Place 72 – Day 348: Vancouver, BC – Fro-Yo

Curtis’ Day

Curtis did a few tickets in the morning and it was fairly busy in that sense.

At 12:00, Curtis had a 1:1 meeting and that was a really nice chat. Not much of it was on topic, but it was a fun chat.

After that, Curtis did a few more tickets and then had some lunch.

After lunch, Curtis had some admin to do and then he had an hour long meeting with his team in which they discussed possible on call information, with regards to how that would work and what the policy would state. This was successful, which was good.

Once that was wrapped up, Curtis had some more tickets to do and a bit of admin and then his day was done.

Kim’s Day

Today Kim worked on a project! She is helping out here team by making sure that a few documents are up to date and have the right branding. So she spent most of the day clicking links on the Wiki and making notes of broken links, documents she needs to update and a list of documents she isn’t sure if she needs to update.

During the day Kim had a few ad hoc meetings with her colleague about the events that are coming up. She also reached out to a number of people in the company for inspiration for the quizzes and she notes a few idea down too.

A few times in the day Kims computer played up, once there was a black bar across the middle of the screen and the second time all of her documents wouldn’t save. For both things she had to reset her computer, which really messed up her rhythm of the task she was doing. The second issue was that her documents all randomly saved under a different file type, for no reason whatsoever!

In the afternoon Kim reformatted the documents, except when the computer was bring stroppy. She also recieved a few requests for team meetings in the office and other small requests.

Fro-Yo

Kim got home around 17:45 and she just had to have a cold shower as she was far too warm!

After that, we made some hoisin chicken for dinner which was excellent and then went for a short walk to get some frozen yoghurt! We spent most of the evening watching TV and playing games.

Place 79 – Day 3: Austin,TX – Horse Riding, Shooting & Barton Springs Pool

Ranch Experience!

Horse Riding

We got up with plenty of time to get ready, but someone else was in the bathroom, so this meant we really had to rush when it was available. We hopped in the car and drove to a ranch called Lone Star Ranch. We got there, were welcomed really nicely and signed some forms. We got led out by our wrangler to meet our horses and get helmets.Curtis got a white horse called West and Kim got a dark brown horse called Julian. We were shown what to do and how to control the horses and off we went!We walked though creeks, up steep hills, down steep hills, through jungle areas and beautiful fields. We even got to trot a little bit, which was exciting!

Ranch Animals

After our horse ride, we had some time to kill, so we had a snack and said hi to the other animals on the ranch. There are some sheep and goats, as well as some cats, so we said hi to those.

Washers

We played the game washers for a bit, which is similar to cornhole. Both of us got much better at this as time went on.

Shootin’

We were next taken by Robert to do some clay pigeon shooting. We were using military style pump action shotguns and it turned out Curtis was pretty good at shooting but we both had a great time, if not a bruised shoulder.

We shot for a while and it was great fun! After we finished shooting, we olayed some washers with Robert, and Kim beat everyone! We then went leave but bumped into the owner who was very lovely. We got talking and she was interested in our blog, too, which is great! We thanked everyone again and headed to the car.

Barton Springs Pool

We got into some shorts as it had gotten warm and we drove to Barton Springs pool. Before we paid our $9 entry fee and entered, we sat outside and ate our chicken wraps we bought. This pool is a natural pool which has been created in the middle of a large river/creek.The water was incredibly cold, but it was beautiful and the sun was in the perfect spot.

There was a diving board there, too, which Kim took full advantage of!

We spent a couple of hours here and then drove back home, but it took a while due to rush hour traffic.

Accidental Nap & Dinner

We had been out non-stop for over 8 hours, so we were very tired. We showered and then watched one video and before we were having dinner, we had an accidental nap! It felt amazing to get some solid sleep for an hour.We then had dinner, which was the exact same as yesterday. We have another fun day planned tomorrow, but just a bit less hectic.

Place 72 – Day 8: Vancouver,BC – A Relaxed Wander

Late, Relaxed, Awakening

Our friend Brody, who went with us to the leafs game yesterday, stayed over at the apartment we ate staying at.

We all woke up around 10:30 and we were all incredibly tired and a little dehydrated, mostly due to all the shouting at the hockey game!

We knocked back a few glasses of water and chatted and before we knew it, it was 12:00 and Brody had to leave to visit some family elsewhere in Vancouver.

Breakfast

When Brody left, we had the remainder of our cereal and watched some YouTube videos.

We eventually got ready and went for a bit of a walk.

‘Beach’Walk

It was meant to be cold today, but we felt our was actually quite warm.

We walked down to a ‘beach’ (they call it a beach, but it isn’t really one) and walked for a while, just chatting and watching people. The view was pretty stunning!

We walked back towards the apartment and remembered we still haven’t tried a certain coffee shop, so we had to go and try the cappuccino there!

Waves Coffee

We were welcomed into Waves coffee and it was a great environment. We each got a cappuccino and sat down, people watching.

The coffee was great! Perfectly strong and nice, fluffy milk. The staff were very nice, too.

Spaghetti Alfredo

We went to the shop and got a few things, but mainly some chicken and sauce for dinner.

We got back and Kim made spaghetti alfredo with chicken and it was delicious! There was a lot of food there but we were both hungry so we polished that off.

Evening

We spent the evening watching YouTube videos and TV shows.

We leave Vancouver tomorrow and we are on a bus for a few hours, so we need to get some sleep, though our bus isn’t until 13:30.
