Norefjord

Place 17 – May 18 2022 to May 20 2022: Norefjord – Back To The Farm!

Day 1

We drove to Nordfjord to visit our friends at the farm that we visited on our travels around 6 years ago! The drive was through snow as well as a lot of tunnels and we got to see a bunch of new places we hadn’t seen!

On the way, we stopped at a bakery in Rødberg for a cinnamon bun and then we carried on to the farm.

We arrived and had some lunch and some coffee, as is tradition, and we caught up with the family who now have an extra child than they did last time which was lovely to see and amazing to meet them.

We were chatting about badgers being a problem and of course, one appeared! We had to chase it down and trap it.

We walked through the forest and cleared it up, clearing up rubbish and also branches that are in the way. The plan is for them to make it into a field that can be used.

We ended the night with some food and a chat. We got to sleep in the cabin we slept in last time which we loved!

Day 2

We had some breakfast and then went down to where the lambs and sheep live to stack a bunch of firewood/logs so they can dry and are stored for the winter. We love doing this so this was great!

We had a coffee break, as you should, it was really nice to sit and chat with them whenever we had a chance.

We needed to move some wood planks from a trailer onto the floor so the trailer could be used again. There were a lot of planks but we worked with Martin to get it sorted.

We loved the opportunity to feed the lambs, too! Some had to be bottle fed, so it was a super nice experience and something new!

For dinner, we had a big roast with a big lamb/sheep leg which was slow cooked. Kim obviously didn’t eat it but Curtis did and it was excellent! The vegetables were a delicious side too.

We needed to make a fence to put around the new sheep field, so we helped to get that done after dinner, which was nice and relaxing.

Day 3

We started with breakfast, as expected and then right when we were getting ready for getting some work done, there was unfortunately a crazy incident with a stabbing in the local town.

This meant that we needed to be vigilant just in case and also the owners of the farm went to see if they could get their kids from school and to see if they can help at all.

The craziness went on for a while and once the evening hit, we walked around and checked all the old fences for holes or trees sitting on them before moving the sheep to their new field!

We had a beer in the sheep field once they’d moved and it was a very nice feeling to see our work come to fruition.

We finished our time there with a curry night! Martin made some really good homemade curry and we even had a visit from one of their friends who sat and had some food with us as well.

We had about 1/2 a day left after this, which will be covered in the next post!

We loved visiting the family again and we can’t wait to head back, see even more farm improvements and help them out.

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a meeting right away in the morning, a new hire’s orientation. They were a really nice person so that was good!

After that, it was all tickets for the day. He had a couple of meetings with people to help them with things and he had to do some admin and organisation.

Curtis is going to be at the office all day tomorrow.

Kim’s Day

Kim had a no meeting start to her day so she was able to use the time to work through some smaller quick wins, which was awesome! She then had a call with her manager to plan the week before joining a call with a colleague to see how they are doing.

Kim then had two 1-1s to see how a couple of new starters have been settling in and how everything is going. She then had a team meeting before having a team training session and finishing the day with more 1-1s with new employees and managers.

Evening

Kim got home from pole and we had some leftover curry from last night, which was still incredible!

We watched some TV and relaxed, but Kim did have to do a little more work, too.

Place 72 – Day 988: Vancouver, BC – New Friends?

We woke up far too late, but tlwe slept great, which was good!

We had some breakfast and watched a bit of TV and then slowly got ourselves ready to go out.

The weather was better today, so we wanted to walk down to the beach. We got ourselves a coffee and walked down! The weather was actually perfect for a walk.

We saw a person in a replica batman suit, which was random but pretty cool looking!

We walked around for a bit and then started to head back home when we saw a big beautiful dog! We stopped to say hi and the owner was actually English, too!

We ended up having a very long chat with them and took their number. They’re a lovely couple and we’d probably like to meet with them again.

Once we got back home we decided what we were going have for dinners and then drove out to the supermarket to buy our weekly food.

After arriving back home, we made a homemade chicken tikka masala and Kim made homemade naan!

That took a while to make but it was certainly worth it. Delicious!

We watched a film whilst we ate and then it was basically bed time.

Place 72 – Day 967: Vancouver, BC – Mini Golf in Abbotsford

We woke up and had showers and then Curtis went to get croissants and coffee for breakfast.

We ate our breakfast and then we chatted with Kim’s sister for an hour and a bit. It was really nice to chat with her and catch up!

We then left to drive out to Abbotsford to go and play mini golf. We had been told that there was a really good place out there, so why not explore a little!

There were a few accidents on the way, so it took us about 1 hour 40 minutes to get out there, but we did get to drive through some nice rural areas.

We got there and it was GROSS inside! Very few masks and a lot of people. We decided to do the outdoor mini golf, as we didn’t have to worry about other people.

We did the 18 hole mini golf, but it took quite a while as we had to wait for people in front of us to finished each hole before starting and they took a while!

We finished that up, with Kim narrowly winning, and then we got hungry and thirsty, so we went across to McDonald’s to get some food. It was a pretty gross McDonald’s store, so we ate some of our food in the car and then drove back towards home. The way back was much faster, though we did have some congestion in a few spots, but that was to be expected.

We drove to the supermarket on the way back as that made the most sense and we did our weekly shop. We bought a lot of soup, as Curtis has his surgery this week and cannot have anything other than soup and soft food, Kim so managed to find some really nice soft foods and liquids for him.

We got back home and Curtis had the remaining leftover curry with some rice and Kim had some homemade egg fried rice with vegetables which was really good!

We watched a bit of TV and then Kim looked up some exciting things online!

Curtis has to be up earlier for a meeting tomorrow, so we shall sleep at a good time tonight!

Place 72 – Day 966: Vancouver, BC – White Rock!

We woke up lazily and had some scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast whilst we watched some of the F1.

We got ourselves ready, slowly, and then drove out to White Rock, only about an hour away from us and on the US border!

We got there and parked up, with the first mission to find coffee and snacks, which we did. We got ourselves coffee and Kim has an Oreo cheesecake and then we went for a walk.

White Rock is a small seaside city with Canada’s longest pier, which is where we went!

We had to cross some railway tracks to get there, which are in use, but we took a quick cool photo!

We walked onto the pier and saw the US opposite us! We looked down into the water and saw a lot of purple starfish, which were cool, and then Curtis looked up and noticed an eagle sat above us!

We walked back along the pier and down to the water, where Kim dipped her feet a little to cool off.

We walked back up to the car, up the large tiring hills, and then drove back home. It was a wonderful day out and much nicer than we expected! We definitely want to do a night or two here soon and just relax.

After getting back home, we had leftovers from yesterday and then went out for a nice evening walk.

Place 72 – Day 895: Vancouver, BC – Double Curry

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a brief chat with someone at 09:15 and after that he had some security data work to do as well as some tickets and admin.

At 12:00, Curtis had a team building session with his team in which each person had to pick another and write out answers to questions on their behalf, to see if they could get it right. This was pretty entertaining.

Curtis then played a game of werewolf which was also pretty fun and funny.

Once that was finished, Kim picked up some chicken katsu curry for lunch as Curtis got a $40 lunch budget from work for the team building.

We ended up getting enough food for lunch AND dinner, which we can’t complain about. That being said, the food wasn’t even that good.

Curtis’ after then consisted of another meeting with his team to wrap up projects for the last couple of weeks and then he did some end of week admin and some more ticket work.

Curtis just played games whilst Kim was out window shopping.

Kim’s Day

Kim had a lazy day! She slept in and then had some breakfast while she watched part of a movie. She answered a few work questions while she watched the movie too. Then she popped out to pick up some lunch.

After having lunch with Curtis Kim finished her movie and then packed up all the things going to the charity shop. After dropping things off at the shop Kim had an afternoon of window shopping and walking around downtown! It was lovely

Evening

As mentioned, we had curry leftover for dinner, so we ate that and watched some TV together. Kim did need to get some admin done once she got back from the shops, so she did that before dinner.

Place 72 – Day 890: Vancouver, BC – Homemade Cappuccinos

Cappucinos

For breakfast, we had croissants we bought yesterday, but also homemade cappuccinos which were delicious!

Kim is excellent at steaming the milk correctly, so we really enjoyed our fancy coffee for the morning.

Longer Walk Than Normal

We had no plans today and the weather was lovely, so we went for a nice long walk. W

We walked down the seawall, as usual, but we also went through to 2 different beaches and through the park, which was less busy, beautiful and just overall very nice!

Thai Green Curry

We did a bit of housework once we got back home and then made a chicken Thai green curry! It was delicious though we do like it a little spicier.

Bath

Kim had her usual weekly bath in the evening and then we relaxed together. Kim is off work for the week, so she is excited to relax a little, though she will likely do some work still.

Place 72 – Day 505: Vancouver, BC – Busy, Productive & Successful!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had quite a quiet morning, but did a few things here and there.

After lunch, it got a bit busier, with a few tickets coming in together and Curtis jumped on those, as well as some people reporting some other issues which Curtis helped with too.

At the end of the day, Curtis was informed of someone leaving the company tomorrow so he had to organise their equipment return.

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day with a quick call with a teammate to help them with a question they had and set up a few things on their calendar. She then spent a small amount of time preparing for her meetings for the day before hosting an onboarding.

After the onboarding Kim had a meeting planned to go over some HR things. The meeting covered kittle of what was planned, but was very productive and useful!

Kim then joined the recruitment meeting to discuss the open roles and the next steps.

For the afternoon Kim had a lot of little meetings and organised a few IT things as well as looked at candidates for an open position that the company has.

Evening

Kim went out to get some chicken and once she got back we had Katsu Curry!

We had the sauce already, so we just needed to bread and fry the chicken (and make rice).

We ate that and watched some TV for the evening.

We can’t believe it’s Thursday already!

Place 72 – Day 443: Vancouver, BC – No Work on Friday!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis’ day was busy!

Curtis spent most of the day doing project work, which went really well! He did this with some colleagues and got this pretty much all done.

Along with doing the project, Curtis had a couple of team meetings which went on for a while.

The day was very productive and he was very happy with how it went!

Kim’s Day

Kims new job is mainly a 4 day work week! She can use a Friday as an overspill if she needs to, but the goal is to be more efficient. So Kim had a lazy morning before spending a bit of time researching more PR stuff and a little more about a software for work.

As she had an open afternoon Kim organised to meet an old colleague and good friend for lunch. Kim picked up the lunches and they met near the office, but walked down to the seawall to sit in the sun and have a great catch up. It was so fun and wonderful to relax and spend some time together.

On the way home from lunch Kim grabbed some coffees and then watched a bit of TV to warm up from outside.

Kim had promised her friend that she would being some homemade cookies to lunch but she forgot. So Kim popped back out to drop off the cookies. On the way home Kim stopped at a couple of shops to look around.

Evening

We ordered some Indian food for dinner, we haven’t ordered from there for a while, so we were excited! It was a great curry as always, so that was excellent.

We played some games and watched some TV this evening. We have some plans this weekend so that should be good, providing nothing gets closed due to COVID-19!

Place 72 – Day 431: Vancouver, BC – Autumn Is Here!

Curtis’ Hockey

Curtis’ team won their game last night, which was good, but there was controversy again!

The other team’s goalie pulled his groin at the end of the 1st period, so the other team had to get a player into the goalie gear and play him in net!

Curtis managed to get an assist and his team won 4-1, but felt bad for the other team a bit and hoped the goalie was ok!

Autumn Is Here!

We went out today for a walk to and around Stanley Park.

We walked a different way to get to an Italian coffee shop which we had some nice coffee from!

We had a long walk for a few hours and it was much colder due to it being autumn now. It was beautiful outside, but much colder.

Katsu

We got home and relaxed for a bit, playing some games, doing some research for our PR & watching some TV.

We then went out to do the shop at around 17:45, which felt much later as it was so dark!

We got the shop done and headed back home, where Kim made a chicken katsu curry.

The chicken was really good, but for some reason the sauce didn’t turn out ask expected, which was a little disappointing.

We chilled out for the evening, it was a little colder too than it has been, so it felt nice and cosy.
