Place 72 – Day 63: Vancouver, BC – Drone Obstacle Course & Lunchtime Coffee

Curtis’ Day

Curtis had a very busy morning, fixing an issue that started yesterday as well as fixing a few things that happened due to some changes made last night.

As well as fixing issues, Curtis attempted to convert a desk to a standing desk, but after unscrewing all but 1 screw, the last one was blunted so he couldn’t undo it, so he had to give up and put it back to how it was.

Our Lunchtime Coffee

We met at a coffee shop called Mario’s for a coffee as we’ve both been past it and thought it looked great! It is a typical Italian style cafe, owned by an Italian man who was very lovely. We got a coffee each, which was incredible, and had a chat about our day together.

Curtis’ Post Lunch

After lunch, Curtis got some more things done before having to write the ‘beer email’ for the week. This is a nominated email in which the nominated person must say about the upcoming weather as well as the beer the office had on tap and anything else that they want to share.

Once Curtis finished this email, an obstacle course for kids that were at his office (due to there being a ‘summercamp’) started. Drones had to be flown through hoops and obstacles and then a RC truck had to be driven around a course.

Curtis had some drinks in the afternoon and socialised with his colleagues before walking home.

Kim’s Day

Kim got into work and set up for the day then ate some breakfast.

She then properly started her day by chasing for a quote for a cake that is needed next week.

Kim then spent some time going through the replies from the summer party invite and noting who is bringing plus ones and dietary requirements people may have. She made a cool little spreadsheet, info like that is always better on a spreadsheet!

She then completed the paperwork and sent it across to the bus company to secure the transfer from work to the party on the day!

Kim then spent some of her morning on ad hoc things that came up, like organising the catering that arrived, finding a branded hoody for someone who wanted one and greeting a visitor who came in.

While checking up on orders coming in for a catering service that they use, Kim notice that people had the ability to order plastic cutlery at $0.25 a unit. Kim then contacted the company and request that this functionality be removed as they have cutlery, both metallic and plastic at work so it seems silly to order more in. It worked too! The company were super accommodating and were more than happy to remove the option!

Kim then spent some time organising the cupboard behind her desk and then organised the single use plastic cutlery, the more organised it is, the faster it can be used up and bio replacements can be brought in!

Kim then headed out to meet Curtis for coffee.

When she got back kim organised a few little things before popping out to the liquor store to buy the weekly wine and beer for the Friday afternoon drinks. On the way back Kim also grabbed the mail.

When she got back to her desk Kim then went through and ordered the fruit for next week and a new catering request for Monday.

The quote then came through so Kim discussed it with her colleague and then placed the order.

It was then time to set up the friday afternoon drinks, so Kim set everything up and let everyone know it was time to help themselves.

After maybe 45 minutes Kim then headed home for the weekend!

Chilled Evening

We had a very chilled evening, watching some YouTube videos then some Lucifer followed by The Last Leg and some other shows.

We are very much looking forward to sleeping!
