Picking Up Some Things
We left the apartment with everything we have and loaded it into the Uhaul.
We drove to an apartment in the city and picked up some tables. Luckily, these were dismantled so were easy to fit in the van.
We then moved on to another city apartment in which we picked up a nice TV! The guy was very nice and let us test it before we purchased and we also spoke to him a little bit.
We had the fun job of trying not to smash or damage the TV… more on that later!
We continued on from here to collect two bar stools. Kim decided to put them to good use when we were in the elevator.
We drove from here to our new home, which wasn’t far.
TV Panic!
Whilst driving home, a panel of one of the tables slid onto the top of the TV screen, so we stopped to check it. It looked physically ok but obviously couldn’t check it there and then.
We continued to drive and then shortly after, another part of a table slammed into the TV.
We got to our new apartment and ran in to test the TV…It was fine! No issues at al, we don’t think.
Coffee & Apartment Check
We saw the previous tenant of the apartment who was cleaning it for a couple of hours. Due to this, we had to kill time, so we went for a coffee.
On the way back, we got the previous tenant a drink, too!
We had a check around with the landlord regarding the apartment with what needs fixing etc. Once we did this, we moved everything in!
Moved In!
We went down to the garage with the landlord who is kindly giving us a sofa that he no longer needs. We has to help him bring it upstairs, which wasn’t the easiest, but we did it.
After this, we went out to the truck and started unloading. We didn’t really have a plan, so just dumped stuff in our living room, but we got the mattress out of its wrapping and let it expand fully.
Taking The Van Back
We finished moving in and then drove the van back to Richmond. We dropped it off and then went to McDonald’s for some food as we hadn’t eaten since breakfast.
We left McDonald’s and got a bus and then a train to get back home.
Once we arrived home, which was around 17:30, we sorted out the sofa bed, followed by building our bed.
We finally got the bed done by around 21:00.
Canadian Tire
We went to Canadian Tire to get a few things we needed, such as a bed sheet, plungers & sone extension cords.
Chinese
We got a bit hungry, so we walked to a Chinese place and ordered some lemon chicken and szechuan beef. They even said they would delivery it to us, so we said yes and stopped by the liquor store on the way back to get some beer.
We finally got out bed made and got into bed. The bed is very company and just perfect for us!
We watched a quick YouTube video using data as we don’t have wifi as of yet – that is hopefully getting installed tomorrow!
More stuff to build and do tomorrow, but we are getting there.
