Place 31 – Day 1: Kuala Lumpur ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ – Hamilton & Bottas?!

We woke up at a chilled 03:30 this morning to get in the taxi and go to the airport.

We were able to check our bags, so we went to where we needed to and there was no queue at all! Result! We checked our bags but whilst doing so, they removed the luggage tag, for some reason…Kim managed to mention it a few times and eventually they realised, though the bag had already gone so we weren’t sure if the bag would make it onto the plane…

We wanted some food but there wasn’t anything before security and usually there isn’t after, so we went to 7-Eleven and got a toastie (or 2!) From there.

We got through and low and behold, there was a subway…so that is annoying! But hey.

We sat down and relaxed but got bored of waiting so we went for a walk around the terminal. We went back to our seats as we should have been boarding, but it was late to board, of course! Whilst we waited, we were given a survey by a student from Hong Kong to complete about our stay in Phuket…So that was a thing to do!

We eventually went to board and got on the plane. The plane was clearly very new! It smelled of new leather when we got on the plane, though there was very little leg room.

We landed in Kuala Lumpur and the first think we noticed was that it was incredibly hot! 33ยฐC!

We got through immigration and got our bags (yes, Curtis’ was there!) Then we headed to the train. We got some money out first (free of charge…win!) And then paid for a train ticket and boarded. This took about 25 minutes then we had to take a metro two stops and then walk for a couple of minutes. All in all it was pretty easy to get here.

Our hostel is very nice! Double bed bunk bed, which is awesome! Plenty of space in the room itself and good amenities. We signed up for something to do tomorrow aswell, which will be fun!

We relaxed as we were so tired and then we went to get some lunch and do some sightseeing! We went to the ‘twin towers’ and took photos of it, but today was not the day we were going in it.

We walked around the towers and the area in general and there was a small park there. Near the park was a large tent which was ran by Petronas. We then found out that the F1 was in Malaysia this weekend and Bottas & Hamilton were making an appearance for signings! We thought that we might as well stick around, even though we didn’t queue to get an autograph. We stood NEXT to the line right at the front, so it was a good view!

After a long time, they both arrived and everyone went crazy! We took a video or two and a couple of photos and then left. We didn’t really want to listen to them too much, but it was a cool experience, especially to stumble apon!

Lewis Hamilton?! Yes…We were that close! ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

So, we actually did way more than we thought today! We got some admin things done and then went for some dinner.

Kim has a confusing dish of spicy pasta, though it looked like Carbonara! Very odd, though it was bland. Curtis had a lot of things, but it wasn’t great. Curtis had egg, fried rice with ginger, an onion bhaji and chicken Satay. Again, nothing was great, but it was edible!

Now, we plan to not do very much for the evening but we have a couple of plans already for tomorrow!

selamat tinggal!
