Place 49 – Day 270: Auckland – Massive Roast Dinner

We got out of bed at 12:00 after getting to sleep quite late last night!

It was great to get some sleep and relax for a while.

When we got up, we had some cereal for breakfast and then went right back to bed to watch TV.

We decided we should get ready to go shopping, at around 15:00!

We got the shopping and got a coffee, of course, and then came home.

Kim made a tremendous roast dinner which was huge but amazing!

We ate this and then went right back to bed again! We spoke with Kim’s parents on FaceTime and then went to bed.

Neither of us want to work tomorrow…

Place 49 – Day 269: Auckland – A Wedding

Today was Danielle & Josh’s Wedding!

We woke up at 09:00 and Kim and went out to get breakfast for us. She went to McDonald’s which was absolutely delicious!

After breakfast, we both got ready for the wedding by showering and Kim did her nails.

We got a lift from Nicola to the wedding. The wedding was at a vineyard. The wedding included free beer and wine, which was great!

We got to the wedding and mingled before we all had to sit for the ceremony.

The ceremony was beautiful and lasted for about 30 minutes.

After the ceremony, there were a lot of photos. We sat and chatted with people as well as having some drinks and having some of the food that was being walked around.

After the photos, we all sat down at our tables for food. There were a lot of different options, which were in a buffet style.

We ate out food and had some more drinks as well as having a dance or two.

Danielle and Josh had their first dance and then everyone just had a great time for the rest of the evening.

We left at 23:15 and got an Uber home where we were incredibly tired and went right to bed.

Place 49 – Day 268: Auckland – Evening Haircut

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis’ day was a bit busier today. For the morning, he had plans for to continue some things he started yesterday, so that kept the morning busy.

In the afternoon, he picked up another couple of cases and was kept busy doing those. As today was a bit busier, the time went faster, too.

Both of us;

Curtis picked Kim up from work and we drove to Glenfield so Kim could get her hair cut!

When we got there, there were no spaces outside so Kim hopped out and Curtis found somewhere to park (A 5 minute walk away).

Once Kim got her hair cut (exactly how she wanted it) we drove to glenfield Mall to pickup a few things and then came home.

We spoke with Nicola for a while and then Kim made Chinese chicken and rice to go with our leftover dumplings and steamed bun.

We chilled out and watched TV together for the evening which we haven’t done in what feels like forever!

We’re off to a wedding tomorrow, so tha be great fun!

Place 49 – Day 267: Auckland – Back To Work & Chinese Dumplings!

Kim drove to work this morning whilst Curtis got up and was working from home.

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis had about 85 emails to go through, which took a while!

After that, Curtis didn’t have anything to do but eventually spoke with his manager and got some things to do, which meant he was busy for most of the day, until late afternoon.

Curtis had to pickup Kim from work and take her to the city.

Both of us;

Curtis waited in a supermarket carpark whilst Kim went to her meeting.

After the meeting, we met with Danielle and Josh for some Chinese food! We had some dumplings, steamed buns and chicken with rice noodles.

We went home and Kim set up her new Samsung Galaxy S9 and then we went to bed!

Place 49 – Day 266: Auckland – Auckland Zoo & Family Goodbyes

Kim headed off to work this morning and Curtis got up and got ready for the day.

At 10:30, Curtis got picked up by his family to get the day started.

They went to The Bunglo Cafe which we went to on our first ever day in Auckland! The food wasn’t actually that great unfortunately, but the coffee was great. Curtis had an eggs Benedict.

They were all incredibly stuff so they waddled to the car and went to the zoo!

The zoo was very cheap at just $24 which was a good price.

The zoo wasn’t amazing, but the cheetahs were nice and close as were the monkeys, which were great to see.

They stopped for a drink and then went to the Tasmanian Devils where they were feeding and the keepers were there to tell everyone a lot of information about them.

After, the tigers were up on the agenda. There was just one tiger which was asleep but then woke up and ate some food.

After the zoo, everyone went back to our place and chilled out until Kim got back from work.

We then all went near the airport where we all got a meal before the family headed to the airport.

Curtis’ family went to the airport and we all said our goodbyes, with a few tears.

We drove home and went to Danielle & Josh’s house to drop something off and then we went home.

Kim spoke with her mum and then we slept! Curtis is back to working tomorrow but is working from home.

We had an amazing time with the family!

Place 49 – Day 265: Auckland – Piha Beach (Again) & Sky Tower Dinner

Wee both woke up at 07:30 and Kim went to work. Curtis got up and had breakfast whilst waiting for his family to arrive.

Once his family arrived, Curtis got in the car and they were off for the day.

The plan for today was to go to Piha beach. This is the black beach that we have been to previously, but we wanted to show the family.

Once they got to the beach, it was pretty windy but there wasn’t really anyone there, which made for a good walk.

It was windy enough that the sand was being kicked up from the beach, which had an awesome affect!

They walked around the beach for a while and then went to look at the waves that Curtis knew crashed onto the rocks nearby.

After the beach, they went to the highest cafe in Auckland, which we had been to previously.

Curtis had the Moroccan Lamb Sandwich which was phenomenal!

They left the cafe and drove to Kim’s work to get the keys for Curtis’car from her and then Curtis was dropped off at the car.

Curtis drove home to get some evening clothes and then drove to the rental house.

At 16:20, Curtis drove to the garage that Kim’s car was in to pickup the keys and pay for required repairs. He then got some fuel and drove to pick Kim up from work.

After this, we can home and chilled for a moment before driving down to the sky tower in the city.

We first went to the observation deck from which we got a 360° view of the city.

After here, we went down a level to the cafe and had a drink whilst we waited.

We finished our drinks and went in the lift to the floor above where we were booked to have dinner, on a revolving floor! This allowed us to see the whole city at night which was beautiful.

The food was absolutely divine! For starter, we all shared some Kumara bread and had our own starters also. Curtis had King Prawns and Kim had duck breast.

Shortly after, it was the main! Curtis had venison and Kim had steak.

The venison was excellent and the steak was just OK.

For dessert, Curtis had a coffee cake and Kim had a chocolate orange dessert.

The food was excellent and the company even better!

Curtis’ family leave tomorrow evening, so it’s the last day!

Place 49 – Day 264: Auckland – War Memorial Museum & Family Quiz Night!

We woke up together at 07:30 and Curtis took Kim to work as her car is in the garage.

Once Curtis got back from dropping Kim off, he had some breakfast and a coffee and relaxed before showering.

Curtis then drove over to the rental house to meet up with his family.

After getting to the house, everyone got ready and then they all headed out to the War Memorial Museum. Once they got there, there was no free street parking, so they had to pay for the underground parking.

The museum tour started with a Maori experience, which was a story of how New Zealand was founded via traditional Maori song and dance, including the Haka at the end!

After that display, they spent a couple of hours walking around the museum. There were all different exhibits, but the best sections were the WWI & WWII sections which were informative and had a lot of memorabilia.

The building itself was incredibly grand also.

They went to the volcano section at the end and went into a simulation of a volcano/earthquake. This was a little disappointing as it was a long wait for a tiny shake of the room and the lights turning off.

Once the museum was all done, they went to the cafe and got some food and coffee. Curtis had a cappucino and some ham and cheese macaroni.

After lunch, they made their way back to the house and then Curtis went an took some chocolate to Kim at work.

After relaxing for a bit, Curtis went back to Kim’s work to pick her up.

Once we both got back to the house, there was fajitas waiting for us, made by Lisa! We ate these and then drove down to New Lynn to quiz night where Curtis’ family joined in and met Danielle and Josh, also.

We came second to last again, which is perfect, and we all had a great time. They also have new desserts so we had to try those. Curtis had a tiramisu and Kim had a Sundae.

We came home and went right to bed…We were very tired!
