Place 72 – Day 556: Vancouver, BC – A Great Apartment

Kim & Curtis Hale

We woke up, got showered and went right out to view an apartment. This apartment is just down the street from us and we had high hopes about it.

The apartment was almost perfect for us. We really liked it, so much so that we applied for it!

We left here and went to get ourselves some breakfast and then came back home. We got croissants and coffee which was the perfect pick me up.

We then had a chat with Kim’s family as it is her Dad’s birthday and she then played some games with her family whilst Curtis went to get his haircut.

Curtis finished his haircut and then walked right to meet Kim and go for another apartment viewing. This apartment was the one Kim went to view during the week so she went to have a second look and Curtis got his first look.

We actually didn’t like the apartment really at all on the second look, which was a shame.

We walked back home and Curtis watched hockey whilst Kim relaxed.

We then had leftovers from last night and watched some TV and a film.

Place 72 – Day 392: Vancouver, BC – Smokey Skies

Haircut

We woke up and Kim went out to get some croissants for breakfast. We heated those up and had them with some butter and that was a delicious start to the day!

We then got ready for the day and once we were ready, we went out to get a coffee. We wanted to go to Small Victory but the queue was too long for the time we had so we went to Starbucks instead.

The skies today are incredibly smokey, so much so that it can be seen and you can smell/taste the smoke. This is due to the wildfires in the US.

Once we got the coffee, Curtis had to go down to get a haircut!

He arrived and was right in the chair! He had a nice chat with his barber and got his haircut, of course.

Birthday Present Shopping

Kim went out whilst Curtis was having his haircut to get some birthday presents for Curtis as well as some other things.

Kim went to a place and got a present and then tried to go to another place but it would have taken far too long so she left and went on to Metropolis in Burnaby to get some work shoes and some other presents.

Kim did the small food shop on the way home and then when she got back home, we had some food!

Breakfast For Dinner

We had breakfast for dinner which was delicious! We ate this and watched some TV, followed by some Tony Hawk and a little more TV.

Place 72 – Day 328: Vancouver, BC – New Chinese Food Place

Kim & Curtis Hale

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a few things to do in the morning and then once he did those, he had a team meeting.

He did a bit of admin before lunch and then after lunch he had a project meeting.

After his project meeting, he did a few more tickets and then had a team building session, which consisted of playing some rocket league.

After team building, Curtis got a group created which took a bit of time as there are a few steps to that and then was pretty much done for the day.

Kim’s Day

Kim started even earlier today, as there is a follow up meeting from yesterdays meeting which means she has to move the social call a little earlier. So she joined that and had a great catch up with 3 other people and that was lovely. She went from this call to host the Q&A from yesterday’s meeting and that went really well. As it didnt overrun Kim was able to get the recording uploaded to the Wiki quite soon after.

When she got into the office Kim continued cleaning up the meeting room, she worked on breaking down more of the old notebooks. She then nipped put to grab some lunch and enjoyed that before the east coast social call. There were only two people on that call today but it was still fun!

After the call Kim set up a few desks for people to use on Monday as there will be a few extra people in the office. She measured to make sure all the desks are far enough apart, moved tables to ensure that the safe distance is maintained, got screens and finally sanitised the desks.

For the rest of the afternoon Kim worked on drafting a form that will be needed in the coming months. She finished the day with the west coast social call. There was a good turn out today, so after some chatting Kim hosted a jackbox game and that was fun!

Chinese Food

We fancied Chinese food for dinner, so we ordered from a chain called Peaceful Restaurant as it has good ratings.

Kim got General Tsao Chicken with rice and Curtis got Ginger Beef with noodles.

We enjoyed the food quite a bit.

We watched some TV and played some games with our evening and were looking forward to getting some sleep.

Curtis has a haircut tomorrow, too, which is his first since the barbershops re-opened.

Place 70 – Day 13: Victoria, BC – Shovelling Snow & Fancy Barbershop

Kim & Curtis Hale

We woke up at 10:30 and Kim made and egg, bacon & cheese muffin each for breakfast, which we had alongside coffee and orange juice.

After breakfast, we got some warm clothes on to go into the balconies and shovel snow so it doesn’t seep into the apartment! This meant throwing it over the edge which Kim had a great joy doing!

Once we finished shovelling, we got showered and ready for the day.

Curtis booked himself in for a haircut at a barber down town, so we watched some YouTube videos to kill some time before we had to leave.

We walked down to the barbershop and Curtis got his haircut! It was a really good barbershop and the barber was very knowledgable and listened to what Curtis wanted and it seemed to turn out really well!

We left the barbershop and went to Tim Hortons for a coffee and Kim got a doughnut.

We then walked back to the apartment where we relaxed for an hour and then had our leftover pizza for dinner.

At around 18:00, Curtis watched hockey and then after the game, we watched an episode of FBI with Linda and then went to bed.

Depending on if buses run tomorrow, we plan to head to a place looking at shoes again.
