Place 72 – Day 569: Vancouver, BC – Rice Burger?

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a couple of meetings today.

The first was to discuss a process he had made and get feedback from the team on that and make the required changes.

After that, Curtis had some admin and tickets to do then he had another meeting with his whole team to discuss all the project work that they had done over the last 2 weeks.

Once that was done, Curtis had lunch and then after lunch was busy with tickets and some questions from people.

Right at the end of the day, he had to try and find out why a courier hadn’t delivered something he had sent out to a new hire but eventually it was delivered.

Kim’s Day

For the first time in a while Kim had a lazier Friday morning. After a little lie in Kim spent the day getting admin done. She had a impromptu meeting with a teammate at midday to go over sending a laptop to a new starter.

Listed new open roles and then had a surprise call with another teammate to go over a few HR things including social media posts about the new job openings.

For the rest of the day Kim got a lot of admin done and made some plans for next week!

Evening

After work, we led in bed for a bit and just relaxed before we ordered some dinner.

We got food from a place called Rice Burger which, as you would expect, make burgers with rice instead of buns.

Kim had a chicken katsu rice burger and Curtis knew it would be annoying to eat, so he just got a bowl which had lots of different meats in it as well as some sauces, vegetables and rice.

We got ourselves a side of curry potato croquettes and they were excellent! The rest of the food was pretty good, but nothing incredible.

We watched a film called Ladies in Black which didn’t really seem to have much of a point to it, but it was alright.

We walked out to Dairy Queen and got a dessert from there, then walked home and relaxed.

Place 72 – Day 415: Vancouver, BC – Friday Ex-colleague Drinks

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a slow start to the day, but it picked up and he got a decent amount of tickets completed.

Curtis had a meeting in the afternoon with his team to discuss project work and then after that he drove Kim out to a pub so she could have some drinks with some former colleagues!

Kim’s Day

In the morning Kim worked on her questionnaire a little more and maybe finished it! So thats exciting! She had planned to work on the video aspect but decided she would work on that over the weekend instead.

In the afternoon Kim went out with a few friends from her old job and it was so nice! They went to a brewery near the old apartment, so it was nice to be in that area again. Kim had a pretzel and a couple of drinks and had a great catch up. One of the people there Kim hadn’t seen since COVID started.

After this most of them went to a patisserie to get a beautiful dessert and Kim decided to get one for herself and Curtis too. Then Kim ordered and picked up some dinner before getting picked up by Curtis.

Evening

We got some bao from Bao Down for dinner and they were just ok, nothing crazy..

We ate these and watched some TV, then we had a bit of a lay down as we were feeling pretty tired!

We watched some more TV and played some games.

Place 72 – Day 43: Vancouver, BC – Kitsilano

Walk To Kits

We woke up and had a pains au chocolat each and some strawberries.

We ate this and then spoke with Kim’s family briefly as they were at Kim’s uncle’s wedding.

We then sat down to speak with Curtis’ family, but missed them so instead we left the house and walked to Kitsilano!

Kitsilano is a very trendy, hippie and beautiful neighbourhood in Vancouver. It took us roughly 45 minutes to walk from our home across to ‘Kits’.

The weather was beautiful, with the sun beating down on us.

The majority of the walk was along the seawall, so we got to see a lot of boats and we even walked through Granville island.

Coffee In Kits

We wanted to grab a coffee so we found a coffee shop called Bean Around The World. We believe this is a chain but it smelled delicious when we walked in and it was pretty well priced as well.

Curtis got a cappucino and Kim got a caramel macchiato. Both of our drinks were delicious!

Looking For Food

We thought we would look around for something to eat, so we went to the main area in Kitsilano to get some lunch.

Unfortunately, we were unable to find anything, so we settled for a wrap and KitKat from Whole Foods instead!

Kitsilano Beach

We walked to the beach which has mountain views and lots of volleyball courts! We sat and ate our lunch and then began the walk home by the side of the beach.

We walked all the way home from there which took about another 45 minutes and we were exhausted!

Shopping

We got back home and relaxed for a bit as our feet hurt.

We then went out to do our shop for the week and didn’t really spend that much!

We came back and Kim made a really good dinner which was marinated pork with noodles and vegetables.

We finished up with dinner and watched the first episode of the new season of Black Mirror, followed by some Lucifer, as well as some ice cream and then whiskey!

Place 77 – Day 1: Las Vegas,NV 🇺🇸 – Vegas Early Night?!

Bus To Vegas

We were up nice and early to shower and get fully packed. We didn’t have breakfast as the plan was to have it at McDonald’s by the bus station.

We got to the McDonald’s and there was a really good breakfast deal, so we got that and then got to the bus terminal and ate.

Shortly after we finished eating, it was time to board the bus.

The bus wasn’t too full and we got seats together, which was good.

All in all, it was about a 5 hour (or so) journey. It was an uneventful journey, with a brief 30 minute stop in Barstow, California.

The rest of the journey was basically just desert.

Arriving in Vegas

We got to Vegas, incredibly tired, and it took us just 10 minutes to walk to the hotel.

We checked in and got to our room and relaxed, briefly. We have a pretty good view.

Walking Around Downtown

We are staying downtown, rather than on the strip. We walked around the downtown area in the day light to see what’s what and what’s where.

We saw a couple of ladies fighting, which seems like standard Vegas!

Pool

After we walked around, we started to get a bit tired, so we walked back to the hotel where we checked out the pool and decided to sit for a couple of hours, basking in the sun.

After the sun started to go in, we went back to the hotel room and relaxed, watching a bit of TV and then we accidentally fell asleep a little!

Dinner

We woke up and then went down to a place called Flock & Fowl.

We got to the place and sat down. It was quite dark but smelled good!

We got a few small snacks, rather than mains. We got a bao each, shared smashed cucumber, sweet and sour boneless chicken wings and delicious sweetcorn.

The food was just ok, nothing was incredible.

Place 49 – Day 349: Auckland – Friday Night Frolicking

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis came into the office and had about 8 emails from the same person, which was feedback from the work he did yesterday. Most of the feedback was good, too!

Curtis rectified the issues he was told about and then did some other work, which he has been unable to get done as he has been working on the same thing all week!

The day was fairly quiet, though Curtis did have some network issues to fix for a client.

Kim’s Evening;

Kim got home and waited for Danielle to arrive. Once Danielle was there, Kim and Danielle went to Albany to do some shopping and then to Takapuna for some food.

Kim and Danielle went to Tok Tok for food, which is the Asian restaurant that we went to previously.

Kim’s dinner was forgotten about and she had to ask for it, which is a shame, but once she got it, it was delicious! Kim had a Vietnamese coffee before she left, too!

Kim drove her and Danielle back to our place where they sat and chatted for a while.

Kim drove Danielle home, drove herself back home and then it was bedtime!

Place 49 – Day 313: Auckland – Thursday Night Out

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to work at 07:10 again and had to help a colleague with some issues they were having.

Curtis worked through his cases during the morning and also helped his new colleague with the system and also showed him some cases and what is done to resolve them.

In the afternoon, Curtis didn’t have much to do, so he got some extra work from his boss before completing some more training.

Both of us;

When we were both home, Kim quickly got in the shower and got changed, and then Curtis took her out to Takapuna for a work evening out.

Kim went to Art Wok which is a small Asian fusion restaurant. She had a wine or two and her and her work colleagues pretty much ordered one of each from the menu!

Curtis was going to pick Kim up from her evening out but Kim was lucky enough to get a lift home from a co-worker.

When Kim got back home, she showered and we watched the Great British Bake Off Semi Final and then went to sleep! Friday tomorrow!
