Place 72 – day 139: Vancouver, BC – Tiny Patisserie

Morning Workout

We were up around 09:00 and Kim decided she wanted to go and do some exercise, so headed down to the studio for 10:00.

Whilst she was there, Curtis had some breakfast, a coffee and played some games.

A Tiny Patisserie

When Kim got back, we were still hungry for some food, so we walked for about 20 minutes to get to a patisserie which had great ratings.

The patisserie was called L’atelier Patisserie and it was beautiful! Just 4 tables in total (two outside and two inside) and it was weirdly in an industrial estate.

It was clearly a busy place as it had run out of several items by the time we got there, but there was still enough for us to have.

We were very excited to have a croissant, and they didn’t disappoint!

Kim had a double chocolate croissant a Curtis had a standard, plain, one.

The croissants were incredible! flaky, yet buttery!

The coffees weren’t great, but tasty enough!

Place 72 – Day 135: Vancouver, BC – Galaxy Watch!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis’ day was filled with project work and meetings. He had a brief moment where there was no meeting, but he then had to join one!

Curtis got a lot of more of his project work sorted as well as some tickets.

During the day, Curtis received the gift he bought for himself.. a Galaxy Watch!

Curtis has been having a great time playing with the watch and loves the look of it!

Curtis walked home (in the rain) and when he got home, he spent far too long playing on his new watch!

Kim’s Day

Kim did have catering to be in early for this morning so she got to work for 8 and the catering was already there! So she got to work setting the other drinks up and collecting the last few snacks.

As she had ordered a cake for her office for this week she also had to order a cake for one of the other offices so Kim spent some of the morning organising that and finalising a few peoples travel plans.

When the catering arrived for lunch Kim got more drinks ready and plated up a nice selection of veggies to go with it all. Once it was all set up Kim popped out to post some letters and exchange one of the things Kim bought for Curtis yesterday.

When she got back, she cleared away the lunch stuff, refreshed some drunks and the coffee and then sat down for some lunch.

After lunch Kim spent most of her afternoon going through invoices that she had not saved since the 3rd of September. On the 4th, she received 14 in a matter of hours so it all went out of the window and she is now just finding the time to claw back at it all. Kim also put some fruit, snacks and more drinks into the meeting room around mid afternoon.

Later in the afternoon, Kim was saving an invoice and noticed that well over half had vanished. Kim then spent some time looking into what might have caused this before asking IT for help. They were eventually able to figure out that they had been deleted, which was great news because that means that they are recoverable and not corrupted and broken files.

As this all happened Kim called the group in the meeting some taxis and waved them on their way. She then took the time to clear up the meeting room!

Tonight’s self training class was amazing. Kim picked up 3 or so moves from.when she trained 2.5 years ago. She is really starting to feel things click into place and come more naturally. Kim has also finally picked a song for the competition in November, so she started some basic dance to that in preparations.

MaCallan

Kim bought Curtis some MaCallan whiskey as he’s been wanting to try it!

We sat and watched TV together for a bit and then Kim went off to exercise.

Kim had a great time and then when she came home, we caught up on our TV shows and had a whiskey!

Place 49 – Day 308: Auckland – Half A Power Cut & Steak

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to the office for 07:15 and was busy right way.

Curtis still had his usual admin to do, but also some other work.

A laptop arrived that Curtis needed to test as it was reported as faulty, which it definitely was when he looked into it!

Curtis was busy for most of the day with new cases coming in that all took a bit longer to complete, but they were interesting and it broke up the day.

Around 13:00 there was half a power cut at Curtis’ work, meaning no more coffee! Luckily, the desks behind Curtis had power so he had to move to there for the rest of the afternoon

Curtis finished up for the day and drive home.

Both of us;

Kim went to the shop on the way home and got two scotch fillet steaks, potatoes, broccoli,mushrooms and asparagus which is what we had for dinner.

As usual, it tasted amazing!

We finished this and watched TV for the rest of the evening.

Place 49 – Day 306: Auckland – A Walk for Chocolate & Fajitas

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis left early but due to people being back to work after the school holidays, so he got there at about 07:15.

All was well when Curtis got to work, and for most of the day, actually.

Curtis knew he had to take a PC back to a client, but other than that he didn’t have much to do.

Curtis ended up having a fairly busy day with new cases coming in, but it was a ‘good’ busy.

After lunch, Curtis had some more work to do and was busy right up until he left for the day.

Curtis was surprised when he left and there was no one on the roads and got home very quick!

Both of us;

Kim got home from work and we went right out for a walk. We walked to the shop to buy chocolate and the odd dinner related item. The weather was so nice we just had to go for a walk!

We got back from the walk and Kim made steak fajitas which were amazing as ever!

We then just watched TV and videos all evening and it was great to chill out.

Place 49 – Day 305: Auckland – The End of Hockey in NZ

We woke up at 09:30 and had homemade crepes for breakfast. We had strawberries and chocolate sauce with them, too!

Once we ate this, we both showered and then Curtis watched the Leafs game.

Whilst Curtis did this, Kim did some admin for our next location and vacuumed.

Once the hockey was finished, we went to Glenfield Mall to do our weekly shop.

Before we stopped, we did the usual and got a coffee from Little Things and Kim also got a chocolate peppermint slice.

We then did the shopping and drove home.

We got home and Kim made food for lunch, which is a homemade sandwich filler of chicken and bacon with mayonnaise.

Tabitha then came round and we headed to Curtis’ play-off quarterfinal game.

The game was a good one and went to a shootout! Curtis’ team were 2-0 up and Curtis got an assist on each goal, too.

After that, it went to 3-2 to the other team and then Curtis’ team tied it!

Curtis’ team dominated the overtime but couldn’t grab a goal, so it went to the shootout where the game ended with a loss. That is all the hockey Curtis can play here in NZ so now he had to wait for if he plays at all in the next location.

We then went to Carl’s Jr and got a burger with Colten, Sarah and Tabitha and then drove home and went to bed!

Place 49 – Day 304: Auckland- Onehunga Shopping & Cornwall Park

We woke up way later than planned or expected, at 11:30!

We had a quick bite of breakfast, showered and left the house.

We met Josh and Danielle in Onehunga, at the mall.

The mall was very busy! We walked around the mall with Danielle and Josh, stopping in a lot of shops. The mall is an outlet mall, so lots of great deals! Kim got some sunglasses and Curtis got some swimming shorts.

We left here and Curtis wasn’t feeling great, so we grabbed a bottle of orange juice to drink. We then drove over to Cornwall Park and walked to see the sheep and lambs!

The lambs!

We left Cornwall park and headed to Glenfield mall. The day today had odd weather. we were warm and then absolutely freezing, especially once the wind came in.

When we got to Glenfield, we went to get just a couple of items from the shop (pasta, wine & strawberries…A normal shop!) And then went to get a coffee from Little Things, which as excellent as always.

We got home and did a bit of laundry, then watched the Great British Bake Off.

After that, Kim made hoisin duck and mushroom pasta and we watched some YouTube videos whilst we ate.

After that, we watched the apprentice.

Once we were done with that, we played some Call of Duty with Kim’s friend Ryan, then it was bedtime.

Place 49 – Day 299: Auckland – Baked Potatoes!

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to work incredibly early and spent half the morning doing admin.

14 laptops arrived which Curtis then had to setup and configure, as well as install some more hardware inside. This took up all of the morning!

Curtis finished lunch and then had a remote session to complete. He luckily managed to complete that as he was having trouble connecting last week.

Most of the afternoon we then taken up by a possible virus on a server which Curtis then had to look into and resolve.

Both of us;

Once we were both home, we just had to go for a walk as the weather was incredible! We walked up to the shop to buy some baked beans for dinner.

For such a long time, Kim has wanted a baked potato for dinner, and we finally found a big enough potato to do so! Curtis got a ‘kumara’ (Sweet potato) for his.

We got back from our walk and had a baked potato with cheese and beans.

We then watched the first episode of the new Apprentice series and a few YouTube videos before going to sleep.

Place 49 – Day 298: Auckland – Tāwharanui Beach & Fish Burgers!

We had a nice 10+ hour sleep last night, which made up for early start on Saturday!

We woke up at 09:30 and had a spot of breakfast before we got ready for the day and jumped in the car.

Josh drove us to Tāwharanui Beach, which is a beautiful surf beach! He weather wasn’t that great at times, but the rain held off and we have some great fun. We walked on the beach and onto the rocks, where there is a few rock pools which are beautiful clear water!

Kim jumped into The above pool, which was apparently very cold!

After the rocks, we went back and off them and up a little hull where we got a really nice view of the beach.

We left the beach and went back to Josh’s grandparents’ house, where we had some lunch. They made us some beer battered snapper burgers and battered sausages, which was excellent!

We then got packed up and got on the way home, but not before stopping at an the old ‘cementworks’ building, which is ruins of an old cement factory, which was pretty cool to see!

We drove on from here and headed towards home, stopping for an ice cream on the way back.

We had quite a bit of traffic on the way home, but we got back home at 16:15.

We popped down to the shop to get stuff for the week, and then went to McDonald’s for a coffee as Curtis got one for free through the monopoly promotion.

We got home and did a few chores, doing laundry, making lunch and a few other things.

We then booked some more accommodation and then had some leftover spaghetti Bolognese for dinner, which watching some YouTube videos.

After this, we got ready for bed and spoke to Kim’s family regarding the trip.

Back to work tomorrow, which is a shame as we’ve had such a fun weekend!

Place 49 – Day 295: Auckland – Keys, Noel Leeming Sale Show & Big Bug Attack!

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis left the house at the normal time and shortly afterwards he realised that he left his car and house keys inside on the floor! The presented an issue as no-one else at home was awake. Curtis tried phoning and texting Kim as well as shouting for her and knocking on the door multiple times. Non of these methods worked, so Curtis told his boss he would be working from home, eventually!

Curtis was eventually let into the house by Kim after 40 minutes and she found it rather funny. On the plus side, Curtis got some great photos of the sky whilst outside.

Curtis then worked from home for the rest of the day and at lunch, started watching the first Leafs game of the season!

Curtis’ day was busy but only with a few admin-type tasks which seemed to take a long time.

Both of us;

When Kim got home, she had a shower and then we went down to the ASB Showgrounds which is a big exhibition centre. This was today filled with essentially a big technology sale, ran by the company Noel Leeming.

Kim’s workplace were attending and they recommended that Kim go and take a look, so that’s what we did.

We got free coffee when we arrived from the lovely people at Nespresso and then went into the event.

We saw Kim’s work colleagues and spoke with them for a while and then left to have a look around the event.

The event was huge with a lot of people but things were selling like hotcakes…trolleys full of items left right and centre!

We finally decided to leave and get some food as we were starting (it was 19:30!). We went to KFC as it was easy and close. The KFC wasn’t great and we had to get another wrap as Curtis’ completely fell apart…Luckily though, we got to keep both so we ate the filling of the first too.

We got home and watched the latest bake off episode before bed.

Place 49 – Day 293: Auckland – Two Busy Mornings

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to work and it was just himself and his boss on the helpdesk from 07:30 until 11:30, and boy didn’t they know it!

The morning was non-stop, with almost anything that could go wrong goung wrong and even Curtis’ work’s remote access software was having a day off and not working!

The afternoon was less bad, with Curtis having pretty much one long phone call, rather than a few shorter ones.

When Curtis drove home, it was surprisingly busy again, and the sun was incredibly warm.

Both of us;

When we both got home, Kim exclaimed how busy her morning was, so it turns out we both had busy mornings.

We went to the shop to get strawberries and then came home and went right back out of a walk in the park next to our house.

Once we got home, Kim made delicious Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes, mushrooms and carrots.

After dinner, we watched the first episode of NCIS:LA season 10!
