Place 72 – Day 179: Vancouver, BC – Birthday Flower Surprise!

Curtis’ Day

Curtis’ day was largely uneventful and slow.

When he got in, he had a call with a few people from his team regarding a problem and how they are thinking of rectifying it.

Once that was sorted, Curtis did some ticket work, a little bit of project work and then he had a long, 1.25 hour meeting.

Just before the meeting, pizza arrived for the whole office. There was 22 boxes! This helped feed Curtis during his meeting, which was a bonus.

After that, Curtis technically didn’t have any lunch break, but he got right back to work.

Curtis setup a laptop and had a few more ticket requests to get done and then he went and had a drink with others in the office.

When Curtis left work, he had to go and pickup some chocolates that the florist didn’t deliver to Kim for her birthday!

Kim’s Day

When Kim arrived she had a chat with someone she planned a lunch with! Kim has been assigned a new person to have a coffee date with and Kim organised it for Friday forgetting it was her birthday. Instead of it being for a coffee date, it turned into a lunch for Kim’s birthday! Kim invited her whole team and a few others from around the office. That was a great way to start the day!

Kim then ran across to the supermarket with a colleague and grabbed a chocolate croissant for breakfast and tried to get a free coffee from Starbucks for her birthday but that location didn’t accept it!

Kim spent a fair amount of her morning sorting things for the winter party as it is only 4 weeks away! She made a to do list out of her notes, a guide of a timeline of the activities in the evening, sent out an email to a vendor and made a shared folder so other people can see this and add to it.

Kim and the other 8 women went to lunch!

They picked an amazing Thai place just down the road. It was a great meal, Kim had duck in a pa-naeng sauce with coconut rice and it was delicious!

When they got back to the office Kim was greeted by an ENORMOUS bouquet of flowers!

They were about 3x the size of Kim’s head and they were the final present from Curtis. It made Kim well up and she was so thankful!

After everyone ooo’d and aaa’d over the cute note from Curtis, Kim was sat typing away when a few of the girls who came for lunch and another guy from the office came over and started singing happy birthday but they also had a cake for Kim!

Unsurprisingly, this also made Kim well up, so they went to the kitchen and had cake!

After the cake Kim had a quick meeting with her manager to go over a few questions Kim had about the social committee.

After this meeting Kim continued working for all of 5 minutes before a small army walked over with ANOTHER cake all singing happy birthday! So they all had a chat and some cake.

Kim decided to do a little work after all the cake and arranged for some business cards to be sent out via FedEx. She also took 5 minutes to have a quick chat with her parents!

As she was setting up for the weekly drinks she realised that she didnt have one crate of the usual beers so she ran out to get that, luckily before she left she went to take her ID and realised that she left it with Curtis, so she took another person from the office to go in for her.

Kim then sat down and enjoyed a glass of wine while finished her slices of cake from her multiple birthday cakes and chatted with people until Curtis arrived to help carry the flowers and stuff home!

What a brilliant birthday!

Nothing Evening

We got home, relaxed and watched some TV.

Kim showered and whilst she did that, Curtis played some games.

After that, we sat and watched a bunch of funny YouTube videos and then watched the latest NCIS:LA.

This weekend is a busy one, but should be super fun!

This Time Last Year!
