Place 72 – Day 1: Vancouver, BC 🇨🇦 – Small Studio

Morning Travel

We were up earlier then we have been this morning, around 07:30, so we could get showered and grab some breakfast before we had to leave.

Once we ate, we checked out of the wonderful hotel, which We have loved being in, and walked down to the bus station.

Bus Journey #1 – Victoria > Ferry

We got on our bus and had a 40 minute journey to the ferry port.

We waited for about 10 minutes and then got onto the boat.

Ferry Journey

We got off the bus and grabbed some seats for the short ferry ride and relaxed before we had to hop back onto the bus.

Bus Journey #2 – Ferry > Vancouver

We got off the ferry and onto the bus for a 50 minute drive to downtown Vancouver.

City View From The Bus

We eventually arrived and walked the 10 minutes to the apartment where we met the host.

Our Studio

We got the keys to the apartment and went to take a look. It is very small, but it is pretty good for what we need it for.

View From The Studio

We got hungry so we went out to get a Subway for lunch.

Lunch

We ate our subway and got aquainted with our apartment as well as watched some YouTube videos.

Afternoon

We watched the Leafs game and once that was done, we went out to the supermarket to get some supplies for dinner.

Evening

We got back and started making a delicious spaghetti bolognese.

The apartment owner came by with a few requested items and then we sat and watched TV whilst we ate and then next thing we knew, it was 23:30!

Tomorrow should be more adventurous!

Place 70 – Day 22: Victoria, BC – Free Chocolate Tasters & Korean Food

Morning

We had breakfast and then got ready for the day.

Kim spoke with her sister in the morning and then we watched some TV and videos.

Free Chocolates

We went downtown for a walk and to ask a question regarding our phone contract, too.

We went to a few chocolate shops to have a look around and also had some free chocolate tasters, which was a bonus!

We got a burger king for lunch as we wanted to see if we like it at all…Turns out, it was pretty nice.

We went back to the hotel and relaxed for a bit more before dinner.

Korean Chicken

We had some Korean chicken for dinner at a Korean pub.

We had sweet chilli chicken, creamy cheese corn & sweet and sour pork.

Our dinner was great, but a bit too much, so we took some leftovers with us.

Place 70- Day 21: Victoria, BC – The Perfect Bed

Sleep In

We got to sleep in and got a great 8 or so hours of sleep last night.

The bed we have in the hotel is incredibly comfortable so it was hard to get up!

In case you did not see yesterday, it turns out the room is a suite, with a living area, dining table and small kitchenette, so lots of room.

Breakfast

We headed downstairs for our free breakfast, which we got to for around 10:30, 30 minutes before it closed.

There was a buffet and Kim was even able to make pancakes!

Along with waffles, we had bacon, eggs, sausage, coffee, juice, fruit, cereal, toast & pastries available to us!

We finished up breakfast and headed back to the room.

The Relaxing

We did very little during the first part of the day. We watched some TV in bed and just completely relaxed.

Laundry

We went to a laundromat and got our clothes washed before walking back to the hotel and hanging them up to dry.

Curtis then watched hockey for a bit whilst Kim walked to Linda to meet her and bring her to our hotel.

Dinner

We went downstairs to the pub attached to our hotel for dinner.

Curtis had a chicken pot pie and Kim had a turkey roast. Both meals were pretty good, but nothing incredible.

Warming Up

After dinner, we walked Linda back to her place and went in to warm up and chat some more. We were there for a good amount of time and then braved the cold again.

We went to get ice cream and some drinks from the shop just down the road and then went back to the hotel room.

Lego Movie & TV

We settled in and watched the logo movie with ice cream and then watched some TV for the whole evening…It was perfect!

Place 49 – Day 377: Auckland – Complimentary Upgrade

We woke up at 07:00 to get the car packed up and head off on the road to Auckland.

We were in the car for a couple of hours and then stopped just past Hamilton where we met the family we met up with in Rotorua.

We checked out their place and had a drink and snack whilst chatting away. Lovely piece of land they have!

After a couple of hours, we got a move on and drove to Auckland, but not before a brief stop at a recommended ice cream shop where there were huge ice cream scoops!

We got back on the road for the remaining 45 minutes and headed to our hotel. Kim booked a nice hotel for us to lounge in for a couple of days before her parents leave the country. We got to the hotel and brought in everything from the car and we then checked in. When checking in, we were given a complimentary upgrade on each room, which was perfect!

We checked out the rooms and put our bags in and then jumped back in the car and went to Takapuna for some lunch. We stopped at Nam Nam first for a Banh Mi and then went to Tok Tok for a Vietnamese coffee.

Post lunch, we drove to our former apartment and got all of our bags and put them in our car.

We drove to the hotel again to drop our car off and then Kim and Tom took the rental car back as required.

We got back to the hotel and got some items packed and then all sat together and watched the film Unbreakable.

We left after watching the film to find some dinner.

We wanted a Japanese noodle box but our usual place was closed, so we kept walking. Kim noticed a hidden place that has delicous sounding Japanese food.

Once we found the entrance, it was beauitful and looked like Japan!

We ordered a smorgasbord of food, each of us getting chicken katsu curry but we got tempura prawns and chicken karage for the table. It was excellent Japanese food and very authentic.

We left here and walked back to our hotel, with a beautiful view of the city.

We got back to the hotel and headed right to bed.
