Place 72 – Day 940: Vancouver, BC – Old Sofa Finally Gone!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a day off today, so he did very little! He played some games, drank a lot of coffee and that was that all day, really!

Curtis did one thing of note, which was get the old sofa finally picked up! We were unable to see it, unfortunately, so instead we paid to have it recycled.

Curtis didn’t have to do much, other than help them through the doors. He did book the elevator too, but unfortunately it was already in use, so he had to use the one other elevator. It was a bit awkward as that elevator was already in a lot of use due to the other one being booked, so people were not too happy when they saw it being used for a sofa! Either way, finally, it’s gone!

We now have SO MUCH ROOM in the apartment, which helps us with a few other plans we have.

Curtis did make a potato salad today for our dinner, though it won’t be as good as Kim’s!

Kim’s Day

Kim had a meeting heavy day today! In the morning Kim joined two interviews. She had a review after the first and then had a daily check in with her new teammate. After the second interview she had a quick chat with one of the people who was also there and then they had the final review in the weekly team meeting.

In the afternoon Kim had a check in with a manager to see how their new employee has been getting on. Then she worked with a teammate for the rest of the afternoon to make plans, work on documents and iron out a few things.

Evening

Once Kim got back home, we had burgers for dinner as well as the potato salad Curtis made and some corn on the cob.

We ate that and watched a bit of TV and then we headed to bed!

Place 72 – Day 891: Vancouver, BC – Day Off, Kinda

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a nice slow start to the day and then it ramped right up with a lot of tickets coming in.

Curtis had a team meeting at 10:30 and then continued with getting many tickets done, up until lunch.

The afternoon was much of the same, though there were also some discussions about different topics which were both interesting and important.

Curtis watched hockey whilst Kim was in her evening meeting.

Kim’s Day

This week Kim’s company is off, so there are no meetings or expectations. She, and a couple of others, have decided to continue to do interviews to not hold up the recruitment process.

Kim had one interview in the late morning then she popped out to update the car insurance and pick up sandwiches for lunch.

In the afternoon Kim had another interview and then reviewed candidates in the pipeline for a couple of the roles that are open.

It was a fun and lazy day!

Evening

We had tuna pasta for dinner as well as some leftover potato salad.

We then, after relaxing for a little bit, headed to the supermarket as we hadn’t yet done it over the weekend!

We got our items and headed home, getting back around 22:00. A late shop visit for sure, but there weren’t many people around, which was great.

We watched some TV and relaxed for the remainder of the night.

Place 72 – Day 544: Vancouver, BC – Hand Delivery & New Ski Pants!

The snow had all but gone this morning, which was fast but we were pretty okay with that.

We got up and had some crepes for breakfast.

Once we finished breakfast, Curtis got ready and planned to deliver the equipment for the new hire that he collected from the office yesterday.

Unfortunately, the lady wasn’t available, so we got ready to go for a walk instead.

Kim got her work permit submitted this morning, which is an excellent step forward !

We walked to get a coffee anf then had a short walk around the seawall. The wind was very cold on our ears, for some reason we didn’t expect that!

We got back home and had to wait a while for the elevators. Curtis then walked to the person’s apartment building to drop off the equipment. Unfortunately, they were not home, so he took it home and they said they would pickup instead.

Curtis watched hockey while he waited for them to confirm they were arriving and then once they did, Kim was already going out so she met them downstairs to hand deliver them the equipment.

Once she did that, Kim then went to a thrift store and found a great pair of ski pants as she used hers the other day and they seemed a little too tight.

She got these for just $15 which seemed cheap, but they’re a really good brand!

She checked a few other stores for gloves but had no luck, so she came back home.

Kim then took some stuff down to the storage and brought up some stuff from there, too.

Once she got back, she got some housework done and then made dinner.

Curtis finished watching hockey and then also got some further housework done.

We ate our delicious veggie bolognese and watched some TV for the rest of the night.

Place 72 – Day 494: Vancouver, BC – Addicted To Minecraft

We woke up at a slightly better time today and had some crepes with strawberries and chocolate for breakfast.

We watched a bit of TV then showered and got ourselves ready for the day.

We planned to go for a walk, but the weather wouldn’t let us up, so instead we stayed inside and played far too much Minecraft. We’re pretty sure we’re a little addicted!

We had more leftovers for dinner and watched a film called Ingrid Goes West which we thought was alright.

We played more Minecraft in the evening and Kim had a bath and relaxed.

Curtis had to be on call for work tomorrow, but other than that, we have no plans.

Place 72 – Day 471: Vancouver, BC – Day Off Together

Kim woke up about an hour before Curtis as she had some things to do for work quickly.

She got a courier booked to pickup and deliver a laptop to someone and also did a few other things.

Once Curtis woke up, we had some pancakes for breakfast and watched a bit of TV.

Once we got ready for the day, we did a bit of research and work regarding our PR and work permits and then we went for a walk!

We got a coffee and walked to the beach and had a wander around there for a while, until it began to get dark. We did get to see the start beautiful sunset though!

We got back home and played some games for a bit and then went out to get dinner.

We got a poké bowl each from close by as we saw it yesterday and thought it sounded nice! Kim got jerk chicken and Curtis got grilled salmon.

The food was just ok, with not much flavour and Kim’s had a LOT of kale.

We are our food and then watched Love Actually, as you should during the holiday!

Place 72 – Day 467: Vancouver, BC – A Week Off!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis woke up at 09:30 and had some breakfast.

Whilst he ate and a bit thereafter, he did his Norwegian homework in time for his lesson tomorrow.

Curtis played a lot of games today, but he did also receive the information he needed from work for his visa application, so he put all of that on his visa profile, but he needs to wait to submit until Kim has her consultation tomorrow.

Curtis also got some research done for our visas, to confirm a few things, and find some questions for Kim to ask tomorrow.

In the afternoon, after some lunch, Curtis went down to the drug store to book in for a flu shot, so we are both booked in for Wednesday now!

That was it for productiveness for the day, as Curtis just played games until he met with Kim to go to the shop.

Kim’s Day

Kim spent the day in the office today. When she arrived there were a lot of flies and bugs, so Kim made a couple of DIY fly catchers of clingfilm with little holes in it over a glass that has sugar and maple syrup in it.

She then went over the new HR system with her colleague by sending a new hire a lot of information and forms for them to complete and fill out. Kim the. Had a meeting with the new hire she had been helping over the weekend to finished setting her up and took her through the new hire packet that had been sent over. It was also very productive as they mentioned a few things that needed tweaking on the system and then Kim was able to contact the company there and then to make those changes.

Once Kim passed the new hire to their manager for the day she popped to a couple of shops to get a few things for the office like fly traps, paper towels and more hand sanitizer.

Kim was then back in the office for a short time before heading out to pick up a laptop from the CEO. It was so strange that it was her first time meeting him! She drove over, got the laptop and then they had a lovely quick chat before Kim left.

Once she was back in the office again Kim quickly ate before working on Bamboo again with her colleague. They used setting up her account as a test to see some of the functions of the system. It was great to have an option to run through it again so soon after the morning.

At the end of the day Kim joined a call in preparation for a meeting tomorrow. They ironed our a few last minute details and then Kim made a few purchases before heading home.

Evening

We did the shopping and when we got back home, around 19:00, we made some sweet chilli potato wedges for dinner.

We ate those and chatted about our day and watched some TV for the remainder of the evening.

Place 72 – Day 443: Vancouver, BC – No Work on Friday!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis’ day was busy!

Curtis spent most of the day doing project work, which went really well! He did this with some colleagues and got this pretty much all done.

Along with doing the project, Curtis had a couple of team meetings which went on for a while.

The day was very productive and he was very happy with how it went!

Kim’s Day

Kims new job is mainly a 4 day work week! She can use a Friday as an overspill if she needs to, but the goal is to be more efficient. So Kim had a lazy morning before spending a bit of time researching more PR stuff and a little more about a software for work.

As she had an open afternoon Kim organised to meet an old colleague and good friend for lunch. Kim picked up the lunches and they met near the office, but walked down to the seawall to sit in the sun and have a great catch up. It was so fun and wonderful to relax and spend some time together.

On the way home from lunch Kim grabbed some coffees and then watched a bit of TV to warm up from outside.

Kim had promised her friend that she would being some homemade cookies to lunch but she forgot. So Kim popped back out to drop off the cookies. On the way home Kim stopped at a couple of shops to look around.

Evening

We ordered some Indian food for dinner, we haven’t ordered from there for a while, so we were excited! It was a great curry as always, so that was excellent.

We played some games and watched some TV this evening. We have some plans this weekend so that should be good, providing nothing gets closed due to COVID-19!

Place 72 – Day 352: Vancouver, BC – Monday Mini Golf

Mini Golf!

We woke up and had a cooked breakfast, consisting of scrambled eggs, hash browns, baked beans, toast and Curtis also had bacon.

Today is a day off here in BC, so no work for us!

We watched a bit of TV and then got ready for the day.

We got into the car and drove up to North Vancouver where we went to a driving range, which also had an outside mini golf course!

We got there and it was quiet, but shortly after we arrived quite a lot of people came after us!

The holes were quite simple, but we did enjoy it. Curtis actually won, too, which was unexpected from both of us.

After our mini golf, we went down to the nearest town to grab a coffee.

The coffee shop we went to wasn’t great. The coffee didn’t taste that good and no one inside was wearing masks.

We sat and people watched for a while but got warm, so we headed back to the car and drive home. We stopped in at a store to get bread, too.

We got home and just relaxed to cool down for an hour or so and then we had our dinner.

We had more lasagna but this time with homemade garlic bread.

We watched a bit of TV and then we played a few games that we had previously downloaded but not played. We really enjoyed most of them, actually!

We watched a few more shows, did some housekeeping and then headed to bed.

Place 72 – Day 130: Vancouver, BC – Missed Ferry!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis went to work about 45 minutes earlier today as he was leaving early.

All of the day was working on the application, which does a lot more now and is really starting to take shape.

Curtis got a lot of that done and then it was 14:30 already, which was when Curtis was leaving for the day.

Kim’s Day

Kim didn’t have to work today, so she slept for a while, waking up early afternoon.

Kim cleaned the apartment from top to bottom and then packed the remainder of our items so we were ready to go.

Victoria Again!

We left the apartment to catch the bus which will take us to the ferry.

We had to wait for a long time for the bus, around 40 minutes, but it made it much worse that it was raining…A lot…The whole time.

We found shelter nearby and stood under that as we were very wet and very cold.

Eventually, the bus arrived, but we then got stuck in traffic for a lot of the journey, meaning we missed the ferry and had to wait 2 hours for the next one!

We eventually got onto the ferry and had the buffet food as we were so hungry! It was a Turkey dinner, but we also had salad to start and some dessert.

The ferry arrived in Victoria and we walked up to Linda’s apartment and it is so nice to see her again, even though it’s only been a couple of weeks!

We are here until Sunday afternoon, so plenty of time to spend time with her.

We hunkered down for the evening and were quite tired! Linda seems to have some plans, so we’ll wait to see what we do!
