Place 72 – Day 903: Vancouver, BC – Vaccine Booked!

We both woke up to messages about booking our first vaccine, so we booked that in and we are ready to go for June 3rd!

We got up, happy to have got booked in, and Kim went out to get strawberries and banana so we could have them with French toast.

We had that and then slowly got ourselves ready to go out.

We did our usual walk and had beautiful weather for it! We did turn around and head back home a little earlier than usual as we went to look for some snacks, but didn’t find anything we wanted, so we got a nice different walk route out of it which was a good change.

We got back home and we were both pretty hungry, so we made some rice to go with our leftover chicken.

After dinner, we watched some more TV and chilled out.

Place 72 – Day 523: Vancouver, BC – Negative!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a busy morning, with many people messaging him and asking for help.

Curtis had his usually weekly team meeting at 10:30 and after that he had some more tickets to attend to.

After lunch, Curtis had a call with someone to show them how to do something and then there were 35+ new tickets that arrived at once which Curtis dealt with these were user role change tickets, so it was just a bit of admin for the last 45 minutes of the day!

Kim’s Day

Just after her day started Kim had a call with her colleague to go over the projects that they both have going on. It was a really useful meeting where Kim was able to talk out a document she was writing and get a second viewing on it meant she was able to figure out the wording that she needed to make it better. She focused on the document after the call too.

At midday Kim joined a team meeting chat where they had a quick 15 minute catch up to go over some of the other ongoing projects over the next few weeks.

Shortly after the meeting Kim received a test to say that the test results came back negative, which was such a relief!

In the afternoon Kim worked on an info email to send out to everyone. Then she finished the day on a call working with her colleague on a few things. The call was mainly to collect the paperwork needed for the facilities project, but they also went over a few other things too.

Evening

Kim was meant to receive a package today but it had not arrived and the tracking was fairly useless, so she contacted support and that also wasn’t too much help!

During this, Kim made dumplings to go with our leftover stew and we then ate that whilst watching TV.

We had to reschedule the viewings planned for tonight and tomorrow as the testing centre for COVID suggested that Kim isolate still, if she has symptoms, even if she tests negative.

Therefore, it was just relax time!

On the plus side, Curtis got his final piece of paperwork he needs for PR and Kim just needs a couple!

Place 72 – Day 522: Vancouver, BC – Another COVID Test

We woke up and had ourselves some breakfast and relaxed.

Once we were done with breakfast, we each showered and got ourselves ready. During this time, Kim noticed a slight tightness in her chest and shortness of breath.

Out of precaution, she went to get herself tested for COVID-19. This was her second test, as she had one close to the start of the pandemic, but this one took far less time.

This was still unpleasant, though!

Kim went to a drive-thru testing station, which was incredibly easy and efficient!

Once she got home, we had to re-arrange the apartment viewings that are meant to happen tomorrow, should Kim have COVID.

We should find out the results some time tomorrow, likely the afternoon, so we thought postponing would be the safest thing to do.

Due to this possibility, we didn’t go anyway today, we just stayed at home and relaxed.

Kim is perfectly fine, other than a little bit of chest tightness and we suspect that she doesn’t have COVID, but we shall find out tomorrow.

Curtis watched hockey whilst Kim went to get tested and then we played games and watched TV for the remainder of the day.

We don’t have much food in the house, but enough to get by for a few days, so we had frozen pizza as it was the easiest thing.

Place 72 – Day 498: Vancouver, BC – New Year’s Eve 2020

We tried to wake up at a good time, but accidentally fell back asleep and woke up at 12:00!

We had some breakfast and then got ready, but once we got ready, the weather had turned and there was a lot of rain, so we didn’t go for a walk.

Kim did a little bit of work that she had to do and we also took a photo of Kim for our PR application.

We played some games and then had some cheese and wine for dinner whilst watching the film Set It Up, which we actually really enjoyed.

We played some more games and watched TV and have no plans for when it hits 00:00, as you’d expect!

Happy New Year to everyone and let’s hope COVID-19 gets under control at some point in 2021! 🤞

Place 72 – Day 444: Vancouver, BC – Pre Birthday Walk

We woke up and had a small-ish breakfast.

We watched a bit of TV and then got ourselves ready. The weather outside was beautiful, so we went out for a walk.

It was cold outside, but the sun was shining and we stopped to get a coffee to warm us up.

We found out today that there are new restrictions within BC for the next two weeks, meaning neither of us can do our sports and a few things are changing, such as both of our office’s closing.

Kim did a little bit of work, writing up a message to tell people that the office was closed.

After we finished our nice long, cool walk, we went out to the shop to get that done.

We got that finished and then when we got home we had leftover curry from yesterday.

We watched Lilo & Stitch after dinner and just chilled out for the rest of the evening.

Tomorrow is Kim’s birthday!

Place 72 – Day 373: Vancouver, BC – It’s Audit Time!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis started the day with some admin and then had to try and get someone to follow a process which took a lot of time.

After that, he had his weekly team meeting and then did some tickets.

Right before lunch, Curtis got told that there was an audit and some information was needed for them, so he did that for most of the afternoon. It wasn’t the most exciting thing to do, but it was required and he got it done in half a day which was great!

Kim’s Day

Kim spent the morning setting up returns for people sending back laptops and answering an enquiry about an ad hoc visit request. She also had a couple of calls with her colleague and helped out with rewording a communication.

For the afternoon Kim made a few things for the final two parties. She put together a detailed timeline for her colleague and herself to refer to and made a pretty agenda to show everyone at the party whats coming up next!

For the rest of the afternoon and into the evening Kim worked on the Quizzes. She finished one completely and has all the questions for the other on Kahoot, but just needs to add answers and the media! She is so happy that she got that done!

Evening

Kim was working late again, so when she got home it was fairly late.

We had some chicken chilli that we had made previously and defrosted and then watched a little TV for the rest of the evening.

Place 72 – Day 355: Vancouver, BC – Quiz Test & Back To Pole!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had to renew a license in the morning so had to figure out how to do that one which took some time.

Curtis then did a bunch of tickets and after that he edited a guide that needed changing.

After that, he had some lunch and then helped Kim with testing her quiz that she has made, along with Kim’s family!

The test went really well, and then Curtis did some more tickets as well as a bit of security training in the late afternoon, which everyone at the company has to complete.

Curtis then watched hockey after work was done.

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day by catching up on a few emails and adding the last few questions to her quiz.

At midday Kim had a meeting with a vendor who popped in. They went over an offer that they have, Kim and her colleague are very excited and hopeful that they can utilise this great offer!

Just after the meeting Kim hosted a game time, but no one showed! So Kim worked on the quiz for a bit.

Kim had organised a test run through of the quiz with her family She sorted out a time and then sent out an invite to her parents and sister, and Kim invited Curtis and her colleague too. It was a great test and Kim got some wonderful feedback that she can use going forward into making the other quizzes. It was also so fun! Everyone seemed to enjoy the quiz, some questions were harder than others, they were able to iron our some technical issues and just have a good catch-up too!

After the quiz and mini game test were done Kim started troubleshooting an issue she had with the audio. The problem ended up that Kim had turned the volum down on the game to stop the lobby music being too loud and didn’t turn it back up again for the sound rounds in the quiz! So that was funny and an easy fix! She also updated the quiz with some word changes and layout changes of some of the questions. She finished by starting the second UK quiz and will work on that a little more tomorrow.

Back to Pole!

Kim got home and shortly after went off to pole! She was finally going back, but obviously there are precautions, such as wearing a mask the whole time and keeping 6ft apart.

Kim loved being back at pole! She was a little nervous at first, but she had a great double lesson back, with a teacher she loves to train with. Kim didn’t manage to nail many of the moves, but she is taking it slow and understanding that her body will have lower limits than it did pre COVID and that thats okay! She will work her way back up for sure. Its also exciting as Kim now has momentum and will, hopefully, start practicing at home too!

We had a chicken salad for dinner and watched a bit of TV, once Kim got back from pole.

Place 72 – Day 332: Vancouver, BC – Homemade Mac & Cheese!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis got some admin and tickets done in the morning and then there was a company wide meeting with information about the company’s plans, financial information etc which he attended.

At the end of that call, he went to the office as someone was picking something up so he had to get that sorted for them.

Whilst at the office, Curtis took a shock take of the current laptops so the whole team knows what the Vancouver office has.

Curtis headed back home and had lunch when he got back.

Curtis didn’t have too much to do in the afternoon so he did some admin and some training.

Kim’s Day

This morning Kim started her day by researching stuff for events that are coming up and dealt with some other small admin tasks.

Kim the helped IT set up a new computer but before sending it out she compared FedEx to UPS to see how the prices differ and how easy the system is. The price was good so Kim tried UPS. She packaged up all the things and got it ready to go. She had an issue with part of the paperwork so had to redo that.

Just as she finished that Kim joined a call with two teammates to discuss processes that will be going in place over the next few weeks. It was very productive and needed as it was only meant to be 15 minutes, but lasted the full hour.

Before she left Kim set up a few meetings and sent out a few emails.

Homemade Mac & Cheese

Curtis ran out to get some milk and then when Kim got home, she made Mac and cheese! We bought smoked Gouda and some nice cheddar to use and it was excellent!

Kim did some pole dancing at home properly for the first time and loved it! She loves having the ability to do that!

We went out for another evening walk which yielded beautiful photos once again!

We watched some TV and played some games as usual and then went to sleep.

Place 72 – Day 330: Vancouver, BC – Warm Sunny Walk

Birthday Chat

We had a chat with Curtis’ family as it is his mum’s birthday today!

We chatted for quite a while and then hung up and started our day.

Shopping

We went to get the shopping done and actually paid to park underground as we were getting a lot of heavy and bulky things, so it was easier to do it that way.

We got back home and decided to go out for a nice walk as the weather was beautiful!

Warm Sunny Walk

We walked down to the seawall and just kept walking! The sun was beating down and just beautiful!

We walked all the way around to English Bay Beach, but it got a little too busy, so we headed back home.

We got a Vietnamese coffee on the way home, because they’re delicious so we can’t say no!

Homemade Thai Curry

We got home and Kim ordered some things online and then she made a Thai curry!

The curry was delicious and Kim also made a ‘lazy egg’ with it, too, which was something we really liked in Thailand!

Place 72 – Day 326: Vancouver, BC – Homemade Veggie Lasagna & No COVID-19!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a fairly early project meeting which didn’t last too long, but had a few action points from it which was positive.

Curtis got some tickets completed and then had a couple of team meetings.

Curtis had a few more project related meeting sheich were very positive and did some more tickets, finishing the day with creating a new project.

Kim’s Day

Kim spent most of her morning working on one FedEx delivery. She ended up redoing the whole thing after chasing for weeks. Hopefully with the new right pickup and whole new paperwork everything will go smoothly, but who knows!

Just after midday Kim called the helpline to get her test results. The first time she called she was unable to get through, then the second time they confirmed that Kim does not have COVID. Which is wonderful! Kim had some lunch and started the ‘meat’ sauce for the lasagna tonight and then headed into the office.

Kim collected all the things she needs to send our to a new starter and began packing them up. She joined her 1-1 call with her manager and that was great. Bother were happy at the new that Kim does not have COVID and they spoke about events for the future.

After the 1-1 Kim went back to sending the items. She had to rebox one of the packages as she had packed more than was needed, so that was great! Kim also picked up the post and ordered coffee for the nespresso machine. It was a very productive afternoon!

Evening

Kim got home after being at the office for the afternoon and made a vegetarian lasagna!

It turned out perfectly and was so delicious! We had it with some homemade garlic bread, too.

We watched TV and played some games for the evening, as usual.
