Uncle Fatih’s Pizza, which we had seen as it looked (and smelled) terrific.

we got a couple of pizzas, one make your own and also a BBQ chicken.

Rating:- 8.5/10

We ate our pizza at home in front of the TV with a beer…A perfect Sunday night!

We watched quite a bit of TV and then got ready for work, followed by sleeping at a reasonable time.

Place 49 – Day 316: Auckland – We Did Nothing

Curtis woke up at 08:30 and couldn’t get back to sleep so he stayed awake.

Kim woke up at 10:45 and we chilled out until 12:00 which is when the Leafs game started, so Curtis watched that and Kim went out to get breakfast supplies.

Kim made a breakfast bagel with hash browns. Along with this, we had a coffee made from the ground beans we bought at our favourite coffee shop yesterday. The ratios we made the coffee with were a little off, but it was still delicious!

After hockey finished, we did some housework. We vacuumed, ironed and cleaned the bathroom.

When we finished doing housework, we just chilled out and watched some YouTube videos before we got hungry and made dinner.

We marinated some thin steak strips with salt, pepper and balsamic and had that with a salad and kumara. It was all fabulous!

Other than doing that, we did nothing all day and it was perfect!
