Place 72 – Day 319: Vancouver, BC – Canada Day

Parallel 49 Coffee

We were up at a fairly late time as it’s Canada Day, so a day off!

Kim made pancakes for breakfast with strawberries and banana and they were perfect!

We eventually got ready and walked down to Parallel 49 Coffee in the city to grab a coffee! We managed to get there just before they closed and then walked home, in the rain.

All The Games!

We got back home and took out some recycling and then Kim slowly made dinner.

We had a chicken chilli which cooked throughout the afternoon, smelled amazing and tasted just as good!

Curtis signed up for a subscription on the Xbox which gives us a bunch of free games we can play, so we got some of those and played them for a while.

After dinner, we watched an episode of a show on Netflix about interesting and different sports across the world which was actually very interesting.

We watched a few more shows in the evening and then headed to bed, feeling pretty strange as it’s a Wednesday but it feels like a weekend!

Place 72 – Day 196: Vancouver, BC – Haircut & Successful Shopping!

Haircut

We were up around 09:30 and Curtis got ready to go to get to the barber for his haircut.

Curtis got there and the barber was his usual guy, so Curtis didn’t have to explain anything and the barber knew exactly what to do!

Curtis got his haircut perfectly and then met Kim to go for a coffee and doughnut!

Coffee & Doughnut

Curtis queued up whilst Kim held a table. The queue was huge!

Curtis had a cappuccino and Kim just had a chocolate doughnut whilst Curtis had a very long (and filling) doughnut which had chocolate icing and a vanilla cream filling.

Successful Shopping

We had a few things we needed to buy, so we popped to a few shops.

Kim got some bras from Victoria Secret and then we went on to American Eagle where Curtis got some jeans and Kim got a couple of things, too.

The last stop was H&M for some underwear, which Curtis got and Kim got some socks.

All things we needed and very successful!

Hockey x 2

We got back home and had a tuna sandwich each whilst watching some TV.

After that was done, Curtis watched the leafs game whilst Kim did some studying.

We finished with both activities and then Curtis sorted out his hockey stuff as he has a game tonight!

We had some food and then headed out to the rink.

Curtis’ hockey game starts at 22:00, so we’ll let you know how that goes tomorrow.

Place 72 – Day 201: Vancouver, BC – Christmas Market 🎄

Shopping

Kim was up at a good time to head down and meet Linda so they could do some shopping!

Curtis stayed home and caught up with some sleep after his early start yesterday.

49th Parallel Coffee

Curtis walked down to meet Kim and Linda for a coffee!

We went to 49th Parallel because their coffee is just fantastic!

Christmas Market

We walked down to the Christmas market after a little bit more looking around shops.

The Christmas market looked small, but we went in anyway.

It turns out, it was quite big, with over 50 little huts!

This Christmas market was ‘German’ so a lot of them items and even staff were German!

We walked around for a couple of hours checking out all of the different stalls as well as purchasing a few things. We had some tasters too, of course.

It got colder and colder whilst we were out, so we got a pretzel to keep us warm!

Whilst we ate our pretzels, we queued up for the German handcrafted gifts tent, which was a big German company that makes intricate small wooden Christmas decorations. These were very expensive but they did look cool!

We were also very glad to be inside and warm.

We left here and went to get some food. We all had a goulash in a bread roll bowl…it was very delicious, very winter-y and exactly what we wanted.

We sat in a big tent and ate this and then just relaxed in there for a while.

After that was done, we were all funned out and so we headed out.

We went back to Kim’s work as we left some bags there, so we had to get them.

We walked Linda back to her hotel and we parted ways, but we’re seeing each other tomorrow!

More Shopping

Curtis watched hockey once we got home and Kim went out to burnaby for a bit more shopping for herself as there was something out there she was looking for.

Once she got home, we sat and watched some TV together and basically just did nothing with our Saturday night.

Place 72 – Day 161: Vancouver, BC – Haircut & 49th Parallel

Haircut

We were up a little later today and we felt great!

We had a decent sized breakfast and watched a couple of YouTube videos and then got ready for the day.

We went down to Gastown for Curtis to get his haircut. Unfortunately, the barber was a bit behind and we had to wait for 30 minutes!

Curtis got his hair cut and was very happy with it! The barber was from Australia and had only been in the country for 9 weeks.

Coffee

After the haircut, we went for a coffee a our favourite place, 49th Parallel.

We each got a doughnut, Kim a chocolate one and Curtis a lemon one. Curtis also got a cappucino.

We left the coffee shop and walked home.

We watched a bit of TV and then went out to get some food for both tonight and the Thanksgiving meal tomorrow.

We don’t celebrate it, but want to have a nice roast anyway.

We started at Whole Foods, where we got a nice half rack of lamb to have.

We went to SaveOnFoods for tonight’s dinner, which was swedish meatballs, carrots, creamy gravy, mashed potato & peas.

We watched some more TV and then went to bed. Other than having an nice big dinner, we have no plans tomorrow.

Place 72 – Day 94: Vancouver, BC – BC Day Relax

Quaint Coffee Spot

We had another relaxed morning and then got out the house by going for coffee.

We walked past a small house which has been converted to a coffee shop on Saturday so we marked it for our next stop!

We went in and it was beautiful inside, but we decided to sit outside with our drinks as it was in the shade and therefore cool.

Kim got an iced caramel latte and Curtis got a cappucino. They use the 49th parallel coffee, which is the best!

Gym & Swim

We got back from our coffee and Kim wanted to go to the gym, followed by a swim, so that’s what she did. She loved it and even used the sauna briefly!

After Kim was done with swimming, she marinaded the pork we were having for dinner and then we went out for a walk and a drink!

Irish Pub

There is an Irish pub just around the corner from our apartment, so we stopped in there and grabbed a drink whilst sat on the patio in the sun.

Kim got a glass of wine and Curtis got a Guinness, of course.

We left here and went home to have dinner.

Pork Stir Fry & Cleaning

We had Chinese pork stir fry which was terrific! This was exactly what we were looking for for dinner.

We did a bit of cleaning, both vaccuuming & washing and then chilled for the rest of the evening.

Back to work tomorrow, but we’ve had a mostly relaxed weekend with bit of fun yesterday.

Place 72 – Day 72: Vancouver, BC – Bastille Day, Thai Festival & 49th Parallel Cafe

Bastille Day Celebration

We had a lazy morning and then walked down to Yaletown and to the Roundhouse Community Centre, which was hosting a Bastille Day celebration.

We got there and saw there was a train from 1887 there, so we had to take a look at that first!

There were a few exhibits, but mostly food and drink.

There were some crepe stands, beer stands, tea stands and a full brass band, too!

Unfortunately, there wasn’t really that much going on, so we left the area and went to find somewhere to look for hats.

Hat Shopping

We wanted to look for a new hat for Curtis as Kim wanted to get him one for his birthday.

We went to a few shops around the city, but couldn’t find anything that great.

We went to a few other shops to get some other things, such as some shorts for Curtis and some work clothes for Kim.

Thai Festival

We left the shopping centre and discovered a small Thai festival, which we had a quick walk around, but that wasn’t all that interesting either.

49th Parallel

Kim had a coffee and doughnut at a coffee shop near her work before and said it was really nice, so she wanted to take Curtis there. It is called 49th Parallel.

Curtis got a raspberry doughnut and Kim got a chocolate doughnut. The doughnuts were really good but also light which is nice.

Curtis had a cappucino with his and Kim had mocha. Both coffees were amazing and Curtis loved the fact that the coffee actually had its own flavour!

Pizza!

We got back home and had some pizza with salad and watched some TV.

We then watched How To Train Your Dragon (the first one).

We had a few hours out the house today, but nothing taxing, which was nice.
