Place 72 – Day 317: Vancouver, BC – Tape, Tape & More Tape

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a pretty busy day!

He started the day answering some questions about Microsoft Teams and completing some admin (emails, messages, tickets etc).

After that, he had a computer checkup to do and then had back to back meetings.

His first meeting was security related and that was very positive and then after that he joined an Ask Me Anything with someone from work about important things!

Curtis did a another computer checkup after that meeting and then finally had some lunch.

Curtis did a few tickets and admin in the afternoon and then his day was done. Very busy and went fast!

Kim’s Day

Today Kim put tape on the floor and that is about it! She started her day by finishing putting the signs up around the office and then moved on to measuring up a team meeting space and ensured that all the chairs were a safe distance apart. After that Kim organised the kitchen and made sure those chairs are a safe space apart and she mapped it out on the floor.

Kim spent a bit of time in the morning replying to emails and printing a couple of forgotten signs. She also had a quick meeting with her colleague in the early afternoon.

After lunch Kim moved a bank of desks and then cut and laminated the signs. To finish the day Kim mapped out another team meeting space by measuring and taping it up. It was a successful day!

And, Chill

We both had busy but positive days, so when Kim got back home we just chilled out. We couldn’t be bothered to make anything for dinner, so frozen pizzas it was!

We ate our food and watched some TV…it was super warm today so we had all windows and the balcony door open trying to cool down!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a very irritating day today.

He had the zoom webinar and then after that he spent most of the morning doing computer checkups. Most of this should be able to be done without even contacting the users, but for some reason Curtis’ laptop was being a pain, so it meant he had to contact each user and either get them to do some things or have a Zoom call with them and do it for them.

After lunch, Curtis had a couple of tickets to do and then had a long Zoom call with someone to try and get an issue fixed, but unfortunately he wasn’t able to get anywhere with it, other than ruling out possible fixes, so it’s back to the drawing board.

Kim’s Day

Kim took the mid week catch up call from home and today it was just her and one other person, but someone she had not met before! So it was great to meet them and say hello.

Once she was in the office Kim started on peeling the signs off the bin doors and removing all the loose tape too. She then organised the new bins and put the signs above them.

Kim had a call from a vendor who she is waiting on a response from to tell her that they haven’t done anything but are going to. Which seemed like a total waste of time, especially given that they had been calling multiple times a day just to give that message.

In the early afternoon Kim had a jackbox game planned, but only one person joined so they had a quick chat. For the afternoon Kim continued to reorganise the office. She emptied more drawers, removed some tables and tagged desks that IT need to look at tomorrow. It was a long but good and successful day.

Towards the end of the afternoon Kim wrote up a to do list for herself and IT for tomorrow.

A Relaxing Bath

Once Kim got home, Kim decided to head to the pharmacy down the road to get some drain unblocker for our bath as it has been getting more and more blocked.

Once she got that and came back, she had a nice long relaxing bath which was just what she needed.

We then made a veggie stir fry for dinner, but we ended up not having enough noodles for 2 people, so we had sweet & sour chicken with rice and vegetables and Curtis will have the stir fry for lunch tomorrow.

We watched some TV and then went to bed. Nice, simple & relaxing evening.

Place 72 – Day 311: Vancouver, BC – YOU

Curtis’ Day

Curtis spent his morning doing a lot of computer checkups with people which, for some reason, some of them didn’t work, so it took a bit longer than usual.

That took us most of the morning and then after lunch Curtis had 2 back to back meetings.

The first meeting was a discussion on security and then the second was a meeting in which Curtis was the Business Analyst for the project and had to get some plans together for next steps, which he and the team did successfully.

The day was a bit quieter after that, with Curtis just doing a couple of tickets and some admin before wrapping up for the day.

Kim’s Day

When Kim got in the office she called a company and asked a few questions and set up an account. It was very easy and a great start to the day.

Kim went on to order a few gift cards, save and chase some reciepts and answered a few calls. She then made some more signs and amended a few that she had.

For the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon Kim and someone from IT went around and cleared more desks, they removed a load of redundant wires, collected up MORE found IT equipment and started a more thorough general office sort out and clean up.

Midway through the afternoon we had someone pop in to assess the plants and tell us how they were these past few months. We managed to only kill one, which Kim is saying is a big win!

More Curry!

We had leftover curry for dinner, with more coconut rice. It was just as good as it was yesterday!

We watched a very funny South African comic whilst we ate and then a couple of episodes of YOU afterwards, which is getting very intense!

Curtis’ Day

The weather outside was wonderful this morning when we went for our walk, so Curtis felt refreshed and ready to start the day.

After he showered and had breakfast, Curtis did some admin and then had another computer checkup to complete at 09:30, so he did that and then did some security work.

After that, he had his daily team meeting, followed by some project work and then he had another checkup to do.

Curtis got his project work completed and then had his weekly team meeting.

After that, he actually ended up having a busy afternoon, which he wasn’t expecting, as he had some people reach out about some issues, and that lead him perfectly to the end of the day.

Kim’s Day

Kim got herself ready to play a game of cribbage, earlier than she would usually start working. So she got orgnaised, joined the call, and then realised it wasn’t her game! So she left and then did a test of a bunch of light bulbs in the apartment and made a bin pile and replaced some of the dead lights in the kitchen.

When she started work at the proper time she reached out to someone she is meant to be arranging a phone screen for as they had not been in contact.

Kim then spent most of her day working on righting a wellness and ergonomics document for the Wiki. It was something that her manager said would be a good thing to have for people to refer to while working from home. So Kim did her research and spent most of the day making the document to be a interesting and informative!

She also joined yoga at midday and in the afternoon updated the cribbage tracker to account for the games that took place today. Towards the end of the day, she aldo heard back from the candidate and booked them in for their phone screen.

Back To Working Out

We worked out after Kim got back from the office.

We played some mini sticks first as a warm-up, of course, and then did our working out which felt great.

We both showered and then we had chicken pesto pasta for dinner as it was almost 20:00 and we were hungry, so it was nice and quick.

We watched travel man whilst we ate and then watched some TV, played some games and played more VR…We are definitely addicted to VR!
