Place 70 – Day 35: Victoria, BC – Day Trip To Sidney

We woke up and slowly got ourselves ready. We didn’t sleep well at all last night, so it was a slow morning.

We had some breakfast after we showered and then we relaxed for the rest of the morning.

At 12:30, we left to drive up to Sidney. Linda wanted to go back there after not being there for a while, so we took her there for a wander.

We got a coffee and a treat from the bakery and enjoyed those before walking to the waterside and enjoying the weather and the sea.

We managed to see a beautiful seal, until someone scared it away!

We then sat for a couple of hours facing the water just enjoying the scenery and enjoying people watching. There were a lot of kids playing around us, so it was fun to watch them.

We eventually got hungry so we headed back to the car and got on our way to the place Linda had booked for dinner.

We had planned to meet Linda’s friends, Dee & Steve, there (we know they read the blog…Hello!) But they were unable to attend, so we just went with the three of us.

Kim got a chicken burger and Curtis got a burger and they were alright!

Kim had a chocolate brownie for dessert and then we drove back home.

Curtis was pretty tired as he didn’t sleep well at all last night, so he had a little lay down and Kim did a bit of research for some things.

We didn’t do too much for the rest of the evening, just relaxed and chatted, really!

Kim did go out and check out Ogden Point, which she likes to do when here.

Place 72 – Day 946: Vancouver, BC – Staying Out The Heat

Kim got up and went to the cats again, and then got out to Apple and she got a new laptop for work there.

After she got back home, she had some breakfast (Curtis had some before Kim got back) and then we got ready and went out for the day.

The plan was to go to a mall and get some shopping done that we needed to do. Therefore, we drove out to Burnaby and did just that, getting some free AC!

We got there and went to a few stores to look for a few different items. Unfortunately, there wasn’t too much of use there, so we took a bit of a break and went out to the French bakery/cafe we went to the last time we were in Burnaby. We got a tiramasu to share, an affogato each, as well as a berry lemonade, which was a surprising delight!

We went back to the mall after that and we managed to actually get some new flip flops for Kim and a few clothing options! It became more successful the second time!

We then headed back home and stopped off at the cats, but the owner was home so Kim had a quick chat with her and then we went back home.

We had nice cold showers, to get out of the insanely warm heat, and then we relaxed a little before Kim went out to the beach with a friend and their dog!

The weather was still very hot at night, but it was lovely to get to put her feet in the water.

Kim got home and we watched some TV and chilled out, trying to stop it being far too warm!

Tomorrow is meant to be EVEN HOTTER so we have that to look forward to.

Place 72 – Day 938: Vancouver, BC – FINALLY, Prawn Crackers!

We woke up a little too late, but we felt great! We had some breakfast and then got ready for the day.

We went out to the CORRECT French café today! We got a double chocolate cake to share and a cappuccino each, all of which were delicious!

We left here and drove to a lake which we thought had a part attached to it, but it didn’t, so we drop up the road a little to an actual park.

The park was more of a dog park and wasn’t actually that good, so we left and drove back towards home instead.

We got back home and relaxed for a bit before we ordered some Chinese food! We have a place opposite us which we don’t believe has been open very long and it sounded like they did good food, so we had to check it out.

The food was a lot like the Chinese food we used to get in England, which is a huge plus for us! They even had the same type of prawn crackers, which we haven’t had for a very long time.

Doesn’t look amazing, but oh it really was!

Once we ate, we went for a nice long evening walk to the beach!

There were a lot of gatherings around, including a band playing to a large crowd, so we made sure to stay away, though it did make a good atmosphere.

The sun was setting so we had some beautiful views and sunlight, which was lovely to see as we were walking.

We watched some TV when we got home and ate ice cream, which we got on the way back home.

Place 72 – Day 860: Vancouver, BC – New Home Purchases!

Not A Great Sleep But A Great Breakfast

We ended up sleeping quite early last night (at least for us). Curtis had a bad headache and we had a nap and then decided once we woke up from our nap that we would just sleep instead. Curtis actually slept quite badly as his headache kept him up, but at 06:00 he took some pain medication and felt much better shortly after and we were able to sleep until 11:00. We got up and really wanted to have some strawberries and pastries, so off to our usual bakery Kim went and got some strawberries from the drug store, too. We ate our breakfast and relaxed for a bit and then Kim went out to collect a laptop from her IT guy from work so she can ship it out tomorrow.

VR Time

Once she got back and we’d both showered, it was time for some VR! We played VR for about an hour or so but Kim started to get a bit motion sick so she led down for a bit.

Hockey & Furniture Hunting

Hockey started and Curtis watched that whilst Kim went on the hunt for some furniture!

Kim found some really good furniture and secured some for tomorrow, most importantly a sofa, which we needed to get before we move in, and also a chair.

Pizza & Chair Collection

Once hockey was done, we got some pizza from our favourite place and then, once we finished eating, we went to get the new chair from an apartment just up a couple of blocks. We got the chair (just a poang from IKEA) and took that to our new apartment! We are allowed to start moving stuff in, so anything new we get we are just taking right there. We took the chair in and also checked out the views and how quiet it was (which was very!) and then left to come back home. We relaxed for the remainder of the evening and then headed to bed, thinking it was Saturday when it’s only Friday!

Place 72 – Day 329: Vancouver, BC – First Haircut in Months & Indoor Mini Golf!

First Haircut in Months

Curtis has had a couple of haircuts from Kim over the last few months, but his barbershop opened up a few weeks ago so Curtis thought it may be time to go there and get them to sort his hair out.We woke up and had a quick breakfast and then got ready for the day.Curtis walked down to the barbershop and it was empty, so he was even able to go in early.Kim did some things around the apartment and got ready for today while Curtis got his haircut.

Fancy Lunch

Curtis was very happy with his haircut and walked back home. On the way home, it began to rain and we had planned to go to outdoor mini golf, which the rain would ruin, so we found an indoor place instead and booked an appointment for 20:15.When Curtis got home, Kim had gone to Small Victory Bakery again and got a coffee each along with a nice Italian sandwich to share which was a perfect, fancy, lunch! We played games and watched some TV before heading out to the golf place.

Indoor Mini Golf

We drove out to Richmond to an indoor mini golf place to get there for around 20:15.We actually had a very great time! It wasn’t a particularly exciting or pretty course, but a full 18 holes and lots of fun was had!

Kim won in the end, by 7, but we had some fun for a bit!We came back home and had leftover Chinese for dinner and watched some TV.

Place 72 – Day 322: Vancouver, BC – Cinnamon Swirls & David Lam Park

Cinnamon Swirls

Kim made mini cinnamon swirls for breakfast today!

We had those accompanied by strawberries and with a delicious icing.

Once we ate those, Kim spoke with her sister as she has moved into a house with a friend, so she was seeing how she was.

David Lam Park

We wanted to go out today and the weather was permitting, so we went down to David Lam Park.

We stopped at Small Victory bakery on the way to get ourselves a coffee and then sat in the park for a good while, just chatting and taking in the scenes.

Games

We came back home after a while and played some games for what ended up being hours, but we found a game we liked so we just kept playing it.

Easy Dinner & A Movie

We decided to just have an easy dinner, so we had some frozen chicken with hoisin sauce, rice and vegetables.

We watched a film called Masterminds which wasn’t great, but was an easy watch.

Place 72 – Day 315: Vancouver, BC – Small Victory Bakery & Metal Recycling

Small Victory Bakery

We woke up at a pretty good time and got ready to go down to a bakery close to us which is meant to be really good, called Small Victory. We know about their big, amazing croissants and so we wanted some of those.

We had to queue briefly, but once we got in, they had run out of their regular croissants!

That being said, Kim got a vanilla cronut and Curtis got a bacon and cheese croissant.

Curtis got a cappuccino and Kim got a Spanish latte, too (which is made with condensed milk!).

We loved our breakfast treats that we got, they were both excellent and the coffees were just as incredible!

Metal Recycling

Once we’d eaten those, we headed back out again, but this time we took the car to a recycling plant.

We had to do a couple of trips to the car from the apartment as we were taking down the old bed frame which had broken on us already!

We got all the pieces into the car and headed to the recycling plant.

We got there and got told to put it in a specific bin, so we did that and that was done! Nice and easy, and fast.

We then went to do our weekly shop, which was also pretty fast!

We got home and just relaxed for a bit, watching a new Norwegian TV show called BloodRide. Followed by playing some VR.

Knives Out

We had leftovers for dinner alongside watching Knives Out which took some time to get going but we really did enjoy it.

We watched that and then a few things after but we had a pretty busy day (at least busy for the current standard) so we went to bed fairly early.

Place 72 – Day 172: Vancouver, BC – Optometrist, Bakery & Sandwiches!

Optometrist

We were up a decent time so we could get ready to head into the city.

Curtis had an optometry appointment, so we had to get down there for 12:50.

We had muffins with egg and cheese for breakfast and then got ready!

We got there and were a little early so Kim booked an appointment for herself and Curtis checked in and then we had a look around at some glasses frames.

Curtis went in for his appointment and it was actually pretty quick.

Curtis got his pupils dilated. It was horrible…! Firstly, it stung a lot, and then Curtis couldn’t see anything close up and it was pretty strange.

Curtis has to get some slightly stronger glasses and contact lenses. He went with a different brand for the lenses after giving them a try.

Curtis then, with Kim, tried a few different frames and finally found a pair! They’re a little different style to what he usually wears, but he really likes them.

Bakery

After this, we went to a bakery called Breka.

Kim had a chocolate mouse cake thing and Curtis and a lemon crumble slice which was tasty!

Curtis had a cappuccino which was ‘eh’ and Kim had a salted caramel mocha which she liked.

We walked to Urban Fare from here to get a few things for dinner tonight and for lunch for the week.

Costco

We stopped in at Costco on the walk home to get some chicken and cheese, as well as a couple of other things.

We walked back home and relaxed for a second, before Kim had to go up to the shop to get some things, too.

Sandwiches!

We each had a great sandwich for dinner! Kim had a two cheese sandwich with brie and cheddar and Curtis had a steak sandwich!

Each sandwich had mushrooms, onions, cheese an balsamic vinaigrette.

We ate these and has some wine and then watched some TV for the rest of the night, whilst also getting ready for work tomorrow.

Place 72 – Day 50: Vancouver, BC – Dragon Boat Festival 🐉

Bagels

We woke up and had a nice relaxed morning.

We had cinnamon raisin bagels for breakfast, covered in butter, which were delicious.

We relaxed and then headed out to the shops.

Brief Shop

We had a few more things to get, mostly a bread knife which we noticed we needed this morning!

We got some items and then came home.

Dragon Boat Festival

There is the Dragon Boat Festival happening right by our apartment this weekend, so we thought we would check it out.We went to watch a race first, which we did from a small island near where we live.

We walked further down and watched the next race and then went towards all of the festivities which were happening by the science centre.

These festivities were not that interesting, but there was a lot of free stuff, including free mcdonalds coffee, but when we got in the queue they ran out of milk, so we didn’t get one.

We walked around some more and checked out what all the fuss was about but then we wanted a coffee so found a nearby bakery to grab one from.

We got our coffee and came home, where we just relaxed, watched some TV and ate quesadillas for dinner, which Kim made!
