Place 72 – Day 869: Vancouver, BC – Successful Packing Day

We woke up at a really good time and Curtis went out to get some croissants for breakfast.

We ate and got ourselves ready, and then began packing up!

We got most of the bathroom packed up, other than stuff we need for the next couple of days, and then we packed all of our clothes and things in the bedroom, so that’s now empty, other than furniture.

We got a lot of kitchen stuff packed up too and then managed to get a nice long walk in, before we took some stuff over to the new apartment.

We got home and were hungry, so we had some chili for dinner and then it was relax time.

Kim had a bath and then we watched some TV.

We have tomorrow off but we actually move on Tuesday. We need to break down the bed and a few other bigger items and pack the last few things.

Nearly there!

Place 72 – Day 432: Vancouver, BC – Full Bathroom Clean

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a meeting at 10:30, so did a bit of work before that.

The meeting was good and after that he did some more tickets.

In the afternoon, Curtis setup accounts for a new starter and did some other tickets, too.

Kim’s Day

Kim spent most of the day doing a deep clean of the bathroom. We noticed it needed to be cleaned, so Kim said she wanted to do it during the day whilst Curtis is working.

This took a couple of hours and then Kim did some more research for the permanent residency we need to get and we now know a little more about what is required and we’ve sent off some emails we need to send to get some information and items.

Risotto

Kim wanted to make some risotto, so she had to go and get some wine as well as some other things for the risotto, such as parmesan cheese.

Kim made the risotto and we watched some TV whilst we ate.

We then watched a Netflix show about designing homes, which is something we love to watch!

Kim had to do her background check for her new job so she did that and we chilled out after that.

Place 72 – Day 146: Vancouver, BC – Fixing The Bathroom

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had another busy day today. He had to setup another laptop in Denver, so he got that done, but it took some time, even just to get connected.

Curtis got a lot done, but also got to investigate some problems he and his team were running in to.

The day went incredibly fast again and he walked to meet Kim and walk home.

Kim’s Day

Kim started her day by dropping the car off to the garage as it needed a couple of small replacements.

Kim then made her way into work and spent the first bit of time with IT, trying to figure out how Kim broke a few things on her outlook! A couple of the issues were solved, so that was great.

Kim then did a new hire tour, which would have been her first in a fair few months, so that tested her memory!

After the tour Kim then spent a while going through old photos of the company to find a few that would be great for the Wiki project.

Kim also had a call today to speak with a potential venue for the winter party this year coming. As its a great venue Kim knows it will get booked up quickly so she is starting the conversation now to present to people nice and early!

After lunch Kim had a final 1-1 with her boss. It was such a great catch up, they sorted out a few things and just had a wonderful chat.

The rest of Kims afternoon was a lot of sorting and going through smaller mini projects.

Fixing The Bathroom

We got back home and Curtis made himself sausages, potato and peas with gravy. He ate this whilst watching a YouTube series about AI, which was incredibly interesting.

Kim went off to training and about an hour after she got there, a plumber as arrived to our apartment so he could fix the tap in the bath. The tap wasn’t working correctly so he replaced it and now it works!

Kim got home after training and had some food whilst we watched TV. Then we went to sleep.

Place 72 – Day 102: Vancouver, BC – New Bathroom Stuff!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis’ day was very busy today. He also ended up spending a long time doing something he’d been doing over the last few days only to find out it wouldn’t actually work that way so it was essentially wasted time! All wasn’t actually wasted though as he learned a lot along the way, so that was good.

Curtis had a couple of meetings, one being his 1:1 and one being a meeting to discuss structure changes which was very positive. After lunch, Curtis did a few more tickets and started rebuilding a Macbook he needs for tomorrow.

He was able to get some things done, but as he was about to leave he saw a ticket about a possible security threat, so he had to deal with that and then someone wanted help with setting up their headset on their laptop, so he helped with that too and left 15/20 minutes late.

At least the day was busy and not boring.

Kim’s Day

Kim started the day by catching up on emails before heading into a meeting with her teammates. Every 3 months a new hire meet and greet is held and Kim will be a new starter and help with the organising of it too.

After this meeting Kim got a few small things sorted before heading into another meeting! This time it was with finance to iron out a process and make sure it is working the best way it can be / see what we are missing.

After this meeting the locksmith came to fix a cabinet. But it turns out that a lot of the pieces are missing so it is unfixable. Kim then went straight from this into her 3rd meeting to run over the plans for tomorrow, as the summer party is finally here, and ensure that we have good shopping lists and a rough plan of how the day is going to turn out.

Somehow after this meeting it was lunchtime, the morning just flew past! Kim went up to the roof with a few colleagues and soaked up some sun and had a great catch up.

After lunch Kim spent most of the afternoon organising and collecting things for the party tomorrow. There was a small break at about 230 for a nice little first aid catch up to give the opportunity for the people going on the course to ask any questions and to familiarise ourselves with what we have in stock. It was a short and sweet meeting, but at the end Kim built up a first aid kit to take to the party tomorrow. Better to be prepared!

Kim and her colleague then went out to grab some massive containers for tomorrow so it was one less thing to pick up.

Kim spent the rest of the afternoon setting up for the party!

New Bathroom Stuff

We needed a new bathroom towel rail, so we walked to Home Depot (via the supermarket) to buy one. We looked around for a while, asking employees too, but couldn’t find the one we thought we saw online, so we made do with another, as well as a towel ring for a small hand towel.

we brought it back and were very hungry, so we began dinner.

We had paprika pork with sweet potato, asparagus, green beans and mushrooms with a nice creamy mustard sauce. Delicious.

We watched some YouTube and TV and then headed to bed.
