Place 72 – Day 167: Vancouver,BC – Sofa Swap

U-haul

We started the day at 08:45, getting up and ready to head off to U-haul.

We jumped in the car and drove the 15 minutes there. We were early, so got breakfast at McDonald’s.

We got to U-Haul & picked up the van. We did a check around it had to mark any dents and scrapes as you do, but we got to do this through a webpage rather than a piece of paper, which was cool!

We drove off and headed to our first destination.

Picking Up A Sofa

We were purchasing a sofa from someone and so had to drive out to them and collect.

We got to them, parked up and started loading it in. Luckily, the sofa came apart in multiple easy chunks (thank goodness for IKEA!) so it was no problem moving it around.

Once we collected that, we got out of the way there and drove home.

We got home and brought everything inside. We took all of the covers off of the sofa and cushions and chucked them into a wash.

Dropping Off Our Sofa

We got everything in and then had to get our current sofa into the van. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the luxury of being able to break it down, so had to lug it out whole, which we got sorted eventually and then were back on the road.

We drove for 20 minutes to the people that were buying it from us.

We had to wait for 15 minutes before they responded and then it started raining! Luckily, we were able to get a spot right outside their building and helped them unload the van.

After this, we headed to take back the van and had to stop for fuel along the way.

IKEA

We dropped the van off and then got back in the car and drove up to IKEA, because why not.

We got there, parked up and took a wander around. The only things we bought were a pillow, some small Christmas decorations, laundry baskets, some cinnamon buns and some other Swedish snacks!

We had a hotdog and drink before we left and it hit the spot perfectly.

We took the drive home knowing we had to rebuild the sofa.

Sofa Building

We got home and built the sofa. It was the perfect size and seemed very comfy!

Some of the cushion covers are still damp, but we have everything else on and it is a great sofa. (It’s an Ektorp from IKEA).

Curtis watched hockey and Kim relaxed in the evening.

More!

Kim saw something on Facebook she wanted so she went out at 19:15 to buy it. It’s a storage rack for the bedroom so we can organise things a little better.

We ate some leftovers and watched TV For the rest of the night…it was a busy, successful day.

This Time Last Year!
