We woke up and got ourselves showered and dressed and then we headed right out.
We went out for a walk and got some breakfast on the way. We got ourselves a croissant and some coffee from the European style bakery down the road.
We had a nice long walk for a couple of hours. It was brisk outside but a pretty perfect temperature.
We stopped in at a jewelry store that Kim has bought things from before to look for a replacement earring and Kim was able to find exactly what she was looking for!
Once we got home, we watched one or two things on TV and then Kim did some admin for our PR application.
Once that was done, we played some VR for a bit and then had some chilli for dinner.
Once we ate, we went out to the shop to get the shopping done.
We got back home and Kim made cookies and then we watched some TV together for the remainder of the evening.
Curtis had just one meeting planned for the day, but it got pushed tomorrow so he had some free time!
He did what he had planned, some tickets and finishing off a project, but then decided to pickup another project that needed doing.
He wrote out some tasks to do for that project and got to work.
He had to contact some people, turn on some settings and assist them with setting a few things up and then tested a few other things.
Curtis got that all done in a shorter time than he expected, so he had time to do some more tickets at the end of the day.
Kim’s Day
Kim started her by finishing the game she had planned for today, she got the last couple of questions made and she found all the images to go with them. Then she hosted the game and it was good fun! A smaller turnout than usual, but thats okay!
As that game went well Kim set up and sent out the invite for a game next week. She also reorganised a meeting for next week and sent out the invite for another cello performance. She also gave away a few office chairs today in an auction style over the internal messenger, that was a few minutes of fun!
In the afternoon Kim tried to make a payment for something again and this time ended up on the phone for support and to try to make the purchase over the phone. She had no luck and had been advised to just try again after 24 hours.
For the rest of the afternoon Kim spent her time working on the Sales project and it paid off because she finished the first leg. She set up a meeting to go over it with the person in sales.
13th
We watched a Schitts Creek whilst we ate our leftover dinners, and then we watched the docu-film 13th which is about the US prison system, slavery, racism and all things that are very hard hitting, especially with the current Black Lives Matter movement.
After we watched that, we watched The Great and Kim made cookies.
We got up and had some breakfast, just some scrambled eggs and hash browns.
Curtis got to use his new Aeropress coffee maker, which was well worth it! Excellent coffee!
We then got ready for the day and headed down to the garbage disposal area and then up to our storage locker, to put a few things in there.
We then jumped in the car and drove to our old apartment to get a few things we forgot!
We picked up our cereal and some clothes we had hung up, as well as our bath mat and entrance mat.
We left there and went to Canadian Tire where Kim got some stuff for work and we also bought ourselves some cotton facemasks so we don’t have to keep using disposable ones.
We had to line up for that and then once we were done we lined up to enter the supermarket.
We got our shop done and drove back home.
Once we got home we did a few things around the apartment. We put all our clothes away and got some things moved around to the right place.
We had also listed our old bed frame for sale so were responding to people about that, too.
We made katsu curry for dinner. Most was fresh but the sauce was packaged as we bought it a while ago so had to use it.
Kim breaded the chicken and fried it and we had it with potato and onion cooked in the sauce with some rice.
It wasn’t amazing, a little bland, but next time we know what to do!
We finished that up and then watched another Middleditch & Schwartz which is a very funny improv standup comedy show.
We had a quick breakfast and then got ready for the day.
At 12:30, we had a virtual apartment tour with a really nice apartment.
This is done so that people can see if they’re interested and therefore limiting physical contact and people going outside, which is great.
We really liked the look and location of the apartment, so we are going to go and see it in person.
We finished up with that tour and then relaxed for a while.
We were meant to have an in person apartment viewing at 15:30, at least that is what we thought, but then at 1:20 the realtor told us he was no longer able to do it, but it was at 15:00! We felt very silly, but we have been able to reschedule.
We did very little for the rest of the day, just playing games, watching TV and having a couple of epic mini sticks battles!
We finished the night with our dinner, fajitas, and then cookies.
We watched the movie I, Tonya in the late evening.
Curtis had, as with most Friday’s now, a meeting filled day.
His first meeting was his daily team meeting, which was then followed by a meeting with a colleague to discuss some notes they’d made regarding their project and to see if Curtis could help out at all.
After that meeting, there was a couple of hours break in which Curtis got some tickets done.
Curtis then had a 3 hour long meeting with his team to discuss the week’s work, projects and plans for future projects.
After that, it was 14:00 and lunchtime.
There was a cookie decorating thing happening at Curtis’ work for valentine’s Day, but he didn’t take part.
After lunch, Curtis didn’t have anything planned but then had to help someone out with some password issues they were having, which took an hour or so.
Curtis did a couple of other things and then chatted with a few people who were in the lounge having some drinks.
Kim’s Day
Kim spent her morning doing a virtual clean up. She deleted old files and emails and reorganised folders too. She also listened to her voicemails.
Just after lunch Kim went out to get a hot chocolate with a lady from work as it was the last day of the hot chocolate festival!
In the afternoon Kim set up and enjoyed the valentines day celebrations!
She put the games and fun things out that she made: draw the heart on the emoji and match the foreign love phrase to the English translation and its language a TV with Romcom best moments playing. She also put out a few plates of snacks and made an alcoholic slushie.
She then ordered catering for the office in Toronto and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon catching up with everyone!
Kim worked out the winner of the game and then headed home a little early as she had a doctor’s appointment to get to.
When she was at the optician last week, Kim mentioned that she had lost a little vision temporarily when she had the migraine a few months ago. The optician then suggested that Kim look into that further and made a referral to head to the doctors.
Kim spoke with the doctor about this and she now has more tests and appointments to head to over the next couple of weeks. She is all fine, just taking steps to keep healthy and safe!
Evening
We have a busy weekend!
Firstly, Curtis had a hockey game this evening.
After Kim got back from her appointment, we had some leftovers for dinner and then headed to the rink.
Curtis’ hockey game was close! Curtis didn’t continue his point streak, but did score a shootout goal and his team won in a shootout against the top placed team!
We got packed for the weekend and went to bed!
We are heading off to Comox tomorrow to spend some time with Brody, who is Canadian but we met him in New Zealand! We’ve got some fun stuff planned so it should be a fun filled long weekend!
It was a very warm day today and when Curtis walked to work he worked up a sweat!
When Curtis got to work he had an email regarding an issue with a mac which he dealt with and then he ended up getting a lot of tickets come in and got most of the sorted before lunch.
Curtis had a team meeting right before lunch which was productive and informative.
After lunch, Curtis’ day became a bit less busy but he did then notice a warning light on a server so he worked with a colleague to get that sorted.
Curtis then had 2 informative meetings in which he learned a few new things and then he walked home.
It was another hot walk and when he got home he relaxed for a bit before sorting out the recycling into type piles.
Kim’s Day
Today, Kim walkedto work all lonely because she had to get in early to man reception.
Kim got started on setting up for the day, putting out fruit etc. and then had a few questions for reception. By the time Kim finally ended up in the HR department to start her day it was 10!
This also didn’t last long. While doing some admin, Kim needed some help from the front desk with something so went back out there to go over a few things. While Kim was getting help, a lady from the Marriott popped by to make an introduction and say hello to Kim and another colleague. It was lovely to put a face to the name and she even came with cookies! They were delicious snicker doodle cookies and did not last long in the office!
Kim then eventually went back and continued with some admin.
Kim spent the rest of her morning and early afternoon after lunch on more of her project, just familiarising herself with the applications and how things work.
Kim then had a meeting about some HR procedures and even had a chance to help with some of the onboarding process.
Just towards the end of the meeting, some of Kim’s colleagues were walking around playing music and handing out ice creams! What a great way to celebrate mid afternoon on a Wednesday.
Kim kept herself busy for the rest of the afternoon.
She left early due to arriving early and took this opportunity to head to the bank to collect her credit card. One very hot train journey and 20 minute walk later, Kim had collected her credit card and headed home via 2 buses and the supermarket. She had to pick up some veggies!
Dinner
We sort of did nothing for a while and then decided we would make dinner.
We had pork and egg fried rice. Curtis made the rice as per usual and Kim cooked up the vegetables and meat.
TV
After dinner we just watched some TV and Kim showered to get ready for tomorrow.
Curtis got to work, grabbed some coffee and an orange juice and went through his many emails (mostly spam) from the weekend.
He then swapped someone over to their new laptop and stored away the old one for safe keeping.
Curtis had a few new tickets come in and people reply to some from last week, so he managed to keep perfectly busy.
At 13:00, instead of lunch Curtis had a training session for the new HR system, which he learned for about 45 minutes, after which he had lunch.
After lunch, Curtis didn’t have too much going on, so he reset a couple of laptops and set them up ready to be reused.
Curtis finished these and then was asked to think about changing the procurement process and possibly automate a lot of it also, so Curtis looked into that for the rest of the afternoon.
Kim’s Day
When Kim got in to work, she went through her emails and got stuck in for the day. Kim then went and sat with the people from HR as this week she will be learning some of their processes so as to be able to lend a hand as and when needed.
Just as Kim got comfortable, something came up that she needed reception’s help with, so she went back over and sat there for an hour or so. Kim was going to head back and then the weekly fruit arrived so she helped put it all away before heading back to HR.
Kim then went into a meeting about a specific application that is used and really got some good knowledge on how to use it and what its used for.
Then was lunch! Kim had to run a few errands over lunch so she set off on her little adventures and then ate her sandwich in the kitchen area when she got back. It was nice to get out of the office for a bit in the middle of the day.
When Kim got back off of lunch she was doing some self teaching about the processes and applications used in her new role.
Kim then headed into another meeting and learned more about this mornings application. This was more in depth than before and Kim was able to process some paperwork too.
Kim spent the last few hours learning about the company and doing some research into the company’s background. 10 minutes before she was due to leave the laptop ran out of juice and died!
Kim got a cool photo when she left the office as the weather was beautiful.
Costco Again
We visited Costco on the way home. Kim got her actual membership card and then we looked at getting a few things but they weren’t actually that cheap, so we walked home.
Forgotten Purse
Once we home, Kim went back out to get some baking ingredients. Once Kim got to the shop, she realised she forgot her purse so Curtis had to take that up to her.
We got what we needed to get from the shop and came home.
Bolognese Day 2
We had bolognese with a side salad again today, because we had some left over.
Brookies
After dinner, we watched some TV, including Lucifer & Chernobyl and then Kim made brookies (brownie cookies). Kim is taking them to work tomorrow.
