Place 49 – Day 229: Auckland – Getting Mega Buff

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis was at the office all day today and the day was incredibly busy! Curtis really didn’t stop at all.

Curtis was completing things he couldn’t get done at the client yesterday.

Our Evening;

Curtis left work and went to pick Kim up from her work. Straight from there, we went to the gym! We had an orientation at the gym to show us how to use different machines as well as get information about what we want to achieve and we got guidance also.

We were at the gym for an hour and learned a lot as well as had a workout whilst learning!

We left the gym and picked Kim’s car up from work and drove home.

Kim’s Evening;

Kim quickly got ready when they got back from the gym and then headed out to meet Tabitha. As it was her birthday yesterday Kim wanted to go out to dinner to celebrate!

When they arrived in Takapuna they went for a bit of a walk trying to find a restaurant. When they eventually found it there was a 30 minute wait so they walked all the way back to where they started and went to a Mediterranean restaurant.

They shared a platter and halloumi cheese and Tabitha had crispy squid.
The platter apparently fed 4 people so the they both took some home for lunches tomorrow!

They then headed over to the chocolate house and shared a s’mores dessert.

Both of us;

Kim got back home and we watched some videos before going to bed.

This time last year!

Place 49 & 53 – Day 228 & 19: Auckland & Wellington – There & Back In A Day!

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis didn’t have to get up early and go to the office. Instead, he woke up when Kim woke up, had breakfast and chilled out. Curtis didn’t have to get to the airport until 10:30, so he didn’t need to leave until around 09:45!

Once Curtis eventually left, it was an easy and quick drive to the airport. There wasn’t much traffic at all.

Curtis got to the airport and went to the first car park he saw, which was the wrong one! Curtis was meant to to go to M but went to R instead. There isn’t a huge difference, but R is just a little more expensive as it’s under cover. As Curtis had already entered the car park he was unable to leave so he had to park there!

Curtis already checked in online so he went right to the gate. Curtis got a cappuccino and waited whilst doing some work.

Curtis boarded the plane and fell asleep during the flight which made it go fast!

Once Curtis landed in Wellington, he got an Uber to the client. When he got to the client, Curtis was give a large list of things to do/look at, of which he got most of it done.

Curtis had to leave the client just 2.5 hours after arriving to catch a flight back. He got to the airport and grabbed a small Subway and ate it before proceeding through security and to the gate.

Curtis’ flight home was uneventful and once he landed he paid for his car parking and drove home.

Kim’s Evening;

Kim went to the gym directly from work. Kim was there for a while and even did a 20 minute ‘run’ on the cross-trainer!

Kim stopped off at the shop on the way back to get some supplies.

Both of us;

Curtis still got home before Kim!

Once Kim got home, she showered and Curtis setup the TV and heated up our last portions of our pasta bake…

We watched an episode of Modus and then we were incredibly tired so just made lunches and went to bed!

The below link will take you to one of our best blogs yet! A great read about our (VERY brief) wander into North Korea.

Place 49 – Day 227: Auckland – School Night Out

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to work and started by doing some admin and training.

Curtis then had to do some work and the day was pretty none stop from there.

Curtis left the office at the normal time of 16:30 and got home around 17:00.

Both of us;

Once Curtis got home, he was in need of a shave so did that and then sorted out the washing up.

Once Kim got home, we had some of yesterday’s pasta bake and then Kim watched the final of love island.

After love island, Kim went out for a drink and a meet up with some friends that she used to work with at the hotel.

Kim had a really good time chatting and just having a laugh.

Once Kim got back home, we pretty much went right to bed. Curtis is going to Wellington just for the day tomorrow, back to the client that he went to previously.

Place 49 – Day 226: Auckland – The Mystery Handbag…

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to work and his colleague had been there a while.

Shortly after Curtis got there, his colleague noticed a handbag which was on our balcony. We thought this was odd so we had a look.

Upon further investigation, it was soaked through but also empty! This made us think that maybe someone was robbed and then someone threw it up there, or someone was drunk and threw it there. Either way, it was an interesting start to the day.

Curtis had a good day after this. The day wasn’t too busy, but he got some things done.

Curtis did manage to give himself a cardboard cut, which wasn’t too pleasant.

Curtis left a bit earlier to get to Birkenhead and get his work credit card activated. Once he did this, he drove home.

Both of us;

Once Curtis was home, he did some ironing and washing up, as well as spent a good 10-15 minutes trying to open an electric toothbrush which was incredibly fun.

When Kim got home, she went to the gym with a work colleague! She did a variety of exercises and different machines. It was good for her to have someone who knew what they were doing.

Kim made an incredible dinner when she got home. It was a tomato and pasta bake with sweetcorn, mushrooms, chicken and ham! We have enough for a couple of days, too which saves some money.

Kim then watched love island, we made some lunch for tomorrow and then it was bed time!

Place 49 – Day 225: Auckland – Piha Beach

We woke up naturally at about 08:00 but didn’t want to get out of bed so we stayed in bed until 09:30.

We wanted to do something fun today, so getting up early was a good idea!

We got out of bed then decided we didn’t want to start the day just yet.. So we played a little bit of Fortnite.

We eventually had breakfast, nothing crazy just a couple of crumpets each, then started to get ready to go out.

We left the house around 12:00 and drove for an hour west to get to Piha Beach. The was a really beautiful scenic drive!

The beach is a black sand beach, which is caused by volcanic rock!

There were huge rocks around also, which made for some excellent photos!

We wandered around the beach and the day was perfect for it! Not too hot but by no means cold.

Kim noticed that one of the rocks (which was a mini-mountain really!) had stairs going up it. The only problem was that we couldn’t get across to it because there was water in the way. The plan was to find a way to drive to that side and explore.

The rock in question

We went for a walk down to the other side of the beach before we left to find out way across.

We got to the other side and climbed over some rocks to another small beach. On this beach we unfortunately saw a deal seal and a dead (big) bird of some sort! This was clearly an unlucky beach…around the corner from that, there was a big set of rocks which the waves crashed off of and the waves went incredibly high!

We then left here and went to find a way up to the other rock.

We drove down the road for a little bit and found a car park to park in to get there.

We had to walk for a bit and then got to the rock. It turns out that the rock is called ‘lion rock’!

We walked up it to the top (at least the top of where you are allowed to go) and got some photos. We also sat for a bit because it was tiring!

The view

We then made our way back down and we were getting increasingly hungry on the way back do decided it was lunch time.

We drove to a cafe we saw on the way to the beach which was called Elevation. This is the highest cafe in Auckland.

The food was great but the service wasn’t too good, unfortunately.

Curtis had eggs benedict and Kim had a cheesesteak sandwich!

After this we drove home and did nothing special for the rest of the night. We just watched some TV and had a quick dinner of homemade Chinese chicken with rice.

Place 49 – Day 224: Auckland – Big Win & Post-game Beverage

We woke up at 10:00 and Kim FaceTimed her family.

Once Kim was done with that, we had a ham, cheese and egg bagel each for breakfast.

Once we were done with breakfast, we got ready and headed out to Onehunga.

We were going to find some new work shoes for Curtis as his current ones have holes in and Kim was looking for some clothes, too.

We went to a few shops and Kim got a couple of exercise tops and a skirt and Curtis didn’t find any shoes!

We left Onehunga and went to Glenfield Mall on the way home to do the weekly shop.

We stopped in at Coffix when we got in and had to wait a while as it was busy! Once we got our coffee, Curtis’ wasn’t good at all which was a shame!

We then stopped at a couple of shops to look for shoes for Curtis and eventually found some nice brown ones.

We then did the shop which didn’t take long and then we came back home.

We did a bit of a clean when we got home, doing the vacuuming.

We then drove to Botany for Curtis’ ice hockey game.

The game was a really good one and the Curtis’ team got the 4-2 win!

After the game, we went for a drink with Curtis’ colleague Colten and his girlfriend Sarah. It was nice to sit and chat, until the music got too loud which is when we left!

We then got home and Curtis showered and we watched some funny videos whilst eating leftover pizza as dinner!

Place 49 – Day 223: Auckland – Lazy Friday Evening

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis woke up at 07:15 and began work around 07:25.

Curtis didn’t have much to do in the way of cases, but had a lot of admin to do, so he did that.

Throughout the morning, Curtis picked up a few things here and there and got those sorted and then it was 11:00 and Curtis had finished work!

Curtis got showered at 11:00 and put the dishwasher on as well as putting the clothes washes on.

Kim decided it was a good idea to throw her lunch on the floor today, but Curtis came to the rescue and picked Kim up and we went to a place that makes really nice wraps. Curtis had the lamb wrap and Kim the chicken. They were delicious!

Curtis dropped Kim back at work and went home.

Curtis spent the rest of the afternoon playing the NHL 19 Beta which was released today!

Both of us;

Kim got home and we played sone fortnite. Kim was planning to go and see the planet mars at the planetarium but it started raining so that didn’t happen!

We weren’t hungry for a while and then after Kim and Nicola watched love island, we both became quite hungry, so we ordered a Dominoes because it was late and we are lazy..

We picked it up and sat and watched a few TV shows whilst we ate.

Place 49 – Day 222: Auckland – Setting Up A Boardroom

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to work and had a bit to do briefly and was able to figure out the thing he’d been trying to sort out for the last couple of days!

He then had a phone call for an hour whilst trying to fix a few issues for someone.

At 10:00, Curtis had to go to a client to setup a polycom and Webcam in the boardroom.

As usual in IT, nothing worked as expected! Curtis was there for 3.5 hours and it still didn’t work as expected!

Curtis left the client and had to go to his company’s old office to collect a parcel. Once he did that, he went back to the office and had lunch.

After lunch (which was 15:00!) Curtis had a few little things to do and then it was home time!

Curtis is working from home in the morning tomorrow and then finishing work at 11:00.

Both of us;

Kim got home and then went right back out again. Kim signed up for the gym and did a yoga class! Kim has decided that she isn’t as flexible as she once was.

When Kim got home, she made a chilli con Carne with rice. Curtis cooked the rice and it was the best rice ever!

After dinner, Kim watched Love Island with Nicola as per most evenings.

Place 49 – Day 221: Auckland – An Amazing Pie!

Curtis’ Day;

Nothing too crazy happened today for Curtis.

Curtis had a slow morning but got a lot of team admin work done, which was useful.

Midway through the morning, there were a few cases that Curtis had to deal with and then it got hectic!

After spending two hours trying to figure something out yesterday, Curtis continued with the help of his colleagues, but didn’t get anywhere which was frustrating.

After lunch, Curtis had a few things to do but nothing crazy until he needed to get into multiple machines to put some software on them. After that it was was time to drive home.

The drive home was busy, but Curtis still got home at normal time.

Both of us;

Kim stopped off at the shop on the way home to get some food.

We wanted to make a pie, so we had a minced beef, mushrooms, onion and garlic pie with mashed potato on top as the lid. It was excellent!

Once we ate that, Curtis cleaned up and Kim showered. Kim then baked some lemon cakes (some were lemon and coconut!) and watched Love Island with Nicola.

Place 49 – Day 220: Auckland – Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to work for the regular time and luckily, unlike yesterday, he didn’t have to fix anything right off the bat. That being said, the same issue did occur again later in the day!

Curtis had a lot to do during the morning, but it wasn’t busy in a bad, uncontrollable way, just busy!

In the afternoon, Curtis spent the whole time trying to figure one thing out, but didn’t get anywhere!

Curtis drove home at 16:30.

Once Curtis got home, he had the remaining stew which was still scrumptious!

Kim’s Evening;

Kim went home from work briefly, got changed and left again.

She went to the cinema with Danielle to watch Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. Kim loved the film!

Once Kim got home, she showered had some pesto pasta and watched Love Island with Nicola.

This time last year!
