Place 49 – Day 323: Auckland – Steak Sunday

We woke up nice and late at 11:30, just in time for Curtis to watch hockey and make a delicious coffee.

Whilst Curtis watched the Leafs game, Kim spoke with her mum and dad on FaceTime.

After hockey, Curtis showered, took the bins out and gave the floor a once over with the vacuum before we left to go to the shops.

We stopped on the way to pickup a plate which Kim leftover at the party yesterday, and then onto the shop we went.

We got a few things, but namely steaks for tonight’s dinner.

We got back home and relaxed for a bit before making dinner.

We had a scotch fillet steak with peas, kumara wedges, mushrooms and a red wine jus. Delicious.

We ate our dinner and watched some YouTube videos before we watched a film and ate ice cream. We watched The House which is a pretty funny film, but wouldn’t say it’s the best we’ve seen.

Tomorrow is work, which isn’t great…

Place 49 – Day 322: Auckland – French Brunch & Another Party!

We woke up at 10:30, which was perfect. A nice long sleep.

Kim had to get ready fairly quick as she was meeting Tabitha for brunch.

For brunch, Kim went to So French, which is somewhere we have been together for breakfast and it was excellent.

Kim had a crepe with a very strong (and French) cappuccino.

After brunch, Kim came home and had to get ready again to go out for a party.

For the party, Kim made some sandwiches, bought a cheesecake and made some chocolate covered strawberries.

Curtis dropped Kim off at around 16:45 and Kim went in for the party and Curtis walked back to the car.

When Curtis got to the car, he noticed Kim’s phone there! He then had to walk all the way back and give the phone to her.

Curtis eventually got home, hung out the laundry and cooked his pizza for dinner.

Kim had a great time at the party.

Curtis picked Kim up from the party fairly late and then it was bed time.

Place 49 – Day 321: Auckland – Late Evening Burgers

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis left early in the morning but still got there at the same time as normal, even though there wasn’t much traffic. Strange.

Curtis didn’t have too much to do, but he then found a few things to do in the morning, followed by some extra cases being logged, too.

In the afternoon, Curtis helped train his new colleague and then he got given some data work to do (pretty much copy and paste work) which took him the rest of the afternoon.

Curtis drove home but stopped at the supermarket on the way back.

Both of us;

Kim got back home, showered and got ready to go out.

Kim was going for a few drinks with work colleagues in the city centre.

Kim had a couple of glasses of wine (she doesn’t like shiraz apparently!) And a cocktail before Curtis picked her up.

We went to Takapuna and got a burger from burger fuel. Curtis got a BBQ beef burger and Kim got a chicken burger. We also go sweet potato fries.

We finished the evening with The Apprentice and then it was bed time.

Place 49 – Day 320: Auckland – Wine Was Required!

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis did not want to get up for work this morning!

We both slept great last night, but that was even more reason as to why we didn’t want to go to work.

Curtis got to work and the heavens opened! For most/all of the day, there was a lot of rain and a lot of wind, too.

Curtis had to help fix a major issue with a website today. There were some issues which stopped the company in their tracks, meaning they couldn’t do anything at all.

Overall, that took about 1.5 hours of time, but it was interesting.

Curtis then discussed an issue he was working on yesterday with a colleague and they figured out a solution for the issue, which was great and rewarding.

After lunch, Curtis helped with another large issue which meant being on the phone for about an hour, but he got that fixed, too.

Curtis left the office 15 minutes later then he planned, but the traffic was still fairly miniscule.

There was so much wind today that when Curtis got home, he opened his car door and his arm nearly flew off with the door!

Both of us;

We’d both had pretty long and busy days, so we felt we deserved a glass of wine.

Kim got home and we had chicken burgers for dinner, with a side salad.

We ate this and watched the 3 current episodes of Black-Is before we relaxed in bed and watched some YouTube videos.

Tomorrow is Friday and Kim is out in the evening.

Place 49 – Day 319: Auckland – Takapuna Evening Beach Walk

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis actually had stuff to do today!

When he got to work, Curtis was informed that a client in Christchurch had no internet, so he called them to see if he could resolve. Curtis was able to resolve the issue pretty quickly, which is good!

Curtis then got a call regarding something he helped with yesterday and had to investigate that for most of the day.

Curtis started lunch and then had to cut it 30 minutes early as he had to help sort out a PC for someone remotely. After that, he then had to investigate the issue for the lady he spoke to on the phone previously, followed by setting up a PC for someone. He wanted to leave early, but left 15 minutes later then he wanted to, but still left early.

Both of us;

Once we were both home, we wanted to go for a walk along a beach, so we drove to Takapuna where we saw there was a triathalon happening…random for a Wednesday night!

We walked along the beach and spoke about our day. It was perfect weather for this, too!

We left here and stopped at the supermarket on the way home.

We had enchiladas for dinner with the leftover meat from yesterday’s.

We watched the final of the Great British Bake Off and then chilled out for an hour or so before heading to bed at a better time than normal.

Place 49 – Day 318: Auckland – Earthquake?!

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis’ commute to work was a bit busier this morning as Prince Harry and Princess Meghan were in Auckland, so everyone was traveling to the city to see them.

Curtis got to work and as with the last few work days, he didn’t have much to do.

He did a lot of training today, as well as having a fight with a label printer and also doing a small amount of development, too.

We both found out that there was an earthquake down in Wellington around 15:30 today…a 6.2 magnitude one! As far as we are aware, nothing major happened as it was quite deep, but crazy to think it can happy so close to where we live.

Curtis thought his drive home would be very busy but it was about normal, which was a bonus!

Both of us;

We decided on enchiladas for dinner, so we began to make them.

As we went to cook the meat, we realised it was still really quite frozen, which was odd considering it was out all day!

We were going to go and buy something else and let that defrost for tomorrow but then Nicola gave us the genius idea of defrosting it in the microwave.

After a blast in the poppity-ping, we finished off the delicious enchiladas, using both Colby and parmesan cheese for the top! We also had a small side salad with it, as it’s healthy.

After dinner, we watched the latest NCIS:LA and then finished the Lukas Graham documentary which was still incredibly interesting.

Kim then made lunch for tomorrow and we went to bed…we’re not sure where the time went this evening!

Place 49 – Day 317: Auckland – Movie Monday!

Curtis’ Day;

Curtis got to work and didn’t have much to do. He made a coffee and got settled into the day.

Curtis needed to setup a PC for someone remotely but this ended up being way more work than he thought as some of the work he thought was done on it wasn’t done.

Curtis did that and then in the afternoon he moved desks. Everyone at his office has to move as the plan is to have everyone facing the same way and on a desk with their team, so that microphones don’t pickup other people’s voices as much.

After lunch, Curtis completed a lot of training and the odd case here and there.

Curtis drove home and there was no traffic so he got home fast.

Curtis was glad to be home and relaxing!

Both of us;

Kim got home and we were both absolutely starving so we had a steak salad again, with the remaining marinated steak slices.

We watched a YouTube video and then decided to watch a film. We watched the film Tag which was a really funny, easy to watch film.

After this, we watched some YouTube videos and then watched a few episodes of a documentary on the band Lukas Graham, which was very interesting.
